Kids bean and cheese

The food was good. I ordered an especial burrito and the shredded beef was tender juicy, and there was hardly any fat on it which I love. I will say I wish I would've got it smothered in their mole sauce because my mother ordered the chicken mole plate, which was super good. Had a chocolate with a pinch of spiciness to it so good can totally tell it was homemade. Service was great and was able to speak English fyi. The vibes gave mom and pop restaurant but was spacious not whole in the wall. Definitely coming back for that mole.

The beautiful menu doesn't fit the attitudes given....

The women that seats the customers was upset that we spoke up for this table. We waited 38 min to be seated and Maria the women in front that seats us gave my sister a dirty look because we spoke up. She was not very friendly.

Carnitas plate with rice and beans

I have been coming here for years as a local, I love the food here there is many great options. There's a kids menu and the prices are very reasonable The service is very friendly and welcoming along with very fast. They are very good people. The ambiance is like home. My favorite dishes is the flautas , and carnitas plate.

Food was ok, the chicken mole was good but the chicken was too dry. Their agua fresca tamarindo was delicious although a bit too sweet

The food hasn't lost its taste after so many years! My favorites are the Spanish omelette and the chilaquiles.

Do they still have the all you can eat buffet ? And how much is it?

No they don't. I was so disappointed the last time we went.

Do they have a California burrito on the menu?

A california burrito can be anything. Not sure exactly what you are asking for..

I was pleasantly surprised to see the owner bussing tables and personally welcoming guests--something you don't see often. I ordered the margarita trio with a shrimp cocktail, which was refreshing and well-balanced. My family ordered the carne asada tacos and the fried fish--both were excellent. The fried fish was perfectly seasoned, and every plate felt thoughtfully prepared and well executed. I hope this business comes back!!

We came here because my cousin DJSP was the featured DJ this Sunday, so I did my Yelp research and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect because the most recent reviews were a couple of months old, no recent food photos and menu photos were outdated. However we were going either way because it was also our featured DJ's birthday. We made reservations but that was difficult too as we called for several days until someone actually answered the phone. I was a little surprised because the food we ordered were all pretty tasty, decent portions, and reasonably priced. The service was ok. Orders took a little time to arrive, but they made sure we had chips and salsa and with a full crowd and a limited number of wait staff, they made sure we were still being attended too. It is very loud here with a full restaurant of diners, the live DJ and football games going with loud cheering fans, so if you have sensitive hearing, bring some ear plugs.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Great food! Staff was wonderful. Definitely worth it…read more Burria was fantastic. Not tons of seats, but good enough.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

Was able to sit anywhere on the patio which was great. Was given a menu but not a lunch menu. When the waitress finally came over, she asked me what I would like to drink. I told her an iced tea with lemon. She said they only had the sweetened raspberry tea because they ran out of tea bags. I'm not a soda drinker so I ordered a water with lemon. Then I had to ask her for the lunch menu. She saw I didn't have one, only the regular menu. She gave me the one in her hand. It took awhile to get my water, and I had to ask for chips and salsa, because I guess they don't hand them out unless you request them. I ordered my food the two taco lunch combo. It looked good, however, the food was pretty bland. Even adding the salsa really didn't help. Also the hard taco shells looked like the kind you can get ordering tacos at Taco Bell. Lastly, when getting the check, I noticed that they add an automatic charge if you pay with a credit card. Even though it wasn't much, I paid with cash to avoid that. I usually give places two chances before I don't return. However, I'll probably not return. I know other Mexican restaurants in Uptown that are much better.
