To be honest, last time I was there the place smelled like sewage it was so bad we had to take our drinks and walk away from the bar area. Been there several times now at the bar and seems like the (female) bartenders enjoy ignoring me and my wife. We are locals, we tip very well (as high as 50% never less than 20%) but never got good service there with some of them literally pretending they don't see me while staring right at me. This happens when they aren't busy too, they just gather in one spot and having fun ignoring anyone except 1 group. When I was there with a group of friends it was interesting to see half the group got excellent service while the other half (myself included) got ignored repeatedly. It's an ok place, might actually be good but definitely not good enough to endure this level of service and stench. Personally I won't be returning unless I'm with a group and they all wanna go there. A shame, it's easy to fix but looks like no one cares to change it. read more

Swordfish special was inedible!! I cook swordfish and they should know better. Thickness was not more than half inch and over half of it was fatty and chewy that I had to spit out on my plate. Ordered the grilled grouper tacos (it was the lunch special) 2 tacos with beans and rice $19.99. Fish was chopped up at bottom of tacos with tons of lettuce and no sauce. One of my favorite old Florida restaurants but tonight was a miss. We drive 15 miles for the smoked fish dip that did not disappoint. My husband's grouper sandwich was good. I am going light on the carbs & ordered the Cesar salad with grilled shrimp. It was by far, the worse Cesar salad I've ever had. The lettuce was clearly old and there was so much dressing; it was literally dripping off the salad! It was YUCK! The grilled shrimp was good. We'll be back but DONT ORDER THE CESAR SALAD! read more

I have been to the area six times since in the last year and tried many restaurants. Casey Key Fish House has become one of my go to spots. It is really casual with a great location right on Blackburn Bay. On one of my visits a pair of dolphins graced us with their presence. The food is absolutely phenomenal. Great atmosphere - super chill! It's not "foodie" level fancy or anything like that, but that is part of the joy. On this visit, I had the pan seared grouper with fruit salsa. The salsa had a slight level of spice to it - mango, grapes and cilantro were the main flavors. The combination was really tasty. I paired it with the JDub's Brewing Passion Wheat (local Sarasota microbrew). Perfection, right there. On one hand, I'm hesitant to turn more people on to this little gem... ...but, Casey Key Fish House is too good to keep to myself! read more

Dinner here was phenomenal. You might not guess how quality this place is from just looking at it, but wait until you order anything. The food speaks for itself, but since you may want more details than that.... Casey Key has the freshest selection of fish. It's cooked well, seasoned well, and tastes like it was just caught. My tuna was pan seared with sesame seeds and came on a delicious bed of noodles and veggies. It was a huge meal, well worth the price. My partner had a special of Cobia, which was nice and buttery and flakey, not at all dry or overdone. We were both in heaven. Service was super fast, and our server was nice and informative. Perfect balance of attentive and letting us just have a night for ourselves. The bathroom was what you would expect, and could have used a little more attention. My family of 7 came in and the woman who waited on us said she was the owner but had such attitude First we asked her what flavors of High Noon she had bc the menu said ask server for flavors. She had to go check and came back and said they only had Pine. I wasn't sure if I heard her right so I asked did you say Pine? And with an attitude she said yeah pineapple. Then we mentioned one of the kids had a tree nut allergy if she could make a note of that. She said she could not make a note of it and they don't do special orders. We explained we were not asking for a special order. He was not ordering anything with nuts but to be mindful of it. She said her kitchen staff doesn't even speak English! She told you will have eat here at your own risk! I was shocked and mortified. Then she started telling us the thousands of dollars she has to spend to train them which I am not sure what that had to do with anything. We just left. Didn't want to eat at our own risk. Drink orders were taken and specials described. The drinks were good but served in plastic cups (not a fan of table service plastic mixed drinks). Wow. Been going here for years. Came for the first time since the pandemic started - not a mask on any of the employees - waiters, cooks, etc. We were seated and after about one minute I realized this was absurd - their food is ok, but NOT worth catching Covid over! So we all got up to leave, and we told the waiter we were leaving because there were no masks, and he said "come back when you feel safe". What a nerve. After this experience I will never go back to the Casey Key Fish House ever again, because if they don't care enough to have their staff wear masks, they probably don't give a rat's butt about overall kitchen hygiene, etc., and they certainly do not give a rat's big butt about their customers' health. read more
