We returned yet again as the family owned restaurant moved to another location nearby. The new space is much roomier and therefore more comfortable and able to accommodate the restaurant's increased popularity. Service remains friendly and prompt. The food is still tasty and well seasoned with generous portions. We enjoyed the plantains as an appetizer, and two house favorites, the Carne Asada and the Camarones Diablo. What an absolute gem. I could see myself coming to eat here anytime I visit the Hudson area. Delicious, inexpensive, and great service. Their specialty pupusa made from that flower (can't remember the name) and cheese was my absolute favorite, would gladly eat three of those with their specialty homemade melon juice and call it a day, but there are other things on their menu that are great too. Also had their take on shrimp enchiladas and that was also stellar. Really good food; definitely worth the visit. read more

My friends and I decided to try the new location for brunch this weekend. We were the only table in the restaurant at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The server, although friendly, was admittedly out of his element. As I ordered the breakfast sandwich that comes on French toast, he asked what kind of bread would I like. I asked what it normally comes on but my options were white, wheat or English muffin. He said it was his first day doing this so he was confused. We waited 50 minutes before the food arrived. The entire staff were sitting around on their cell phones and our server was bringing plates out two at a time. The first plates he brought out were side dishes of home fries, which would sit on the table and get cold as he would walk back to the kitchen grab two more plates and come back to the table. I could not understand why the rest of the staff was not helping him. As my four friends received all of their food, I did not. I asked the server about my sandwich and he said the kitchen forgot to make it. I told him I no longer wanted it, the kitchen did not need to make it and I would just eat my home fries and plantains. He asked if I was sure and he apologized I said yes thank you. 10 minutes later he brings me my breakfast sandwich anyway. My friends were unimpressed with their meals as well. Black beans were cold and out of a can and the salsa was also seemingly out of a jar and not freshly made. One of my friends ordered his eggs over easy and got scrambled eggs. I ordered the watermelon juice but they didn't have it. My friend ordered tea and the server didn't know if they had it. As we were eating, two staff members were taking photos of plates freshly prepared by the kitchen for advertising purposes it seemed. It felt a bit unprofessional to be doing that while customers are in the restaurant, and not receiving great service. Our server never stopped over to ask how we were doing or if we needed anything after the food was delivered to the table. When we looked around we saw him sitting at a table eating. I'm giving them two stars because the place is cute inside and staff seemef friendly but extremely unattentive and seemingly unprepared for business. I would definitely not return for breakfast however, I may give them a try for dinner. We still left 20% tip and tried to get everyone's attention to say thank you and goodbye on the way out. As we exited we heard the staff speaking to each other in Spanish and laughing...which did not make us feel comfortable either. Stopped in here for a quick snack after a doctor appointment nearby. Somewhat off the main strip of Warren street, but not far, this colorful Latin American no nonsense kitchen offers indoor and outdoor dining with a lot of personal Mexican and El Salvadoran homestyle comfort foods and sauces. We were greeted warmly and offered some fresh chips and handmade salsa. We sat outside and the restaurant was very accommodating and efficient , taking our orders after we looked at the menu. Curious, we tried one each of the vegetarian offerings of papusas, which are delightfully savory filled flatbreads from El Salvador. These traditional breads were really satisfying, delivering a perfect ratio of crispy outer grilled bread to gooey inner hot cheesy stuffing . We tried gooey beans, fresh jalapeños, and plain cheese. They came with a sweet not so spicy red tomato sauce. All were grilled to perfection and absolutely so delicious. You could have these as an appetizer or order 3 or more for a meal. They are perfectly executed, not too cheesy or greasy at all. I'm glad the place is called Papusas y mas. They are a MUST try. We also ordered a few vegetable tacos a la carte. They arrived served on a little metal holder tray and did not disappoint as traditional street style tacos. They were filled with a good portion of grilled cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, and other charred fresh veggies covered in a green verde sauce. Fresh and served with a juicy lime wedge and farm fresh cilantro. Oh, another side dish was a little bowl of pickled vegetables including some really great pickled jalapeños with a kick. You can just TASTE that these have been lovingly prepared in house. Top notch kick of salt/ acid to your meal. For drinks I had a nice horchata which was not too sweet and perfectly spiced and he had a jarritos cola. I can't wait to go back for a larger meal and try more entrees from the menu. I had my eye on some of the burritos and the whole fish. People around me had enchiladas that looked huge and judging by the sampling of sauces we were given, probably also incredible. Casa Latina remains one of my favorite places to eat in Hudson. The food is excellent, the staff are awesome, and the environment is low key and fun. Unlike so many of the newer spots in Hudson, Casa Latina is a family business and their prices are very reasonable. Don't eat here without trying the black bean sopes (delicious and beautiful!) or the pupusas. The Especial Loroco pupusa is especially good, but you can't go wrong. If you can, order a few and share them so everyone can taste a few. BYO hot sauce or request extra jalapeños if you like your food spicy. The salsa is delicious but totally mild, like a flavorful fresh tomato juice/marinara sauce. Skip the veggie quesadilla, which is just overcooked broccoli and melted cheese in a flour tortilla. read more

Well let me start by saying that I am glad I came here for lunch instead of Taco Bell. There is nothing better than going to a small family owned cozy little cantina for lunch. This place is small, but offers indoor and outdoor seating. There is a definite Latin American atmosphere with all the decorations around the restaurant and statues along the window sill. Its like walking into your Abuelitas house. I ordered the ground beef burrito with a glass bottled coke. Nothing better than an old fashioned coca cola. Tastes better out of a glass bottle than a can. I love how the burrito was decorated like the Mexican flag, great presentation. As far as taste, excellent burrito filled with meat, cheese, and beans. This is a family owned business and they offer outdoor seating as well. The guava Jarrito was delicious and the horchata was good it does come in a pretty big size. I got the shrimp taco, veggie taco and chicken taco, they all were delicious. The guacamole was delicious as well, I just wanted a little bit of a kick though. Pupusas are comfort food hugs and I could probably easily eat 40. I love that the tortillas are homemade, and those tortillas become chips. I love that the salsa is real because I got that dainty wisp of a roll of tomato skin. I love when a place just brings great chips and salsa and ice-less water. My husband got a chorizo, beef and chicken taco, we shared a pupusa, and I got the chicken enchiladas. We already know how I felt about the Pupusas, I tried the meat out of each taco and they were all delicious - big fan of them griddling the meats enough to give a little char. The tacos came with lime, salsa, and sliced cabbage. My chicken enchiladas - the whole plate was covered in salsa verde, and I LOVED that they griddled the chicken before shredding it. I get why another Yelper said it was dry, because inside the enchilada was just chicken breast, but with all the salsa, it was fine. It was small, but everyone was friendly - patrons included. Have been here many times and enjoyed each! Great portions, service, atmosphere, and prices. The fresh juices of the day are excellent; my favorite is the pineapple. The queso fresco and avocado on my enchilada were fresh and flavorful, not an afterthought of an ingredient or garnish like you'll find other spots serving (shriveled limes and limp lettuce have been eaten far too many places before). I would recommend this place to anyone. It is family friendly. It isn't the largest seating area but in fair weather with the patio there's usually enough space to dine in.
