Everytime I've tried something here, I get a stomach ache for couple days, especially their old tasting desserts. 1st time stomach I thought it was just a fluke. Third try & 3 stomach aches later from the same place here & you're out of my books lol. Never again, No clue how this place has any business. I'm so glad more places have opened up in NL. Especially the Bellecour restaurant, the desserts there are 1000x better than the days tasting old crap that is served here at SnS. The interior is gorgeous, however, the entire establishment is a 0/10. I would not recommend this place to anyone. What an embarrassment this place is serving bad food to patrons. I recommend spending money at Porzana, Bar La Grassa, Bellecour... anywhere but here. This place is a joke for food. So embarrassing!

Plus with our spouses out of town it was a great excuse for a "boys night out" in downtown. Things were a bit quiet (it's January after all) but that was ok with me. We sat in a great two-person booth facing the huge bar. The restaurant features inventive cocktails so I had my usual when places have skilled bartenders-Markers Mark whiskey sour-made perfectly. The food menu features a lot of very reasonably priced fish and seafood dishes and some pricey steaks like a fillet for $88 (wow!). Sides are separate and they've got a long list of tantalizing starters too although you MUST try the amazing shrimp/avocado boats-4 crunchy little endive boats with a delicious ceviche-like mixture of tiny shrimp. Scrumptious!! And just a lite bite so you definitely have room for the fluffy grougheres with the fontina cheese dip. We tried the hanger steak-nicely prepared and the seared halibut with a Moroccan-style sauce-very interesting. For sides we loved the potato pave(square of scalloped potatoes) and the fried eggplant with a sticky honey bbq drizzle. Our server Dominica took excellent care of us a Carl did a nice job assisting-water glasses were always full (to me a mark of a well run place). Alas, as with all the spots on Washington parking can be an issue. They offer valet ($15) but I luckily found a spot on the street 1-block down. Definitely will be back soon.

We arrived around 5:30 p.m., about 30 minutes after opening. The room was dark, cramped, and louder than the small space can really support. The playlist was distracting, and the kitchen staff audibly singing along did not help the atmosphere. Service was well-intentioned but missed the mark. Our server could not tell us whether the main component of a dish was cucumber, fennel, both, or something else, which is a basic menu question at this price point. Timing was off throughout the meal, so if you are expecting polished, well-paced service, I would look elsewhere. The food was the biggest disappointment. I could see an attempt at creativity, but the dishes felt more confused than composed. Several flavors landed at extremes: too sweet, too spicy, or too heavy on fishy funk, without enough balance to pull them together. It felt like "fusion" without a clear point of view. Parking is also difficult in this part of the North Loop, so plan for a ramp, valet, or extra time and money. I would not return for happy hour, dinner, a hosted meal, or a special occasion.

The wine list is really thoughtful and leans toward smaller, lesser-known producers and unique regions. Even if you know wine well, there are still plenty of interesting picks here. Just note that by-the-glass options are limited, so it's more of a place where you end up ordering a bottle. The space is beautifully designed. Very minimal, clean, and intentional. It feels elevated without being overdone. It is definitely expensive for what it is. Both the wine and food lean high in price, but you're also paying for the atmosphere and overall experience. The menu is also a bit different in a fun way. The tinned fish selection stands out and isn't something you see often. The radish butter and bread was a highlight and absolutely worth ordering. Service is a little unconventional since you order at the counter, which feels a bit off given the pricing, but everything still runs smoothly.

We wanted a recommendation and the wine picked for us was excellent. Went with the Plavac Milos. The food is honestly incredible! The carrots were my favorite. Someday I'll get enough courage to try the tinned fish. I wish seating was a little more comfortable for the whole "drink a bottle and stay awhile" vibe. It also can get pretty loud when it's busy in the tight quarters.
