This spot is unique and fantastic if what you are looking for is the best outdoor beach viewing space in Venice. We rented the 3rd floor also called "the tower room". It has the largest deck directly on Ocean Front Walk including a gas grill, a hot tub, several pieces of outdoor furniture, and an umbrella. The main studio style room has the queen bed facing the all glass front to the deck. There's a small couch, table, and TV. Up a few stairs is the small tower room with a double bed facing a bay set of windows with a bench. There is a small kitchenette with all the basics. We spent 6 weeks here and the bed and bathroom were very comfortable, and watching and listening to the ocean every day cannot be beat. I've seen some of the other reviews and I chalk those up to unrealistic expectations. This is not a fancy or large place, the building is old, and it is about 4 doors from Washington St so Friday and Saturday nights can be loud. So what. It's an absolutely gorgeous setting. read more

we just got back from yet another extended weekend at Casa Karmina! WOW! Incredible, again! We really lucked out on the February weather being in the 70's, the sunsets from the deck were unreal and the quiet mornings walking up the coast were amazing! no crowds this time of year. I read Phatty K's review and wanted to make a comment. Casa Karmina IS non-smoking (which we appreciate). The lovely landlady, Robin is attentive to our every need. On both of our visits, we had friends over for a lunch on the deck, a jam session (there are instruments all over), a game night, a dinner as well as a superbowl party. Robin even arranged a special pampering session for me and my daughter on- GET THIS- Sunday morning AT Casa Karmina with her hairdresser. WOW! You can't find service like that anymore. This place is amazing, it's at the beach, there is going to be sand everywhere. It's at the beach something's will have rust on them from m the salt in the air. But to be completely honest, it is one of the most relaxing places to hang out and chill at. Robin is a sweetheart and if you are respectful and courteous that is exactly what you will get in return. I have stayed here at least 5 times when visiting California and I can't say enough about the location. It's on the pier at the beach. In the perfect spot for relaxing by the ocean. We loved our stay at Casa Karmina. We found the owners/hosts very helpful and informative. It is a classic beach house and ocean related weathering is to be expected, everything was clean and well maintained. The view is amazing, the beds were comfortable. There are air conditioning units in the 3 main bedrooms and the sea breeze kept the living area very comfortable. There is a portable fan if needed too. Our family of 6, with 'kids' from 8-21 all had a blast. The youngest spent most time at the beach taking advantage of the available boogie boards and loved the loft bed. The young adults were happy to join and play in the waves for a bit but loved the location as it gave them the independence to go exploring on their own. We walked to lunch and/or dinner several days - there is a wide variety of cuisine available. For the more adventurous there seemed to be a lively bar scene in the evenings at Washington Square which we just observed on our way back 'home.' I loved early morning walks along the boardwalk or the canals. Casa Karmina gave everyone the ability to be as relaxed or adventurous as they wanted and we hope to return! read more

Spent Labor Day Weekend 2019 there with my husband and our grown children (7 people total) and it was an absolutely perfect stay. The location can't be beat; the owner was the perfect mix of attentive and non-intrusive. They provided unexpected amenities (toiletries, soap, shampoo, paper products, extra towels, condiments). Bikes, beach toys, hot tub, hammock, and sun were also included. It looked newly remodeled and was just a perfect place to spend a relaxed vacation weekend. I saw a few negative reviews here and have a hard time comprehending this is the same place we stayed. I am hoping to make this a yearly destination until I can buy my own! read more

NO AIR CONDITIONING! That needs to be disclosed--our vacation was so hot and we couldn't get cooled off because NO AIR. Great that it was on the beach But otherwise it was awkward how present the owners were, beach toys all rusted or broken, scooters broken, patio furniture on roof rusted. Walked in to the place to find the Entire entry covered in shoes. The kitchen table seats were so filthy that we covered them with towels just to be able to sit on them to eat. The foam to put on the hideaway couch had disgusting stains all over it. If I could have gotten out of it I would have. read more

Hands down, best location in Venice Beach! We just had our wedding at Casa Karmina and my parents also stayed at the house for the week leading up to the event. We couldn't be more pleased with the house or our experience! Robin is fantastic! We will be back!!! read more

Although the location is beautiful I was disappointed in how "hands on" the on-site manager Robyn was. I went there with 12 other middle aged professional women and felt like a teenager tip-toeing around the property. In fact, this vacation was strained to say the least. We paid well over $2800.00 to enjoy the beach and have fun! If you like to laugh out loud and talk in excited (possibly loud at times!) way and enjoy alcoholic beverages while enjoying your vacation without someone constantly over your shoulder then this would NOT be the place for you and your friends. If, on the other hand, are looking for a place to meditate and enjoy the views and surrounding areas then you found the right spot! At one point, Robyn brought up two of her male companions to the rooftop deck while we were sunbathing to show them the view and let them play instruments! It was like she was in every photograph of "our" vacation (strange at best). Along with our partially returned deposit we also recieved an AA pamphlet!?? Very unprofessional behavior. read more

Casa Karmina is a great family rental. If you are looking for a "hands-on" landlord that's going to come into the unit to check on things throughout your stay (even while you're sleeping) then this is your spot. It's a beautiful location and the roof deck is amazing. I do not recommend this place if you or anyone you are traveling with is a smoker, as smoking is banned on the entire property. The rental is very well maintained and has a very homey feel to it. If you are looking to play music, games and have friends come visit you while you are in LA then this is not the rental for you. But if you want a beautiful and relaxing family beach rental in Venice this may be a good choice. read more

The property itself was beautiful, and the deck and hot tub were a major plus. The accommodations were a bit smaller than the pictures made it out to be, but it was cozy and comfortable. The reason for the lower rating is that the owner lives in the apartment below and is very concerned with all activities taking place in your unit. No privacy. Casa Karmina could be a great place to stay. I gave it one star for location. It is close to local restaurants and shops. Since it is close to these establishments, there is constant yelling and sirens throughout the night in the alleyway behind the condo. The towels smelled sour and stale. I had to wash a load of "clean" towels before using them again. There is a definite pest problem. Ants were crawling on the stove and counter tops and were such an annoyance. We found ant traps on the floors. This tells me ants are a continuing problem that needs to be addressed before renting to tenants. When stripping the beds as requested, I found stained pillows, gross! I am glad I brought my own pillow! I question cleanliness. Lastly, I wish I would have seen the prior review about the "hands-on" landlord. I have stayed in other properties with the management on sight and never saw them during our entire stay. I can't say the same about Casa Karmina. The property management was intrusive during our stay. She watered plants while we were sunbathing up stairs. She brought tenants from her other properties over because "they were bored". She did not ask for our permission to bring strange men to our all girl weekend. I am not sure what that was about, weird! I expect a certain level of privacy when I rent a condo or a hotel for that matter. Privacy is taken away when the master bedroom shares a balcony and a DOOR to the managements apartment. The ability to listen to private (so we thought were private) conversations or the ability to come into the master bedroom at anytime is just plain CREEPY! I definitely do not recommend any large groups to stay here, heck, not even "loud" families would feel welcomed here. For noise needs to be at a whisper. Worst experience ever. We stayed in the upper room off the top deck and it was disgusting. The carpet was filthy, the doors and windows were so dirty they had a hue. The mattresses were on the floor, the sofa bed couldn't be slept on because it was so uncomfortable and the 2 inch mattress was dirty. There is a piano in the living room that takes up half the room and they store junk under that piano. The whole place smelled like dirty must. Everything on the patio was rusted and the hot tub looked as though some DIY person did the wiring and was a electric accident waiting to happen. We paid $1800/2 nights and we feel as though we were held up by the owner. Any good reviews on this place are fake reviews. In the photo you can see the small staircase that goes to the loft where there are two mattresses on the floor. The carpet in the living room was not vacuumed it had beach sand. Everything about this place sucked and we got taken by the owner, we tried to get our money back but he said no refunds.
