Great service. Macy was attentive and friendly. The filet mignon was excellent. The cannolis are made in house and are delicious. Great atmosphere as well.

It started off bad and ending up good. We went in on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all. I did make a reservation, it was highly suggested and it wasn't a problem getting one for the same evening. The hostess was very pleasant. The problem was when we were seated. Every waiter/ waitress walked passed us as if we were invisible. I wanted ti leave but the other half of my party wanted to wait it out. It took me asking for a waiter to receive one. Our waitress was nice and apologized, she mentioned that no one told her we were seated but I saw her look at us multiple times and there was no acknowledgment. We ordered the fried combo which included fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks and fried calamari. It came with 3 sauces, ranch, honey mustard and marinara. All were great compliments especially the ranch. I ordered the manicotti with a side of meatballs. It came with a house salad and the table was given a bread basket. The bread was fresh and delicious. I loved the accompanying balsamic vinegar and herb oil. The house salad was very fresh and nice palate cleanser. The manicotti is something I would order again. I was expecting the traditional pasta noodle manicotti but it was a crepe. Different and something I wouldn't order again. The homemade meatballs were delicious. Flavorful. We added dessert the seasonal maple crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was a nice touch but it had many cold spots throughout. The dining area has dim lighting which gives a nice seating for smooth conversation and a nice ambiance. Overall the food was better than I expected minus the manicotti and us being ignored upon entering.

We started our trip to Boone with dinner at Casa Rustica. We were scrambling for dinner reservations (we found out this was one of Boone's busiest weekends of the year once we got there ‍), and Casa Rustica was one of the only places who could take us. Boy are we glad they did! Not only was their customer service excellent squeezing us in with four adults and two toddlers, the quaint little atmosphere should have been a sign of the authentic Italian cuisine that was to come. We started with a fried appetizer sampler (we were starving ) that included fried calamari, zucchini, mozzarella, and mushrooms. All that fried food can get muddled but each item was accompanied with its own sauce which helped balance everything out. We also had the hand made meatballs which were out of this world good. I opted for the chicken and dumplings to preface my meal and talk about a flavor bomb. Hands down the best chicken and dumplings I've had to date. They were seasoned to perfection and the peppery flavor sent it over the top. For an entree I had the Dijon chicken which consisted of chicken medallions, sun dried tomatoes, and penne in a Dijon cream sauce. Tangy and creamy - perfection! Unfortunately, not pictured are the complimentary garlic bread and my husband's Ribeye (go go having kids ) but those were excellent as well! This is a little gem that's worth a visit on a rainy autumn day!

Service was very good. Caesar salad, lasagna and spaghetti also very good. One of the few real Italian restaurants in Boone.

It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We started with the nachos; they were delicious, though I do wish they came with a bit more meat. For mains, the burger was outstanding--probably one of the best we've had in the entire area. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. Definitely worth the wait!

Bar tender provided menus, and checked back on us after a few minutes to take order. They've got a good menu with pizza, sandwiches, burgers, and a good variety of entrees (seafood, steak, chicken, pasta), basically, they've got something for everyone. Not being too hungry, but knowing we needed something, we decided to just split an order of the pulled pork nachos. The food came out fairly quickly, looked and tasted great. They did not skimp on toppings. Staff was friendly, food was good, only complaint is it was very dark inside, and surprisingly loud in the restaurant, I can't imagine being there with live music, I assume it would be impossible to have a conversation.

Their cocktails are crafted with homemade syrups, and change seasonally. I had the Garden in Tibet--a delicious drink with gin, Prosecco, sugar snap pea syrup (!), green elixir syrup, elderflower liquor, and lemon. You'd think this could be a too-sweet drink, but it was PERFECT. My husband had the Which Damascus the first time, with rye whiskey, cherry basil syrup, hickory syrup, Amaro Montenegro, Tiki bitters, Peychaud bitters, and orange. He enjoyed it, but I thought it was definitely too sweet. He had a Garden in Tibet on our second visit, and preferred the Tibet to the Damascus drink. We love their unique smoked trout deviled eggs as an appetizer. This dish has two eggs filled with smoked trout, and three filled with a deviled egg mixture. The accompanying house hot sauce is so good! For our entrees, we both had hickory-smoked trout on the first visit Mine was definitely saltier than his. We had three sides--collard greens, smoked Gouda grits (our favorite), and corn, hominy, yellow squash & chile hash (so fresh and delicious!). On our second visit, I had the almond and cornmeal-crusted trout with the smoked Gouda grits, and my husband tried their fried chicken sandwich with slaw. He absolutely loved the sandwich--the chicken was thick, juicy, and very tender. He'll definitely get the sandwich again. Service is always good at Speckled Trout, and I love that we can pay with ApplePay at the table via the Toast handheld. We can't wait to return.

The mozzarella sticks had very little cheese. Two of our steaks were undercooked. One was ordered well and was given rare. The other was ordered medium and was given rare. They did fix them after requested. The steak did not have enough seasoning. About 5 or 6 different servers kept coming to our table every few minutes asking if we needed anything or if they could refill our water. The disruption of conversations from being constantly asked negatively affected our experience. While I understand our reservation was later in the night and that this could have been the reason for this poor experience, I had higher expectations for this steakhouse. Sadly, this was an enough to deter me from coming back. Every server was pleasant though.

He followed those instructions and ended the night saying "that's the best steak I've had in a restaurant". Between the excellent service and food, this was one of the best anniversary meals I've had at a restaurant. We were told to make reservations, and fortunately with the local college in summer session, we were able to select our ideal time slot. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated in their area with a rounded glass wall/ceiling that allowed for a beautiful view of Boone. The restaurant has a warm interior with a mix of wood booths or tables. The rolls they serve at the table reminiscent of the Sister Schubert's yeast rolls, and I was not mad about that. We split the 12 ounce ribeye, and got a side of their French onion soup. It came out with a nicely bubbled and browned layer of cheese covering a piece of bread atop the soup. The entree comes with unlimited salad, and I loved how you got to select your salad on a piece of paper from one of their amazing ready-made selections or they had a create-your-own space. I opted for the Cobb salad. And even after all of that food, we still opted for dessert because why not? We split the Mountain Mama Cinnabun. The massive cinnabun comes out with a nice layer of icing on top and two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream. It was all we could do to eat "two spirals" of the cinnabun and one scoop of ice cream before we had to call it quits. With all of the beautiful scenery, wonderful salads, and expertly prepared entrees, I would say the wait staff equally provided to the excellent experience. We had our dedicated table host, but in addition to that was The Peddler who takes your food order specifically, additional folks who bring out your food, and other servers whose job it is to keep your glass full and table cleared of empty dishes. All of the wait staff were extremely polite and not overbearing. All in all, it was a delightful experience, and I hope to bring more of the family up next time so they can experience that level of service and food too.

I was surprised to see such a large crowd dining that time of day (2:30). But despite the busy flow of customers, service was wonderful, eager to answer questions, and very attentive. We started with the yuca fries. The absolute BEST I have ever had! Fresh, warm, well seasoned, and large portion. Our waitress was nice and friendly but definitely struggling and the food itself was very mediocre. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and sat outside as a group of 7. We started with waters and then a couple trays of chips and salsa. We opted for the house fire roasted and pico options. The chips were a good portion but each one came with maybe one ounce of each sauce...for the 7 of us. We asked for extras and so she brought out one of each... I ordered a chicken vegetable soup which the menu stated was served with a cornbread muffin. When the soup came there was no cornbread so I asked for that and upon her return she said it would be an extra $2.50 even though I literally pointed to the menu to show her that was not written anywhere lol The soup was okay, probably Would've been better with the muffin but I wasn't going to argue over it anymore. For my entree I got two southwest chicken tacos. And those were disappointing as well. Packed with a lot but just did not deliver on flavor, and the poblano cremosa salsa I got was pretty bland too. Overall sentiment from other friends was similar- they ordered bowls, burritos etc but found a lot was left to be desired with their dishes. Come payment time, I opted to use cash since the menu stated 3% surcharge for credit. When I gave her a $20, she returned my tab (after processing the others who put a card in) and I explained I had left cash, to which she asked "oh do you want me to give you a 10 and two 5s?" And I explained, No I just want to pay with cash, I only need the change. And then she gave me the wrong amount of change. So all around this spot was definitely a let down. @azfitfoodfun

We chose Bella's Italian Restaurant after seeing positive reviews while traveling with our family…read more Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable and not appropriate for families. There was about a 30 minute wait. We briefly stepped out and returned, only to learn our table had been ready but the text notification did not go through due to a phone number error. Not a big issue, we waited patiently with our two children ages 8 and 10. While we were waiting, the hostess went up to a man working the bar wearing a hat to speak to him about our table. She appeared apologetic and uncomfortable. His response and body language came across as irritated and dismissive. While still nearby, we overheard the same man speaking loudly to a bar customer and referring to a woman as "one of those crazy b***** online." It appeared connected to the table involved in the interaction that followed. After we were seated, the same man, who had been working the bar, came into the dining area and approached another table, a group that appeared to be in their 60s to 70s, regarding a receipt or refund issue. Based on his role and how he handled the situation, I initially assumed he was a manager. The discussion became tense. The woman at the table shook her receipt and said something to the effect of listening to him was making her more upset. At that point, he raised his voice and shouted profanity, telling her to "get the f*** out of my restaurant." As he walked away, he turned back and began shouting again, saying additional things about his integrity and honesty, then again told her to "get the f*** out" before storming into the kitchen. This occurred in the middle of the dining room with children present, including our own and another nearby table with young girls. From the back of the restaurant, loud banging could be heard, and it appeared he struck a wall or object while shouting additional profanity. The table he addressed appeared shaken and quietly left without further argument. The entire restaurant went silent. The servers themselves were professional and kind throughout the evening, but the outburst clearly affected the atmosphere for everyone. Overall, the food was about a 7 out of 10. The lasagna was good. Other dishes were mixed. The spaghetti marinara was very bitter and unbalanced, the shrimp scampi was heavy, and the amount of butter served with the rolls was excessive. Later, I was told by staff that the man involved is the owner's son. Later that night, my son told me that as he and the same man reached the single occupancy restroom door at the same time, the man told him to go first, but did so in a sharp and impatient manner that came across as aggressive. After witnessing repeated profanity and outbursts earlier in the evening, having my child spoken to in that manner by the same individual was completely unacceptable. Regardless of internal issues, repeated profanity, raised voices, and aggressive behavior toward guests, especially with children present, is not appropriate in a restaurant setting. We will not return and would caution families before dining here.

We arrived shortly after opening with a party of 8 and were told there would be a 15-minute wait, even though both dining rooms were empty. We waited in our car as instructed, then checked back after 15 minutes. Still no table. While waiting on a bench with my young child and my 70-year-old mother, a hostess came over to tell us we had to wait outside if we were waiting for a table, even though others were waiting inside for to-go orders. We were seated, not blocking any exits, and the restaurant was nowhere near capacity. When we questioned this, we were told it was "fire code." A second hostess repeated this rudely, even to members of our party who had ordered drinks at the bar. So, back out into the 20-degree cold we went. After about 30 minutes, we were finally seated--only to be told pizzas were now a 90-minute wait! No manager was on duty to address concerns, when I asked to speak with one. Several issues stand out: 1. This problem is systemic from the top down. 2. Hostesses should be welcoming, regardless of stress. 3. Dine-in guests should be prioritized over take-out orders. 4. A pizza place should be able to handle pizza orders without extreme delays. This is the second bad experience we've had here with long waits and poor customer service. Bella's markets itself as a "family" business, but clearly does not value families. I will never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to others.
