The lunch buffet is $13.95, it started out good and filled with hot fresh items in the beginning. The dessert section was solid, it had flan, fruit and different sweets. Not anymore, recently it's been old tasting Aldis chocolate chip cookies? The potato tacos and chimichangas were great once upon a time. My visit again they had a soaked texture from the steam and a rock hard bottom from the heat underneath. Our plates never got picked up. A few items were empty and cold, after visiting almost every week since they started the lunch buffet, I call it quits! The menu item we ordered tasted like it sat in a open container in refrigerator and was microwaved. They lost their passion for serving up great food and a good experience.

Appetizer plate totally worth the $14. Great variety & flavor. Enought for a while table to share!

Last time we were here it was Rubens, so I guess it's been a while. It looks like its a family ran business. They removed the wall between the restaurant & bar area so it's more open but they didn't update any of the booths. The seats are cracked & peeling, which is reason for 4 not 5. The food & service was AMAZING & FAST!! The server brought both salsa, real chunky salsa not taco sauce, & bean dip. My husband loved the salsa, extra spicy & flavorful. I loved that they provide the bean dip. I hate not being able to enjoy the chips since i don't do spicy. It was a nice, unexpected treat. I ordered the appetizer platter. It had flautas, taquitos, quesadilla, nachos & buffalo wings. I was so full on just the nachos but I tasted everything it had great flavor. I don't like things too spicy & it was not at all. I didn't get jalapeños. My husband ordered the chileverde, he loved it. The plate was huge & so was the portion. It was more savory than spicy, I tried it & it wasn't spicy so I thought it was great. Our 10 yr old liked it too. Only negative is the rice was pretty bland, needed more flavor. Also the highlight of the meal was waiting for fresh flour tortillas! I've never had a restaurant give us fresh made tortillas like this, they were so hot & so good. Our son got the kids pizza, which came with fries. Funny story, the ketchup tasted homemade, so we asked the waitress. She laughed & said no it's a can. Idk what brand it is but it's delish! It was $58 for 2 adults, 1 child without alcohol & kids eat free on wed. The very best part of the evening was the lil green/white candies at the register. We were expecting a mint... nope its the best ever lime candy. The perfect after treat for a Mexican restaurant!! My husband's raved about it for the next 20 minutes & even asked the gentleman at the register where they got them. Lol We will definitely be back! Thank you for great service!!

the bean dip with salsa served with chips Our food was delicious I had chicken fajita with corn tortillas guacamole, and refried beans and rice and a cheesecake dessert My partner told me the enchiladas were delicious also our server was excellent and did everything we needed and wanted. Jocelyn was very accommodating server and the music was just right I had so much food left over. I made my own bean dip layered with fajita beans and guacamole with a sprinkle of rice. The murals were really beautiful and big Thank you for a great experience Very convenient location on Gosford near White Lane in the O'Reillys auto parts Gosford Plaza shopping center

This was our 2nd time visiting Casa Tabares. The first time we visited, they had just opened so there was lots of room for improvement. This time around we decided to visit for Mother's Day and try their Sunday Brunch which we'd seen advertised numerous times on Instagram for 16.99. To my shock, I didn't realize until I got home, that we paid 21.95. I'm supper disappointed. I tried calling but their line just rang and rang. We were sat in the overflow seating area in the bar where it was very dark because a bunch of their lights were out. And to top it off, our table had a clear shot of the men's restroom, with the door open and everything. What's more disappointing is that the food was not very good. We were not offered mimosas, although I saw other tables being served them. And I had to ask about the free Mother's Day margarita that was also advertised on instagram. Sadly I had 2 sips and didn't finish it, as it was also not good. I really wanted to enjoy this brunch with my family, but we were all left pretty bummed.

They have a Mexican buffet style option on Sundays! It runs from 11-3pm which i think is great! A lot of them end way too soon! The pricing is great! 16.99 and if you're drinking mimosas it's 19.99! However it's only 3 mimosas, take note of that! They had lots of great options, FRESH tortillas, menudo and pozole! Omelets and waffles! The only thing I would recommend is for for the food to be hotter, some of it was just warm, and or looked cold! Their dessert table is a bit small but if you fill up on everything else it doesn't really matter.

mom's 55th birthday

I highly recommend this place went last night for my mom's 55th birthday karaoke was off the hook. The bartender was great. Drinks were bomb food was bomb. If you go ask for Ashley best waitress hands-down we had over 20 people and she did it without a mad bone in her body.she Kept a smile and everybody was happy with all their food and drinks.

Vibrant decorations. Friendly very welcoming staff. Excellent quality selections on the Sunday Brunch Buffett. Everything was so fresh and delicious. So glad we finally made it in to try. We will return

Happy Hour appetizer platter

Went to try out the happy hour & watch the Dodgers game. Chips & salsa were good. I asked for bean dip. They didn't have any but my server had them make some. We ordered the appetizer platter & had a few drinks. Prices were real reasonable considering everything is expensive. Paid cash because they charge extra like everyone else if you use a card. Since it's just down the street I will be returning soon. Food was good. Server was good

Boom

This please is the bomb. Three plate combo, two chili Riano's, and a cheese enchilada. The food was excellent, and the service is even better. George was our waiter and he gave us excellent service. Highly recommend this place.

Came in for a late lunch with my family. This place was previously own by a different owner so I was a hit skeptical to try it. Not disappointed. Waking in the restaurant has been renovated with beautiful new seating and decor. We were seated quickly. We were given Complimentary chips that were perfectly thin and crispy along with delicious flavored red Chile de árbol salsa and beans with jalapeño flavor. We ordered the molcajete, ranchers plate and the carne asada plate. Over all all three dishes get 4/5 stars. The molcajete had a good amount of meats and the side of rice/beans. The only thing I would suggest is that they put a lot more sauce in the molcajete. But flavor wise the sauce was great. The ranchera plate was so delicious and tender. Cooked very well with a good amount of onion and sauce on top. The carne asada plate was not too thick and cooked thoroughly. I say give this place a chance for sure.

She comes from LA so we meet halfway. She is so nice and so friendly. She really won my heart! This is the second time we meet in Bakersfield. I had this place saved for a while now so I was excited for the visit there. We got there and they sat us almost right away. They have a cute lobby before the entrance to the restaurant. There is an old telephone booth and Christmas decorations. Johnny brought us the menu and it was the lunch menu. I saw on line that they had some great food for breakfast and Te-see asked him about it. He told us they were still making breakfast so I got happy. I ordered a coffee with cream and he brought it in a little tray with the creamer on the side. The table was a little wobbly and the coffee spilled all over the tray. Luckily Te-see got that fixed with a sugar packet. Jonny brought me another tray with coffee and cream. Almost everything was plant base, some egg and chicken but definitely no red meat. Unless I didn't see it. So I ordered the chilaquiles rojos and my daughter the Happy-go-Lucky-bowl. Te-see got the torta española and slew got a pancake to shared. All the food came very fancy well presented. Almost like magazine perfect. I loved them. We were taking videos and pictures as we should like a truly Yelpers that we are. Haha! The food was so tasty and flavorful. I loved my chilaquiles. They were perfect for my palate. They were crunchy and still with the flavor of the sauce. So delicious. They came with a little bowl of beans from the olla. (Freshly cooked) Te-see mention that her torta española was great as well. It came with some green salad. And it did really look so good. My daughter got the Happy-go-lucky-bowl. I was surprised she liked it. It was so beautiful presented. Sorry I already mention that. But yes it was pretty. There was berries melon, pineapple. She said it was really good and filling. She couldn't finish it. The pancake we order to share was so healthy made with all the good grains like chia, hemp seed, brown rice, oat flour. So good. It had some bananas and berries on top. Really delicious. I want to go back again just writing about it. I may go back and order different things from the menu. The bathrooms are very clean. Also maybe restaurant is part of the hotel

This time we tried the croissant sandwich, the sunshine breakfast plate, and the French toast combo. When the French toast came out I was worried at first. It didn't look like it was cooked well enough but I was so wrong...it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I was most excited about being able to order turkey bacon though. My daughter said her sandwich was good and my husband said his pancakes, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and potatoes were great. The eggs were well poached, nice and runny yolk. The meat portion was good, it was a touch salty. Muffin was toasted well and the hash browns were good. The hollandaise sauce was a touch heavy on the lemon but I still enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly when I entered as well so the service was good. The setback for me was the price tag, it was almost $18 for just the benedict with hash brown, no drink or anything else. It's a bit high, I think for the quality and taste if it were a few bucks cheaper I'd give pretty high praise. Still, it was a pretty good experience and I'll probably give it another shot down the road.

The first toast was peanut butter and strawberry jelly topped with coconut flakes. The second was almond butter and banana with cocoa nibs, honey, and cinnamon. The third was Nutella and hazelnuts topped with strawberries and coconut flakes. They were all delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Nutella and hazelnut toast. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the variety made it fun to share and try different combinations. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is a cute cafe vibe. SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
