TV was small with minimal channels. Nice bed. Microwave, sink and fridge. Really nice shower. Wish there was an ice machine on property. Street noise in the morning is a bit rough but I'd definitely stay here again.

We were able to go out and enjoy the weather once the rain cleared, and we were treated to a beautiful double rainbow over the marina on the last day of our stay. This was particularly disappointing given the fact that the weather was absolutely beautiful, with the nice breeze accommodating the 75 plus degree or so weather. According to management, they have heard the immediate neighborhood and others speak about the infrequent hours in the closure, and plan on reopening it in time for Memorial Day weekend. It also did help that Sam's coffee call, another great spot inside this hotel was also closed. Apparently their hours are a little more stricter and based around the morning crowd. All in all, the ambience, location, and good vibe feeling still are going to dominate this particular location and hotel. You simply can't go wrong, even if the rooftop is closed. We ultimately went to the Rizzo restaurant inside. Whether you're a local or not, always try to call ahead and make sure that their rooftop is going to be open. It may very well enhance your visit tenfold.

Turned away Ambassador Elite guest at 10 PM with two young children in the car…read more I'm writing this review after one of the most frustrating travel experiences I've had with Marriott in years -- and I've stayed at Marriott properties across the country for a long time. We were driving from Las Vegas - an 8-hour trip with two young children in the car. The reservation at TownePlace Suites Thousand Oaks/Agoura Hills was made on our behalf by a company that regularly books Marriott properties for us. They did reservation late, around 9:30pm? When we arrived at the hotel. The cardholder is a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite member -- the highest tier in the loyalty program. The booking process is always the same: the card is placed on hold, and a standard Marriott third-party credit card authorization form is submitted. This is a routine practice accepted at Marriott properties nationwide, including other franchised locations, without issue. Not here. We arrived around 10 PM, exhausted, kids asleep in the car. The front desk informed us that they would not accept the credit card authorization form. When I asked why -- since this is a standard Marriott procedure -- the staff told me the property is a franchise operated by a separate LLC and is "not required" to follow the same policy as other Marriott hotels. No call ahead. No warning. No attempt to find a workaround for an Ambassador Elite guest. Just a flat refusal at 10 PM. So there we were: two tired children in the car, a hold already placed on the cardholder's account, and no room. I spent the next hour in a dark parking lot searching for another hotel that would take us in for the night. A few things worth noting for anyone considering this property: The "franchise" excuse is a cop-out. Yes, many Marriott properties are franchises -- but the vast majority honor standard corporate booking practices, because that's how business travel works. This property chose not to. There was zero customer service recovery. They also said that it's WEIRD when I am CHECKING INTO HOTEL THST LATE with intention to do it with card authorization form?! No one offered any help. No offer to call another Marriott for us. No apology of any substance. No effort to accommodate an Ambassador Elite guest's family stranded at night. The branding is misleading. If you're going to carry the Marriott name and benefit from the Bonvoy booking engine (btw front desk person said, they don't care about Bonvoy, it's just a point system lol), you should honor the standards guests reasonably expect from that brand. If you're traveling with family, booking through a company, or expecting the level of service that comes with the Marriott name -- book somewhere else. I will file a formal complaint with Marriott corporate and with Bonvoy Ambassador Services. Leaving this review so other travelers don't end up in the same situation we did.

They offer complimentary continental breakfast from 6am to 9am and they have a bar with kitchen open in the evenings for dinner and/or drinks.

It can be quite loud in the rooms given how busy the area is and there are often buskers around or near by so if you're a light sleeper you may want to look elsewhere. Another thing to be aware of is the valet parking which is over $70/day. There is a parking garage right across the street which is much cheaper. Overall the hotel was nice and a pretty good experience. It is in a crowded area which can make it hard to get in and out of. Parking is very expensive and the noise level is high. I would recommend this hotel if you are planning on staying in the area and either exploring on foot or using ride shares. If you are planning on venturing away from the area for most of your trip then I would consider staying at another hotel.
