So disappointed- I paid $125 for this cake. It looks like a kindergartener decorated it. So disappointed. They didn't even put her name it!!!

White Petit Fours and one Chocolate Petit Four

I was told this bakery had actual petit fours and stopped by this week to see for myself. I am happy to report back - they do!! These are real, traditional petit fours, not the fake "petit fours" with fillings I have seen a few other bakeries have. So far these are the only ones I've been able to find in Dallas. The traditional white cake was my favorite; the cake was moist with the perfect ratio of icing.

    Sad King Cake

I was stuck better 2 and 3 stars, but the crushing disappointment I feel from their "king cake" says 2. Let me preface by saying I love king cake, but I realize I don't have many options in Dallas. You have the chain grocery stores and they are okay given you have to take what I can get, but if you google 'king cakes dallas' you get a short list that ventures beyond. Casa Linda Bakery has always been on these lists, and last year when I called to inquire if they had any I just got a no. Nope. No offer to make one, just no. Fine, maybe an outdated list. (Plot twist - they did sell them at this time) This year I tried again with an updated list and renewed hope, and I stopped in. They let me know they are made to order with 2 days notice, and come in cinnamon or cream cheese. Great! Cream cheese, duh, and I gave them the majority of the week and said I wanted to get it Saturday. Prepaid, went on my merry way anticipating a non-box store king cake. Saturday rolls around and I pick up my very flat king cake box and head home. Open it up, and while it's shrink wrapped over top they have also wrapped the cake itself in Saran Wrap. Great, except it was either not set or the icing is too soft and it's stuck to every bit of it, peeling off in a gooey mess when I try to unwrap. Not a great start, but if it's delicious who cares. But no. The cake itself seemed a little stale, despite a very definite time and date to pick up. It's flat, stale bread with a peeling off frosting that I can only equate to a crappy store brand (good frosting could have saved it). On top of that, what should have been the saving grace (cream cheese) is a minuscule ribbon running through a tiny bit of the cake, so small I had to actually examine the cake closely to find it. I get why they make you order ahead now - anyone who knows better would never just buy it premade in store. It's only the suckers like me who come seeking it out that they get. My suggestion is they just stop, don't even offer it since you CLEARLY don't like/know how/care about making it. And shame on the list makers for including this, as they CLEARLY didn't actually try it. The petite fours are the reason for 2 stars, as they are clearly something they do know how to make and are delicious.

Okay, so I really wanted to love this place. Petit fours are hard to find in Dallas. I ordered some for my daughter's baby shower. They made the kind and number I wanted, and they are cute and tasty. However, they are large, really more tea cakes than petit fours. And, befitting tea cakes, there are no layers: just one block of cake. But they are tasty and cute. I ordered online and got an instant email receipt. But no follow up confirmation the day before. When I tried to email them, it bounced back. I called before they opened and left a voicemail, as instructed. I called back after they opened, as they had never called me, only to have the employee tell me they cannot get voicemail messages and there is no way to fix it. Odd. Anyhow, they had my order, cute little cakes. Not sure I'd use them again.

Tried again for the 3rd time to get some special holiday cookies the way I remember them. Never, ever again.

1/4 White Cake ($35). Not worth it. Crumbled easily, very dry, stale. Had to throw away.

Avoid. $35 for a 1/4 white sheet cake. I was told it would feed 25-28 people but it actually feeds 2 because that's how many people attempted to eat it before we threw it away. Casa Linda is located in a very dilapidated part of Garland Rd. The building is old and needs a serious update. They have sample pictures and model cakes everywhere that look like they were made in the 80s- that should have been my first warning. I was looking everywhere for a pre-made cake for an event that same night. I wanted a rectangular cake with space to write a message. The lady said she would write a message for free (complimentary) on top but it wasn't very cute and looked rushed. It's totally my fault for waiting last minute, but it was a premade plain white cake- what could go wrong? I didn't need anything fancy. Just something edible and that is not what I got. I was horrified when we cut into the cake because it was clear this cake was several days old (or was poorly made). It LITERALLY crumbled apart when I cut into it. FELL APART. I could pick up the icing like pieces of brick and it tasted like really bad sugar. In other words, it wasn't moist/ holding form. I wouldn't do it the kindness of calling it dry- it was straight up powder. It would have been better to have no cake then a Casa Linda Cake.

I pre-ordered a 3/4 sheet cake for Welcome Week at Perkins School of Theology. We always order cake as a fun way to celebrate the end of the first week of seminary. In the past we have ordered from Kroger and have not been very satisfied. This year we called around, and I got a great and affordable quote from Casa Linda Bakery. We choose chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Everything love the cake and it was gone within an hour. It was so rich and the frosting was delicious. I would order this again in a heartbeat. I especially liked the way the writing looked on the cake. My only complaint was that the cake was cooked unevenly. It was all fully cooked, but the top was thicker than the bottom. I couldn't tell until I unwrapped the plastic wrap to display the cake. I would have thought that they would notice something like that.

I am 46 years old and just got married for the first time on May 16th, my late father's birthday. I was born in Dallas, as was my husband. For our wedding, I wanted to use local, longtime vendors that have been around my entire life. Casa Linda Bakery on Garland Road has been my family's favorite bakery as long as I can remember. I have several photos of me as a child with my Casa Linda birthday cakes. I have a photo of my 90 year old grandmother with her birthday cake and numerous photographs of other family members over the years. It was a no brainer when choosing a bakery to make the most important cake of my life. My mother communicated with the bakery several times and my sister in law and I went to the bakery on March 31. We spent an hour going over every detail. Although the owner did not want to make me copies of the pictures and what we discussed, she finally did so. I was charged $518.50 and paid that day. The cake was to be delivered at 12:30p to The Filter Building, about 3 miles away. Fast forward to May 16. 12:45p and no cake. My sister in law called Casa Linda Bakery and was told Sunny, the owner, had no deliveries that day. She completely forgot to make our wedding cake! They threw a cake together and it arrived at 1:45p. I walked down the aisle at 2p. I was horrified when I saw the cake as I walked past it to be married. When the cake arrived, they offered to credit the $75 delivery fee (with a store credit) since it was late. My sister in law did not accept that and told them they would need to speak to the bride. I called and left messages three times after the wedding. The owner would not call me back. I then had my bank dispute the charges, but was denied any refund since I did not return the merchandise. Guess I should have called off the wedding to return the cake!!! I am including photos of what the cake was supposed to have looked like and what was received. I have copies of agreed upon details as well as a photo that has a recording of the owner asking, "like this" and me saying "yes". I am heartbroken. We will NEVER use this disgrace of a bakery again and I encourage you all to do the same.

I started with the croque monsieur, and it was exactly what I was craving. The cheese was perfectly melted and bubbly, and that hint of dill on top really pulled it all together. I also grabbed a slice of the lorraine quiche, which was incredibly savory with a crust that was so buttery and flaky it practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, the chocolate kouign-amann was a total standout, super crispy on the outside with those rich, sweet layers inside. I paired it with an iced chai latte, which was perfectly spiced and not overly sweet. They have a small outdoor seating section that is perfect for catching some fresh air while you eat. Staying open late worked in my favor as I got through DJing a show. The establishment is modeled like it's someone's house who just wanted to turn it into a food spot. Very welcoming, the lady at the register who took my order was nice. While every selection made it hard for me to choose from, I ended up going with the Cloud 9 - butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar meringue. I took the slice to go as I was heading back to Tulsa. It was so good. Every bite. I couldn't get enough. The combination of those 3 components went well together. As I was looking up the menu on their website, I noticed that none of the selections were the same from when I had my slice. That indicated to me that they have a rotating menu.
