Pork tenderloin with onion rings
John I.

Passed this place a few times and the good YELP reviews made us want to stop. The neighborhood is a little sketch and the outside of that strip mall could use a facelift (would improve business) but it was way nicer when we got inside. Cool retro bar/restaurant vibe. We sat at the bar before noon and started ordering food. Alex our bartender was friendly, personable and helped us with recommendations. Love seeing people that love their job. I got the pork tenderloin which was pretty good. My wife got the Ruben (which she is having the second half today) and we got queso . I look forward to going back to try different things from their large menu. Alex said they have new owners...please make your outside look nicer and I'm sure more people will stop in .

Came on a Saturday afternoon before another event we had to get to, a decent amount of people but our service was still great! Lovedddd the nachos it was so flavorful and had a good amount of meat! My husband's fish sticks were delish and loved the coleslaw (tastes like the Raising Canes one if you like that!) my jalepeno cheesesteak however...I didn't like it first bite I was excited so I thought okay let's get into it! To my dismay it actually wasn't very good. It was givingggg ground beef?? Maybe I shoulda tried something else. Interesting spot tho!

Beer is good. My 1st time here. I love how chill it is.

Red beer with bloody Mary mix. Looks slow but likely is busy on the weekends or after work. Lots of TVs and good music.

Philly Cheesesteak

Tonight we visited Casey Jones Grill for the first time and overall it was average. A Green Bay Packers themed sports bar that is really in need of an overhaul inside. I tried the "specialty" cheesesteak and maybe it's on purpose (because the hate the Eagles) but it wasn't close to what you get on a true Philadelphia cheesesteak. The $1.99 upgrade to onion rings was a mistake because they tasted like they were right out of the freezer. The pork tenderloin sandwich my wife ordered was OK and the sweet potato fries were good. The sandwich had shredded lettuce (probably the same they use in salads) and all it did was fall off the sandwich. The highlight was our awesome server! Unless they get a refresh I cannot recommend. Oh, the cheese curd app was very good and authentic. David B "FIMP" food is my passion

Worst excuse for French Onion Soup.

Used to be pretty good but always forget things on to go orders. Worst French Onion Soup I've ever paid for. No onions, no broth or cheese and nasty repurposed Au- jus Won't be back.

Happy anniversary weekend Cinco de drinko!

Not your average dive bar... really great food excellent service and really cool ambience. This is…read moremy new favorite hangout in Scottsdale. Jessica, my waitress was really awesome and very friendly and helped me pick out some really great things on the menu. I had the Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries. The German pretzel bites with beer, cheese and the churros with ice cream and a few beers and I have to say the prices are excellent and the food is incredibly good and I don't say that lightning most dive bars are just good for the ambience and a few cheap drinks. This place is great all around. Also, their patio area is dog friendly, so I was able to bring my little furry friend with me and he hung out and laid down near the table. Another bonus.

Met up with a few guys here after work on a Friday and the place was packed. Definitely a lively…read morelocal hotspot vibe. You can tell right away this is the kind of place regulars come back to often. Food I didn't try much food, but I did have the cheese crisp and it was solid. Light, flaky, and more like an open-faced tostada than a quesadilla. It came topped with green chili and chicken, and everything worked well together. Based on that, I'd expect the rest of the menu to be consistent, even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Service Service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was. No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity. There was a live band playing early 2000s rock hits, which kept the energy up. Crowd was friendly overall, very much a neighborhood crowd. Overall This isn't a destination bar, but it's a really solid go-to if you live nearby. Think of it as an elevated dive/sports bar with a strong local following. Good drinks, good energy, and a place that does what it's supposed to do well.

There was a game & the area for parking & the restaurant was packed. We were greeted by pleasant hostess. We were told 15 minutes wait. I'm not sure how long it was, but it wasn't long. While we were waiting someone came & asked all of us waiting if we wanted a drink. Hubby & I ordered drinks. He brought them right as we were being seated. Hubby got his favorite beer & on draft which is his favorite. It was so good & really cold. I got Tito's & cranberry. It was good as well. Our server came to the table promptly. Hubby ordered the power bowl. I ordered the smash burger. Hubby loved his power bowl. It was huge & full of food. I thought I took a picture, but it didn't come through to my phone. My smash burger was so good. I don't know what they do, but it was moist & flavorful! It is loud, but it outstanding service & excellent food. Even if my phone took 2 fuzzy pictures & didn't get 1. THE BEST CHIPS (FRIES)!…read more As a British expat, I'm always happy to try a new British restaurant, so I had to try this one while visiting Phoenix. The pasty and gravy were authentic and delicious. The chips were some of the best I've had in a very long time, if not ever. The restaurant is large with an upper and lower level and patio dining. It has a pub-like feel. Use the QR to view the menu, but order through the waiter. (This isn't quite obvious, so a sign stating 'Order with the waitstaff' would make things more clear). There are a variety of pasty flavors to choose from. The bathrooms are completely graffitied -- I think they've chosen to make that part of the decor. Don't let them scare you off! I would visit again if we were in the Phoenix area. Helpful?

Today, I was walking near my office and came across the Downtown Phoenix location of Cornish Pasty. I enjoyed a tasty lunch with good service, and I am already looking forward to heading back there. When I approached the restaurant from the corner of Central and Monroe, it wasn't clear which door was the door I should enter though it seems like any door off Monroe or Central is just fine. There were limited number of tables plus the bar, and I was delighted to see a small table available. I was eating on my own with a book, and I was quickly greeted by one of several team members who stopped by my table over my lunch hour. I asked a few questions about three options, and I decided upon the Chicken Pot Pie Signature Pasty consisting of chicken, carrots, red potato, green beans, celery, and onion with rosemary. There was also chicken gravy on the side. Everything about the dish was delicious! I would consider ordering this again as I enjoyed it so much; however, I may want to try something else next time. There are so many options! I did learn though that you cannot substitute most options in the pasties. Visit the Cornish Pasty website at https://www.cornishpastyco.com. On the website is the history of the Cornish pasty, information about all 11 locations (of which 9 are in Arizona), menus, a photo gallery, catering options, contact form, employment options, online ordering, and gift cards. The menu consists of their signature pasties and premium pasties though they also list vegan and vegetarian pasties, salads, appetizers and soups, sides, desserts, and drinks. While the Scottsdale and Tempe locations appear larger than the Downtown Phoenix location, it was still comfortable and had similar positive customer service from staff. There are so few restaurants like the Cornish Pasty in the Phoenix area. I'd certainly recommend visiting any of the Cornish Pasty locations though for a positive experience Downtown, feel free to stop by. No reservations are needed. If you don't find a regular table available, feel free to stop at the bar and take a seat there. I look forward to returning back to the Cornish Pasty again soon. Yum!
