We love it here. A step above the usual neighborhood cookie cutter Mexican places that are cropping up (ie. El Loro-style). The food is consistent and if you come at lunchtime you get the best home made taco chips. Good margaritas and friendly service, comfortable ambiance, high tops and booths. This is the old Scotty B's location and I think it's a big step up. (I was never a fan of the old place). You will see lots of families for dinner and that is a good sign. read more

As a Texan who grew up next door to a Mexican restaurant, I've been looking for a place to fill that void the last 9 years since I moved to Minnesota. Boy oh boy did we get lucky moving to the west metro where we are only minutes from the best Mexican restaurant north of the red river! While it took a while, we finally found a Mexican restaurant that has "put it all together." Yelpers, you have to give Casa Amigos a try! First, our table was well served by a friendly, knowledgeable, attentive server. Rodrigo was great from the time we entered on a Sunday afternoon, throughout the meal and until we finished our visit. I watched him take care of numerous tables and it was obvious the other guests were also well cared for. The restaurant was VERY clean. From the window ledges to the restrooms, cleanliness is an obvious priority to the owner and staff. Really nice, detailed presentation of the good sized entrées (see photos). Our Fajita Taco Salad and Chicken Fajitas arrived quickly and looking great (obviously care taken by the kitchen). Veggies were fresh. By the way, the chips and salsa provided at arrival were perfect; fresh, not too salty and tasty. Sooo...I'm obviously a fan and would be very disappointed if other Yelpers had a disappointing experience. We'll be back! I seldom give "5's" but I've no hesitation with this one. read more

Went there for the first time with friends! Definitely a busy place but got a booth. Pro's of the place is good portions are very generous, service was solid, Gold Margarita was good and food quality was good. Cons are the salsa is very bland, the Queso was average and very tight inside so if you have 5 people the booth is your option and it's tight. I got the flaming Fajitas and they were delicious! The burrito also was huge and packed with flavor. It's newer so they will work through the issues but hope they get salsa with flavor! I'd go back for sure based on price and main meals being very good! read more

Casa Amigos is an excellent, authentic Mexican food restaurant, with amazingly delicious and generous portions of true Mexican dishes. Our favorites are the giant Shrimp Cocktail and Chicken fajitas. The service is friendly and efficient. The prices are extremely reasonable. We live most of the year in Tucson, Arizona, where there are phenomenal Mexican restaurants. We typically will not go to Mexican restaurants outside of Arizona. Casa Amigos is as good as any top Mexican restaurant in Arizona. New Mexican restaurant in the former Scotty B's location. We were met at the door and seated immediately. Follow up with waters, chips, and salsa immediately. Then we waited for 10 minutes with no additional service. Time we typically would've enjoyed a drink as a starter. Instead we ordered everything at once. Patron margarita must've had just a small trace of tequila. Huge fishbowl size but literally no taste of alcohol. Food was served with minimal sauce. Poured salsa on enchiladas to moisten them up. Went for the first time today. They were pleasant and the staff attentive. I ordered shrimp tacos with black beans. I got overcooked shrimp tacos with refried beans. The pico was good, the sauce was good but very small amount for 3 tacos. The amount was good in the tacos but you can't have overcooked shrimp with burn spots. When I brought it to the attention of the waiter, he said I should have told him earlier. He apologized, spoke to the cook but did not do anything to rectify it. They are new..but he owns 5 of these in different locations. I would guess they have this menu down pat. I might give them another try but the black hair in my companions chili cheese sauce put it over the top. We told the waiter about this but again..he did nothing. Yuck. read more

Super welcome addition to the neighborhood. Family run and operated, it's a busy place. Been there a few times - house margaritas I'd pass on but others tried the fruity cocktails with rave reviews. Fajitas are amazing, service is fast and great. Just a perfect middle-of-the-road price wise with satisfying chow. While Scotty B will be missed, I believe this restaurant will be around for a while. read more

Went here for the first time with a super open mind. Usually when Mound offers food options that aren't American style, it's not something i'd rave about with the last Mexican restaurant being a flop. Honestly I loved it, i had ordered the birria tacos and was very content. Very large portions and lots of flavor in the beans. Our waitress was very kind and i had enjoyed the interior of the place too. Would recommend for anyone looking for a taco in the area! We have been eating at Casa Amigos since they opened. We tried the other Mexican place in Mound. Food was too greasy and pricey. We won't be back again. The service was good and the food OK - just not what I expect for "Mexican" food. Everything seemed to be assembled to resemble a Mexican dish but was not prepared as one. Enchiladas were basically some beef (not seasoned) wrapped in a corn tortilla with some cheese and sauced ladeled on before being microwaved. These enchiladas were not cooked as an enchilada- they were assembled using basic ingredients, plated and nuked. Chips and salsa were good as was the queso. We ate at Casa Amigos three times in the first week it was open. Excellent Mexican food at very reasonable prices. Highlights include consistently good margaritas (not so sticky syrup sweet as is so common in other restaurants now) and great food. Fajitas were good but the burritos and enchiladas have been excellent. Service has been excellent, despite being in the early days of this establishment when there are typically challenges. There have been no real complaints but a couple things for the management of this restaurant to consider include: it is a bit over lit after dark. If you are serving alcoholic beverages, dim those lights a bit for some atmosphere. We did have one (out of 3) waiter try a bit too hard to up-sale us at multiple turns. You've got an excellent establishment. Let things like that happen on their own. read more

Start by making or getting better salsa. The first impression was not good with salsa that tastes like it is from a can with no flavor or even a little kick. Paloma cocktail also not good. Dinner was Ok. Not great just Ok. read more

Went back and forth between giving Casa Amigos 3 or 4 stars, but at the end of the day, everything has been "good". We have never had to wait for a table and the servers are friendly. The menu is HUGE and the prices are great in comparison to dining out anywhere else. I've had the fajitas were were delicious (and huge). My husband has enjoyed the burritos (also huge). There was an authentic style chicken soup that had a ton of chicken (and, you guessed it, huge). They do offer unlimited chips and salsa, which I wish were better - the chips could be saltier and the salsa is so thin that it doesn't stay on the chip. I think I've gone home with salsa on my shirt every time. Flavor is good, though. Can't comment on the cocktails because we haven't ordered any. Music is played perhaps a little loud, but better than not at all. All in all, we have not had a bad time at Casa Amigo and it is, in fact, good (not great). :) read more

Food was okay but would much rather a different tortilla as corn tortillas are much better fried. We had chips con queso and guacamole along with taquitos. Mixture inside taquito was not great and not authentic to Mexican culture. The atmosphere was nice and cozy. I think a great suggestion would be to add more authentic Mexican food for people to try while also having the Canadian version of Mexican food available as well. I think people here are craving things more authentic and unique. As there is a growing population of Mexican people in town, having those authentic options could help them feel more at home while their here. I would like to come back in the future if there is a menu change. Service was good and the drinks were also good. read more

TLDR: mid food, awesome service, i liked Scotty b's We came here before a showing of a play at the local high school. used to go to Scotty b's a lot. we hadn't tried this place yet. so we popped in for dinner. I got the fajitas which were piping hot and quite good, though the steak was a bit too crispy and a bit small. my mum tried the chimichangas which were also a little to crispy. They also could have used more cheese sauce. I did quite like the restraunt that was here before (Scotty b's). The service was incredible. the food came quickly and more notably was the waiter who was not only quick and polite but in general competent. So in conclusion, the food was fine, the service was good, I think this was a pretty good addition to are town, maybe not as small townish as scotty b's but certainly a decent restaurant read more

I order the Carne Asada Fries to go and my fries was not done. They where not crispy and super soggy.

No online reservations or good list taking system. A server was attempting to keep a list while running around doing other things. It took a while standing in the lobby to figure out who to give our names to as no one approached us in the crowd of other waiting diners. Dinner orders were not correct. Biggest issue is that servers seemed to not care at all. I'm fine with mistakes if given even a small apology but definitely felt like they didn't care about our business. They were out of several drinks we wanted to order. No Mexican white sauce with the chips like you'd get at El Loro/El Toro and other similar Mexican restaurants. Tried again with a delivery order and none of us got anything remotely like what we ordered. Substantially less portions of meat. Pans half full of rice and my entree wasn't even supposed to come with rice, only beans. Will drive a little to get better quality. read more

I hate being this person but my experience at casa amigos has not been the best to say the least. The first time I went I ordered a Mojarra dish ( Fried fish) the fish was still raw. Then they apologized and blamed it on how busy they were. Gave them the benefit of the doubt ordered camarones a la dabla shrimp with a spicy sauce. Shrimp were raw forgot on what they blame it on. Well I should have stop going after those experiences but didn't anything seafood is horrible at this place there seafood soup is literally Tomato sauce with imitation crab. The last time I went with my son I was standing at the check out for somone to take my order everyone kept passing by not helping for at least 4 min don't let me forget the lady waiter who kept looking at me but kept giving me a stank face. Finally I had to ask somone if they can take my order.ordered 3 plain steak tacos and Quésobirria tacos took them 45 mins. Never again read more
