The main reason that it is not a higher star rating is because it felt like a switch and bait hotel. The photos online were beautiful and did show the view I was going to get, but outside of the view, everything else was false. Per the photos that were uploaded by the company, the shower was modern, the bed was modern, and the actual unit looked clean and welcoming. The actual site was completely different. Inside the room, everything looked like it was falling apart, the windows did crank open, but they were a hassle to open and close. The bed itself was very firm and had some mystery stains on both the bedding and the pillowcases. The bed frame was broken or was about to become broken. It made a god awful noise everytime I moved on it. The shower itself was small, but the water flow was strong, the only real issue was that it made this horrid, high pitched, screeching noise everytime it was turned on and lasted for as long as the shower was turned on. For the price I was paying, not including the pet fee and the refundable security deposit, I expected to get the room that I had seen in the photos and not a memory of the room that was presented on the website. At the end of it all, it's right across from the beach, everything is within walking distance and in the end, if I'm in Venice, I just want to have a place to sleep thats right on the beach. The worst "hotel" I have ever stayed in! There was no electrical outlet by the table with the coffee maker so I had to use the very tiny side table next to the bed (with a lamp on it). The interior was old and ugly. The shower head was low enough for a child. No instructions for the small TV so I could never get that to change channels. No soap in the room. The big window near the bed and street did not close all the way so the paper-thin blind covering banged back and forth through the night. BUT the noise at night was just the worst! So many homeless talking, even screaming at 3am (had to call 9-1-1). Loud music blasting so there was no rest for the entire stay! Absolutely a pit of a "hotel." DO NOT book here!! read more

I booked this room on Expedia I got to the room. They told me I had to park two blocks away. The building is old. It was ugly. She tried to give me a ugly room. They look like I was standing in a homeless shelter then she switched me to another room, which is no better. Well I got ripped off for $200. I am glad I only stayed one night. I booked an economy room with partial ocean view based on photos presented on Booking.com. I was told there was parking adjacent to the hotel. Well when we arrived there was no parking next to the hotel. I was told to park at a garage 3 blocks away. The front desk did not offer to check my bags so we had to carry our luggage 3 blocks after parking. When we got to our room it was so bad I thought there had to be a mistake. The room looked nothing like what was shown on booking.com. The room was so tiny you had to turned sideways and shimmy along a wall to clear the bed to the so called "kitchen". No AC and couldnt get the windows open. The worst part was the partial view of the ocean. There was no place to sit or even stand to view out the window and see the ocean. You could stand of the bed or bend over a small ledge to stick your head flush with window to get a glimpse of blue ocean off in the distance. You could not see the shoreline or breakers. Terrible service. I had a room booked at Air Venice June 2025. I called at 10:30p to confirm that I could arrive at 11pm. There was no parking and there were homeless people heckling outside. I was unable to park my vehicle (a camper van) in the vicinity and would have had to walk very far through bad areas to walk into the hotel. No one answered after 4 calls to direct me where to park. They refused a refund the day even for subsequent night stays. Bad neighborhoods, terrible/no customer service. They will respond to this by saying I'm lying and that they answered my calls and this is wrong. They are lying. read more

Omg... this was the worst hotel ever, but some how i got the best sleep in life here. There is no AC, no screens on half the windows, and an odor that smells like the stench of decay is creeping past the lime -- but its steps from the ocean and Fig Tree. The adjacent restaurant, Venice Ale House, is horrendous, atrocious, and tastes like , but if you explore a few feet Fig Tree was the best food i have ever eaten. Well made, sustainable portions, and great views. So, if you focus on things other than the hostel -- err, hotel, and you keep an open mind, it's a 1 Star vacation that you can enjoy if you're in a pinch and want to enjoy the ambiance of Venice for the extremely low, low. Five stars all the way, I was so glad we asked for an ocean view because we got to sit and watch the board walk and the sunset and it was so fantastic, if I am ever in The area again this is where I will stay. The young man at the counter when we checked in was extremely helpful and made some suggestions that were fantastic for places to eat and shop. The security on the building is tight and there are no key cards, also I got my security deposited back within an hour of checking out. If you have a car make sure you talk to them first, we paid 50 bucks for parking that was right across the street from the company they use which is only 20 bucks. I didn't know or I would have parked with their company. Rooms were also huge, and very well kept. I have been traveling for about 10 years now and this was a combination of the perfect room and perfect price. If your staying in Venice it doesn't get better then this. read more

This is not a hotel but a HOSTEL! The advertised pictures on hotels.com and other travel websites are inaccurate. We did a booking on hotels.com by seeing the pictures. When we go in we are totally thrown by the room given to us. It was nothing like what was advertised. Dark, shabby and with a tiny window. Upon inquiring with the staff, we were told that hotels.com has wrong photos and we should call them and check and work on a refund or cancellation. We spoke to hotels.com and requested to be moved to another hotel. Few reasons why this a hostel and not a hotel: 1 - No valet, no support staff, no receptionist most of the time 2 - You will get a door code that you have to enter to get in the building 3 - No turnover service for used/dirty linen 4 - You have to bring your own trash to the lobby to get it thrown out 5 - To checkout, you have to send an email that's stuck on the door Also, parking is a mess and the area is not the best. read more

We are in love! We decided last minute to go ahead with our previously planned and canceled beach trip. We booked the day before and got a nice full beach view room, 5th floor. I am glad I did not read these reviews before booking. We had issues with Expedia so we reserved via their actual website. Then called to confirm. They were super nice. We arrived very early for their 4 o'clock check in. After walking the dead Venice strip (it was Xmas day) we only killed an hour. Our room wasn't ready. We asked to be notified when it was ready. We drove around and checked out where to have Xmas dinner and to see what was open and kill some time. My only complaint is that we didn't get that call. At 4:30 we checked back and it was ready. We were able to find the $35 parking which literally was just behind the hotel. RECOMMEND! The other parking was half a mile away. Room was clean, spacious, not much extra crap which we liked! We don't meet all the extra space fillers. It came with a full size small fridge. A king bed, small table and two chairs. The view was amazing! Open the windows! Took us a bit to figure them out but left them open other than the windy rain storm that woke us up middle of the night. Spraying water into our room. Super fun experience that we brought upon ourselves. We loved it so much we decided to stay another night and thankfully our room were available (off season). Ignore the other reviews. It's a beach front hotel ON THE BOARDWALK. Price was on point and staff was amazing. We could have saved $20 with a shitty hotel 8, No thanks. So, I'm in San Diego and I called this place two days before I booked to see if an early check-in was possible. They said yes if the room was available. I told them I would arrive at noon, and they said they could hold my bags for me. I arrived at 2pm and my room was not available. They have no parking and claim they have a discount at the Renaissance. They have no discount as everyone gets $20 a night. I assume they get a kickback. It's not a short walk away. When I got back to my wife who had gone out to the beach, she was freezing. It was about 3:30 and we walked back to check-in. It was 3:40p and the now new attendant who refused to give his name said it's not ready, check-in is at 4p. I said I think it's kind of ridiculous that we got here at 2p and you couldn't have our room made up before 4p. So I go outside and crack a beer, and sit on the steps. He comes out and says don't ever speak to me that way. I said I was only voicing my opinion and I didn't think what I said was that bad. He says do you have luggage in here, and he brings our stuff out and says you have to go. He had hidden one of our bags and when we asked about it, he said it wasn't there. Anyway he goes outside like he is going to fight me so I go out and approach him and he starts crying , oh what are you going to assault me now. They refused to give us our last bag and when we called from San Diego they said they had it, that we could come pick it up from 4 hours away and hung up. The view windows are tiny and the pictures in the ads are completely deceptive. Pay a little more, this is a boarding house where the side of the building faces the ocean so the only view is out miniscule side windows. We got catfished on this hotel . On the website it shows a really nice hotel with a king bed , big bathroom and more. We opened the door and were met with a small bed a smaller bathroom a shower door on our shower that doesn't even move, so you have to reach into the water to adjust your shower accordingly. Not only that one of the walls in our room looks like it's barely hanging on for dear life. Something was wrong with our bed it made us itch really bad at night when we laid on it. Checked in at night and the first impression was that I had made a big mistake. Sure, things went wrong. This morning all was good in the bright sun. You couldn't ask for a better location in regards to the position on Venice beach. The folks that work here seem very competent and nice. They do their best to run an obviously old hotel in an old building. If you reserve the partial ocean view suite you'll pay a lot more but you'll get 700 sq ft 2 bedroom suite on the first floor. The suites have AC and a kitchenette and a nice big walk in shower. If you're expecting the Waldorf you're booking the wrong place. If you're ok with an old school beach vibe then book it. It was super loud at night, the windows let in so much noise. It was really warm and a little stuffy and there's no AC. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT STAY HERE. I never wrote reviews especially one as lengthy as this but I NEED to warn anyone and everyone even considering this place. First of all, its not a hotel. Its most definitely a hostel. We got stuck into staying here because it was accidentally booked through a third party and they would not give us a refund. The rooms are just completely half-assed. Which is fine considering the price as long as its clean. There was blood on our sheets which we discovered the second day cause we were barely in the rooms. And I woke up to the sound of THE BIGGEST FUCKING ROACH I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE (Legit a proper 2.5 inches) - rustling through my shopping bag for a good 5 mins before it showed its self. At that point we ran for the door in our underwear!! The guy downstairs was nice enough to come up and kill it for us (much nicer than the manager-thanks guy!) The beds are not beds...idk wtf they are but its more like mat. No cushion or comfort whatsoever. The shower floor is all patched up with what looks like tape. You can see mold on the walls. The plastering on the walls are all botched and messy. Theres no house keeping that comes in to at least take the trash and dirty towels oh and if you want towels you need to go down to the front desk to retrieve them. There's no phone in the room to even get in contact with the front desk and asking for them to deliver the towels to your room is frankly just asking for too much. Worst money ever spent in my life. The so called manager Joshua completely un phased and unaccommodating when we expressed our concerns and having to run out of our room in the middle of the night due to the massive roach. Told us that its "common" since we are right on the beach and sometimes they crawl in through the windows. Which wouldn't be an issue if the screen on the windows weren't falling off. I guess im supposed to just be fine with zero ventilation in my room. I live out here and I've stayed in plenty of airbnbs and hotels along the beach and never encountered an issue like this. I had family in town from NY that didn't want to stay at mine soo...Also, why I need a normal sized fridge in my room is beyond me. How is this place in business?! ALSO- DONT BE FOOLED BY THE OCEAN VIEW - you're in the bad part of Venice where the crack heads are screaming and making loud noose all through out the night. Air Venice was a complete rip off and I do not recommend staying there. I booked two nights nov 22nd to the 24th 2024 for my birthday weekend because I wanted to be near the beach. The pictures of the rooms online are misleading because it gives a completely different picture than what you get which is a dump masking itself as a hotel. When I got there the building looked run down and the room was dirty which a old glitchy tv set, old electrical outlets which some worked and some didn't, the shower was dirty and they expect you to take your trash down to the lobby and not leave it outside your door. The price per night was expensive considering how lousy the place is. I prepaid for two nights but after the first night I got up early and checked out because I was highly disappointed. I requested a refund for the second night which of course I didn't get. I highly recommend not staying at that dump they call air Venice it is not worth your money. Not a nice hotel. However, when I first arrived, the staff was super nice and friendly. There is a keypad to get into each room so no swipe-card. They gave a complimentary water bottle. Once I was in my room, it was pretty empty and not very well furnished. Cheap bed frame and a table with two chairs. There is also a mini fridge, fan, and tv that was already on when I walked in the room. The hotel is extremely loud. It is right on the beach which now has a lot of homeless tents and a restaurant right across from the hotel. The homeless situation is very sad and very present while staying here. It is difficult to get a full nights sleep because of the loud noise. The walls are extremely thin so it is easy to hear people talking, walking outside the room, and listening to music. When I woke up the first morning, I overheard a couple screaming at each other right outside my door. I could hear people fighting each other which is scary and should not be happening in a hotel. Everything seemed clean on a surface level, but it is the kind of place where you don't want to look too close at anything in order not to get grossed out. The shower was nice and had warm water. They give you a free bar of soap and shampoo - no conditioner or body wash. There is no cleaning service while you are staying. The area is not safe. My last night I heard multiple gunshots and saw a man beating somebody up in the street with a stick. I felt very unsafe and would not return. Check out is at 11 am. Around 10:45, I hear extremely loud banging on my door. When I opened the door, it was cleaners. I said," I am about to checkout," and closed the door. I found this extremely unpleasant. The few plusses are that the location is close to the beach (although there are so many homeless tents now), the staff is super kind at the front desk, and the proximity to Abbott Kinney, Santa Monica, etc. However, I would not recommend staying here. read more

Location is great for an experience in Venice & Santa Monica. You walk out of the hotel & in 3 minutes your toes hit the sand. A few things, this is not a luxury hotel but its worth the stay, seriously! FRIENDLY STAFF! This is a very realistic stay of Venice/LA living. It's in an apartment style setting or a studio setting, such as mine was. Hardwood floors, brink exposed from the old building, small TV attached to the wall & a nice bathroom with warm water to wash the days sand away. The door is locked by a key pad so that means you only have a small chain link style lock. They do have a safe for personal belongings. There is a comfy bed for maybe 2 people, it's an inexpensive bed so there is a left & right side decision, you won't be able to sleep in the middle due to the wood from the bed frame. Room has the necessities of a microwave and fridge, I had 2 gallons of water, a few sodas & 2 boxes of take out kept in it. The front door to get into the place is managed by staff 24 hours. You'll hardly be in the room or at least you shouldn't be due to the life that's taking place right outside. No AC or heater. Dress accordingly, cooler weather during the morning with very high sun reys but the sun peeks out at about 2pm. Use sunblock regardless if the sun is out lol. At night, it looks like you're in the middle of no where, everything shuts down on the boardwalk. During the day shops open up from restaurants, grab n go food such as hotdogs, ice cream etc and don't worry about there being no store around, during the day little mini-markets open along the boardwalk & you can grab all your little gas station like snacks/drinks. There is also a Starbucks less than a 5 minute walk on the boardwalk. During the day if you walk towards Santa Monica you can join any of their classes they have along the beach from cycling, aerobics, yoga, volleyball & so much more. You literally just show up, drop the $$ to attend and there you go. Pull cash to use on the boardwalk, use cash here, it's better. read more

When I asked for a refund in full or even half they denied my request and said they could not refill the space. Of course not, not on a weekday and I can't imagine they have any repeat business. The noise across the street from the bar was loud, the room temperature was hot, there is no AC in the room so the only option was to open a window and let in the noise from outside. The bed was terrible and squeaky. Venice beach vibe was scary. Didn't feel safe. There is no parking. They offer a place to park that is a few blocks walk, about 8 minutes they say. I now have to go back to my negative review. I tried everything to work it out with the people here. But this woman named Jamie just said I had stayed here too long so therefore I was not welcome here. Because apparently they have a policy that you cannot be a good/repeat customer and they will punish you for it(!???!!!). So my 7 year old daughter begged her to let us stay, telling her how much we had been through during COVID and how Lhasa's dad had molested her. She found that really amusing, and laughed at my daughter, mocked her, and told her we were not welcome at this hotel because we had been here too long (although we are exemplary guests and had paid all our bills and the hotel is not full...). So if you ask me, they should hire me and fire Jamie. Because I've never sued anyone, but this is such egregious maltreatment and bad service/lack of hospitality that I'm finally ready to sue (although my lawyer dad told me never to sue, and I never have...). previously posted a very negative review because of an argument with management that we have since resolved. I had a bad experience due to poor customer service and lack of communication. Yet we are all somewhat "communication challenged" during the COVID pandemic. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I tried to reach out to management concerning issues only to be forwarded an email conversation between them saying I was rude to someone I never met. Not to mention its COVID and all of my interactions were limited and masked. They didn't just talk about me but rather than address me by name, he wrote " Dear Guest". Wow. Just wow. Don't waste your money. No on-site parking either so you wind up parking 3 blocks away and paying extra for that too. 1. Banging on windows when people walk by- not sure why this was a "thing" but people felt the need to bang on the windows when they walked by. I felt like there was NO PRIVACY. Definitely couldn't relax because everytime I closed my eyes someone banged. 2. Music/band from restaurant across the street-- turns out this wasn't an actual band; it was the homeless people. I literally watched them pull their drumset from the tents that they live in and set up just as the restaurant opened and they set up their outdoor tables.  3. Room right at beach parking entrance-loud. Constant traffic in and out. People stand on the corner and chat which literally sounds like they're sitting in the room with us since the window is open for "ventilation". 4. Window ventilation/ air conditioner- I appreciate the effort but the way the portable AC unit is vented is problematic. The hole that is cut into the window and the blinds just sitting on top of the hose.. people can see right in because I could see right out. Again, NO PRIVACY. 5. Homeless living right outside the oceanside window view. It is literally all you see when you look out any window. Homeless tents. Disturbing. 6. Hairs hanging from clean towel shelf in the bathroom. Pretty gross. 7. No towel racks to hang towels . None. Nowhere to hang your towel in the bathroom. Or outside of the bathroom for that fact. 8. Sponge was old and dirty 9. Nothing to clean floors with while housekeeping services are suspended  There's sand everywhere since we are at the beach. 10. No dishwasher detergent for dishwasher 11. Coffee maker. No coffee. Brought kcups thinking the room would have keurig. Nope. Old coffeemaker. No coffee  12. Beds uncomfortable.  Very firm. Tiny pillows like they were cut in half or maybe they were throw pillows put inside of pillow cases. Not sure. 12. No tub. Advertised full bathroom. Just a walk-in shower 13. Advertised i would be able to hear the ocean waves. All I hear is homeless people, car doors, and skateboards and CONSTRUCTION. The smell of fumes and tar come directly through the hole cut in the window for the AC. 14. There was street construction for our entire stay. Again, I didn't sleep. There were people roaming and talking until after midnight. Banging on the windows and rail and constant noise. Stayed in room #8 with partial ocean view and for the price and the location, can't complain too much. The room was very chic and modern with IKEA furniture and the staff was very friendly with check in and check out procedures. Be careful with the corners of the furniture and your poor ankles (you'll understand if you stay). This is a non smoking hotel and there is a 500 dollar fee if you do smoke. Although there is no parking, the suggested parking (one up valet?) is a safe bet. It's about 0.5 miles away from the hotel but it's gated at night and there is always security there so we felt completely safe leaving our car. Despite the name, I don't think they do valet. If you mention that you're staying at this hotel, they do take off 4 dollars for the overnight parking price making it 16 dollars which isn't bad considering security. As soon as you step out of your hotel you're on boardwalk. I recommend the wee chippy, Urthh cafe, or Shoop's which are not too far from the hotel (0.6, 1.3, and 1.2 miles respectively). It does get loud on Saturday nights, but closing the window helps with that. Be warned that there is no A/C, which wasn't a worry for us since it was 69° all weekend long. Only thing is it can get stuffy if you close the window due to noise or anything like that in the daytime. There is a heater, though if you plan to visit in the cooler seasons. Nice ocean breeze at night! Can't beat the price and location. Give it a try! read more

Air Venice, what can I say. This was truly one of my worst vacation experience. I chose this place at Santa Monica because it's near the beach, damn was I wrong. This place has no public parking, so they recommended you to park some light green guardhouse (which I could not find) so they can reimburse on the first day. So I had to park at a valet parking that cost me $10. When I checked in, the guy told me he can't reimburse me because I parked in the wrong parking lot. Damn I was so mad and could not understand why they can't reconsider. He advised to drive to One Valet Parking Garage to stay overnight, which cost only $12 each night. So that sucks that we have to walk for 5 minutes to our car every time. When we arrived to the room, it looked pretty decent. There's a kitchen and an ok view to the beach. Not as great as I expected. The TV only had one channel and there's no air conditioner! When we slept, it was so noisy outside. Many homeless and people talking or making noise so it was hard to sleep. As our vacation was over, I asked the lady at the front desk if I can park my car at the front so we can load our luggage. She said we can, so I thought it was great. Well guess not, since I got a damn parking ticket! This was definitely my worst vacation experience and would never recommend anyone to come here! read more

Although the room was big. I didn't like no parking by the hotel had to walk 2 blocks just to park. Then a homeless camp is set up right outside. & in the room there's blinds but no curtains to keep the room dark and more private from the people outside. & the smell coming from our sink is so putrid if you're next to it. Tried to buy a 75 cent item with cash. They don't take cash so i go get my card and they won't take it because they "have" to charge at leat a dollar. Also, Called 3 days before to get early check in and even again early when i got into town, and they checked me in at 3:40 instead of 4 o'clock Worst hotel ever. read more

This Hotel! My employee stayed here for an Event we where hosting in Venice Beach, the next day she got PINK EYE. She went to see a doctor and got the drops, the very next day it got into her other eye! This is clearly due to the sheets of the bed. I'm so upset on her behalf. She tried to message the Hotel Manager and nothing was done about this on his part. So its my turn, please for your safety do not stay here. The area is completely surrounded by the Homeless. Its very sad to see this in person. This is a very noisy, smelly and dirty part of Venice Beach, that needs to be cleaned up. If coming to the area stay at Hotel Erwin, it very safe and extremely clean. read more

If there was no beach or view,,,, clearly 1 star. No place to park had to drive around for a hour. No body at front desk to answer any questions. There are homeless people camped out everywhere in front of the hotel. None of this was explained on hotels.com The room had a cool view. When did Venice beach get so bad? No lamps in the room. No real bedding - just a sheet and a thin coverlet. Nowhere to put away clothes. No closets. No dressers. No side tables. Everything goes on the floor. Or stays in the suitcase. On the floor. No place for things in the bathroom. I requested a lamp, but the bulb flashed off and on. (I'm serious.) The night staff person was miserable and unfriendly. They apparently rent space in the basement to homeless people. The daytime staff is quite nice. My bike was stolen, while chained outside the front door. The restaurant next door blares music all day and is simply, simply loud and terrible. People are always fighting outside the window. Screaming and yelling all day and night. If you are not planning to bring anything with you or spending any time sleeping, this place is for you. (You may want to bring a flashlight or a candle.) read more
