Revisited Casa morales. Disappointed in the taste of the food and the cups used to service their popular cafe de olla. On this occasion, the café was too sweet(cup was chipped) and the chicharrones plate tastes bland. I ordered a taco of chorizo con huevo to help with the taste. The flour tortilla was too raw and still had too much flour powder, that it looked like baby powder on my hands. I used the tortillas that came with my wife's plate of chilaquiles to eat the egg. That afternoon I got sick and decided to fast the next day. This use to be a go to place on my list, but I think I'll try the new options in town. Hopefully if I revisit in the future, it will be better experience. read more

Waited 20 minutes for a table than proceeded to wait another 15 minutes to order the server we had was new even the owner mentioned she was new and smiled away like no ma'am there is nothing to smile about if they know she is new why isn't she being trained the proper way or why does she not have another server by her side? Than we waited another 20-25 minutes for our food to come out even the guest who got there after ate and left in under 30-40 min my experience was terrible I don't recommend at all poor server she was all nervous even after I asked her twice to go ask for help ridiculous..Food was very MID paid 75$ absolutely overpriced read more

We came to this quaint spot in Magnolia Park on the recommendation of a coworker. She vehemently recommended that I try the menudo. Jimmy cricket, it was hands down the worst menudo I've EVER consumed. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that it was reheated in a microwave. Never, in my 60 years walking the face of the Earth, have I ever added salt to a menudo! SALT! The most basic component in any meal. It was horrible! The service was great. The cafe de olla was pleasant. I may go back to try the breakfast tacos but I have to wait till this so called "menudo" exits my gastrointestinal tract ..and that may take decades! read more

A cute little local shop for authentic Mexican breakfast! My super sweet Airbnb hosts took me here one morning on a spontaneous outing, and I definitely enjoyed the homey feel of the restaurant. It seemed like everyone there were regulars or old friends! I didn't really enjoy the food though, but the pancake was pretty good. Very home like feel. Friendly staff and quick to respond. Salsa was really good. Got a very family feel. The cheese they used was so good. Rice flavorful beans good. When you arrive here you automatically get a sense of welcoming. The food has the place smelling delicious and not to mention the Cafe De Hoya. They have a lot of dishes to choose from, but my all time preferred is the Barbacoa a La Mexicana tacos. After having had the tacos we order what is called a Gordita de azucar. The staff is always very friendly and it feels like you are a part of the family owned business. Definitely a 10/10. read more

The woman who waited on my coworkers and I was so sweet! The service here is excellent. I ordered the chicken fajitas and it also came with charro beans and rice. The beans and rice were the best part of the meal! The chicken was very over cooked (maybe it was just a fluke!) and the flour tortillas seemed too tough/chewy for my taste. All in all, it lacked pizazz. I would give this place another shot simply to try something else on the menu though. This is definitely an authentic mom n pop place. The food is fresh, homemade, and delicious. They have freshly squeezed OJ (get the large), along with other aguas frescas. The one memorable part for me is the gigantic sized tortillas. They were bigger than both of my hands put together. I didn't think I'd finish my breakfast, but I was determined. Almost a year since my last visit and immediately noticed a difference in price and portions. They still have the same great taste in their food that has been around for many years making them a staple to the community. The tortillas are still huge and delicious . We can all understand a price change but portions the size of a serving spoon on your meats and the rest of the plate rice and beans isn't what this place was built on. I admit I am selfish. I rarely give 5 stars to a business because "as good as it gets" sets quite a high bar. Plus, I wanted to keep this restaurant all to myself so delayed writing a review for several years. But it isn't fair to keep such a jewel hidden from my fellow Yelpers so here goes. Dining at Morales feels like going home for a meal. It is a small family owned and run business. Dad oversees the kitchen, Mom runs the front and the kids help everywhere they are needed, from the register to busing tables. They greet their customers as friends and are always warm and welcoming. No habla? No problem (but you may be the only English speaker there!). We first ate here years ago after seeing it listed on Marvin Zindler's Blue Ribbon Awards for kitchen cleanliness. We return regularly for the solid food. They serve breakfast and lunch only; no alcohol and no dinner. The early morning crowd includes "old timers" and brings a coffee shop feel. As the day progresses, families, couples, and workers from all walks of life come to dine and the restaurant gets crowded (moral of the story: come early!). The salsa is fresh and flavorful. Tortillas are the size of a dinner plate, freshly made and wrapped in a kitchen towel to stay warm. The food includes Tex Mex and Mexican fare from the San Miguel de Allende region. Their menu includes options perfect for indecisive diners who want to try it all: -juevos divorciados (eggs divided by beans and topped by two different salsas, red and green) -Alma's Snack Plate (crispy taco, enchillada and tostada) -Antijitos Alfredo (guacamole/pico de gallo, queso, asado de puerco, guisado de res, charros beans) -Epecial Morales (crispy tacos (choose ground beef), enchiladas (cheese, please) and a tamale topped with chili sauce) Other favorites include the cabrito, served on the weekend, swimming in a deliciously complex sauce with hints of herbs, peppers, and yumminess. Breakfast meals are great.. I've never had their famous cabrito serve only on weekends. I love the customer service and they make you feel as you belong(one of us) as they say. Wow use to go here a lot about 5 years ago. It has really changed for the worse. The food is just ok when you can get it hot but portions are very small. They use to have legit specials. It's looks as if someone else has taken over completely took previous specials away and tried to do a midtown thing ??? It's not working it's the barrio and families want traditional specials and something for their money. If you want midtown then open a restaurant in midtown. read more

We went for breakfast on Saturday morning. Chips were OK but the salsa tasted like Picante sauce out of the jar. I had the huevos rancheros and my wife had the caldo de res. My eggs were cooked to order, potatoes and beans were good.The ranchero salsa had good taste. I ordered the pork chop and it was good and fried to perfection. My wife said it was one of the best Mexican soup she has had in a while, just like mama used to make. I must have driven past this place a few thousand times in my lifetime. After reading the numerous positive reviews on yelp the wife and I decided to drop in for breakfast. I must say that this place didn't disappoint. We ordered the huevos con chorizo with tortillas de harina and maiz. Both types of tortillas were homemade and to die for. The food felt so authentic I thought my grandmother was in the kitchen cooking up my breakfast like when I was a kid.
