First time at this coffee shop so I'm comparing the taste utility to a "cap" at Barista or Stumptown. it is a two shot espresso with whole milk, temperature about 150, very well balanced (acidity to sweetness with a little bitter back taste) - robust flavor with three origins - Columbia, Ethiopia and Mexico. It has an old cozy vibe feel and there were all kinds of seating. Staff: They were okay, they got my order and that was it. I said thank you to them lol. Drink: I got their latte with regular milk and such. I always get something 'normal' or 'typical' if it's my first time. The price was a little higher for the size I got (their "small"). I have mixed feelings about my experience. I got a "figgy matcha" since I'd already had plenty of coffee that day. The drink was really good. I'd definitely go there again to grab something to go. The environment wasn't really for me. It would be a nice place to work or read if the music wasn't blasting. One of the baristas was really nice. The other was really short with folks. A couple of people, including myself were waiting for the bathroom for over 15min. One of the women waiting went and said something because we were concerned for the person inside .She was just brushed off. If you require any gluten free food (or don't want a baked food), there is nothing else there. This includes no snacks or bars. Out of the many cafes we visited in Portland, this one was the busiest. There were plenty of tables and chairs, bars, and stools, but all were taken. Inside there was a S-shaped line that zig-zagged to the center of the cafe, where the counter was. At a glance, the seats were on the outside of the doughnut and the staff were working inside. Since it was breakfast time, we hoped to eat a sandwich while having coffee, but most of them were sweet desserts. The only savory option was bagel with cream cheese, so we took this option for this round. There were were a couple of guests waiting around the pickup area, and completed orders were called out by the menu item rather than the name. At the time, it was lucky that I was the only one who ordered the bagel with cream cheese. Out of the many coffee places we tried in Portland, at black (without milk or cream) it was the sourest. That is mostly the reason why I lowered the rating from 5 to 4. While the coffee is the main element in rating cafes. Great, spacious coffee shop in Downtown Portland! I stopped by here to do some work one day and wondered why I've never been here before. The cafe was pretty busy, with almost all of the seats taken except for bar seating (and there's a lot of seating). The inside of the shop gets an abundance of sunlight and is a great place to work. I ordered the jasmine matcha and was pleasantly surprised by how fragrant the jasmine was in the matcha and how well they complimented each other. The baristas were super kind. Now I was VERY VERY sad to learn that the Bourbon Caramel syrup wasn't vegan BUT the hazelnut was so I settled for that. Now the coffee itself was NOT my favorite. I didn't really like it much at all. BUT my husband loved his tea. Also the service was great, it has a super chill and very Portland vibe. I was able to ask the barista some questions and he was fast to offer his opinion and some recommendations on the options that were still available.
