If you're looking for a place to do some work or studying this place has tables, outlets, and WiFi! It's got a very cute ambience with the wood and plants. It does tend to get busy so it can be hard to find a table. Honey Lavender Latte: I got it iced and it was very delicious at first but quickly lost the aesthetic when the lavender and honey flavors faded and it become very watered/milked down. However, the honey, lavender, espresso flavor combo is very good. Getting hot instead of iced would probably bring the flavors more together with is what I recommend getting. Cold brew w/ almond milk and hazelnut syrup: I DO NOT recommend getting the hazelnut syrup with the cold brew. It's bitter and has almost a tart flavor. It completely ruined the flavor of the entire drink. read more

Delicious coffee and personal service! During my short stay in Portland, I went to Case Study twice! I enjoyed their lavender matcha latte and their latte. My friend had the cafe con miel which was delicious as well. The coffees were perfectly brewed, flavored, and kept hot during the car ride around PDX. I really appreciate a small local coffee shop like this. There's something about sipping freshly brewed coffee in the cold which makes it so much more wonderful. The barista was friendly enough to go over the ingredients in the coffee and to give her recommendations on what to try. I also love that they accept contactless payment, just order, tap, and go! I was on my way to Stumptown coffee roasters when this beautifully designed coffee shop suddenly appeared. It was about to rain and after quickly glancing over Yelp reviews, I decided to give this a try. The ambience is industrial chic with a few tables left to sit (half of the area has been closed, I guess due to covid). There are bakery food items on the menu to choose from, but I decided to try their lavender honey latte to start my day. The coffee is heaven in a cup. I am not sure if it was the rain, or just my omni present craving for coffee, but this is the best honey latte that I have ever had. I am not sure why would anyone give it less than 5 stars! There's a lot of good coffee places in Portland. I decided to go to Case Study because I wanted to try a new spot that was also close to my hotel. I loved the Hazelnut Latte (5 stars) because it was the best hazelnut flavored coffee I've ever had. The hazelnut flavor wasn't like the syrups added at other coffee shops. This tasted more like the better hazelnut flavor you get from hazelnut gelato or nutella. I also liked the latte art. Service (4 stars) was quick and safe with contactless payments. read more

Everytime I come to Portland I always make sure to stop by here. I'm pretty basic and drink cold brews and/or iced coffee, plain. Sometimes if I'm feeling brave, I throw in a hint of cinnamon. Came here at around 10am and was surprised there was no line. The previous times I've been here, there was always a handful of people already waiting. The aesthetics in the coffee shop are super cute! Ugh definitely can't miss their signature signage outside. The cold brew is pretty strong, I was for sure wired for a good few hours after chugging it in 10 minutes lol. Also this was my first time getting pastries, and I was also surprised to see that they had vegan options! The lemon blueberry poppyseed muffin was delicious, very flavorful and not too sweet - a little on the crumblier side but it good nonetheless! I also got the oat date cookie (based on the barista's suggestion), and to be honest it was kinda just meh, decent. I've definitely had better oat date cookies elsewhere however for the price and size, it's well worth it if you want a quick snack. Would definitely buy the muffin again and totally recommend it to all my fellow vegans :) read more

This is our 2nd visit to a Case Study Coffee. This one is right next door to a cute gift shop and close to the Portland Art Museum. Everyone is so friendly here. We were looking at bags of coffee when Sara came out from around the counter and asked if she could assist us. We discussed the coffee options for their pour overs and she even poured a few samples of three of them so we could get a feel for each coffee. We were torn between the Ethiopian and their house blend. We went with the medium roast blend and it was really good (Sarah made it). We also bought a salted caramel cookie bar and it was quite good. Located downtown, I wanted to pick up a cup of coffee while waiting for my Fries Egg I'm in Love sandwich at Pioneer square so I found this coffee shop on Yelp. My local friend recommended some other local Portland coffee shops but I wanted to try this place because of the views reviews on Yelp. It's definitely aesthetic and hipster on the inside, looks like a place where you can study or meet up with people. There wasn't a long line, their small drinks come with 2 shots of espresso. Their special was a Honey Lavender Latte which is what I got, and their latte art was cute, served pretty quickly and fairly priced. Pretty classic and typical for what you get at coffee shops and when you want a flavored latte. I feel like coffee is more on the pricey side lately but still worth a cup of joe! Sometimes it's a challenge to get a cup of drinkable coffee, even in a coffee-savvy town. There're dark roasts so dark that I'd swear that I was served a cup of depression dusted with misery and a cream of ennui (usually with a smug self-satisfaction biscuit). There's light roast so light one suspects they're just reusing the coffee grounds. Most of the time I prefer an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or Harrar, or the basic Colombian, I'll take anything medium-roast that isn't nasty and bitter in my cup after five minutes. Case Study Coffee rescued me from continuing my thus-far fruitless search through downtown Portland for that drinkable cup. Their drip coffee of the day was tasty, aromatic, ok with half-and-half, and made me happy. We loved this spot and returned twice during our trip to Portland. It's a very chill, comforting setting. We arrived close to opening time (7 am) on both of our stops here. Still, there was a line of at least 5-7 ppl each time and only one employees working. He worked very efficiently and had a calm and pleasant demeanor. They do have a pastry case with bagels, breads and croissants available, however, we didn't get any. I ordered the cold brew- with hazelnut on one visit, and vanilla on the other visit. Both were very good but I especially loved the hazelnut. My partner ordered a hot latte with their salted caramel syrup. The salted caramel is to die for! So sweet and delicious.
