Here's a quick summary, we didn't have particularly high hopes for finding good Mexican food in St. Marie's but we were pleasantly surprised. Casa De Oro has a great spot overlooking the golf course. It wasn't busy on a Monday morning and we were seated immediately and had our drink order taken. Chips and salsa arrived which were good but not overwhelming. SWPFTD went with the chicken in mole sauce while I went with the Casa De Oro burritos with pork. Both were actually really good. We have pretty high standards for Mexican food and we both enjoyed this. CDO is well worth a stop. We will be back for sure. read more

We split the fajitas. For $3 extra you get shrimp, chicken and steak. Not sure what the meat was marinated in but I could have ate that everyday. Super tender, not fatty and the flavor unbelievable. This place is "eh." I ordered carryout on a Saturday afternoon. The woman who took my order on the phone said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and waited another 10-15 minutes. I also had to remind them to get the drink that I had ordered and paid for. I paid $20-something for chicken and shrimp fajitas and a child size iced tea (they charged me for a regular size one). I was pretty sure half of my order of fajitas was missing, as there was very little chicken and shrimp. The order was mostly onions. They didn't give me tortillas either. The food was super greasy (saturated in grease). I suppose I should have ordered a cardiologist on the side. Hit or miss. Most of the time it's a miss. Today all but the back room was empty dirty tables. This includes outside. Super slow so the reason to not bus the tables is just laziness. We had a fine lunch, starting with tortilla chips and salsa almost before sitting down. The salsa in a carafe is a great idea, with individual bowls ( so as to not worry about 'double dipping' ). The Best (and really ONLY) Mexican Restaurant in St. Maries SITREP What can I say? It is the only Mexican restaurant in St. Maries, but it is good. SETUP My uncle Gary and cousin Dale and I always come here because after awhile we just get tired of the Burgers & Fries at Grub Box, and the Burger & Fries at the Drive-Thru, and the Burger & Fries at Bud's, etc. etc. Catch the drift? So "change" is good, and unlike having to travel the whole dam way to Coeur d'Alene just to find Chinese, at least we don't have to go much further than the local golf course clubhouse to find Casa De Oro. MENU Expect a traditional array of Mexican offerings such as tacos, burritos, enchiladas and the like. My "go-to" Mexican meal for first time experiences at new places I'm trying is a 2 cheese enchilada & chili relleno combo. Casa passed this with flying colors and I was truly impressed. SALSA The salsa here is quite exceptional here with the never-ending basket of chips, so I was happy on this count as well. SERVICE As mentioned by other reviewers, it was a bit lackluster, but I don't put as much weight on that as I do the food. THE LOWDOWN A solid Mexican restaurant experience. Perhaps I would have only given it 3 stars in Southern California. But after a week of burgers, this was a delightful experience to finally have. read more

My partner, his brother, and I needed a place to refuel after hiking at Lake Chatcolet and decided that Mexican food would be the perfect way to do so! I ordered the Vegetarian Burrito, my partner ordered the Seafood Chimichanga and a hot chocolate, and his brother ordered Chile Verde and a margarita. While we waited for our orders, we were given complementary chips and salsa to snack on. Whatever you order, you're definitely getting your money's worth. The portions were large enough for each of us to take home leftovers. The flavors of each of our entrees were comparable to any other family-owned Mexican restaurant, which is not a criticism! Food: I ordered something called the fajita wrap, basically they take fajita ingredients and put it in a flour tortilla, the sides were rice and beans. Nothing special about the food, it's Mexican food you would get at any average Mexican restaurant in the USA. Cost: The cost is a little more expensive than average Mexican restaurants, I think it's because the town is remote and because it's located inside the golf course clubhouse. Dining Area: Plenty of seating , old style booths where I sat, but they also have a bar like area and if I remember correctly they had bar seating and old plywood tables with metal chairs, typical cheap restaurant seating. Parking: Parking is plenty as it's located at the local golf course. Service: Service was mixed. The waitress I had (Jasmine) was excellent, she was very nice and attentive, but there was another older spanish guy there that was very rude and condescending to Jasmine on the floor in front of customers which was completely unnecessary and unacceptable. It made me feel a little uncomfortable for my waitress. Summary: RECOMMENDED for run-of-the-mill Mexican food. The prices are a bit higher than I think they should be, but that seems to be a common theme in Saint Maries. Deducted one star for the bad employee behavior, another star for the prices. read more

Jose, the main dude, doesn't care about you or the food. Margaritas are made in a five gallon bucket on the floor. Disgusting, dirty waste of time and money. Kellogg restaurant is 100 times better. This was by far the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Carne asada burrito was topped with plain tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese. The contents were 70+ percent refried beans, 25+ percent of really shitty mushy Spanish rice and some token pieces of meat that clearly was not skirt steak. Missing ingredients- onion, chili peppers, lime, salt, onion, garlic and cilantro. That just might be the base for many south of the boarder dishes, but what do I know I'm just a dumb gringo. The best part.. the waitress asks with hesitation- how's the food? Tasting good, I politely said it's edible, but tastes nothing like Mexican food. She replied well I don't know what to tell you. What a joke..didn't even say sorry. Do not eat there unless they get a new head chef/cook. So let me tell you how much of a breath of fresh air Casa De Oro is in this small town of St Maries! I moved here in 2015. There are not big chain restaurants in this town, this place is truly a hidden gem! Hidden as in you might miss it if you don't know where to go! I honestly think they need a billboard showcasing where to find them for out of towners. The food is excellent every single time, you must try to fajita quesidilla or the burrito oro! The views are gorgeous, most often you will see deer, elk, turkeys out of the golf course. The employees are wonderful and I have nothing but good to say about Casa De Oro! Stayed after playing a round of golf. My game was questionable but the food at Casa de Oro was not!! I usually avoid Mexican restaurants being a frequent visitor to Mexico, I am often disappointed. I ordered Camarones. Whoa. I was exceedingly surprised with how perfectly it was cooked and how delicious it tasted. I loved the atmosphere and the waitstaff was very attentive. Then came over and asked if we wanted desserts. I told her we already ordered some from our server and she proceeded to ask our very young children if they wanted ice cream... that girl might need some lessons on server etiquette. Okay with this one it is hit or miss! I have had both when its done right its great! Touble is you never know which it is going to be! I have had raw steak & uncooked potatoes, burnt food, and then i have wonderful fresh chicken taco salads. The manager is the nicest funniest guy around. The staff is sparse! We're travelers headed through St Maries and wanted decent food and a good atmosphere. A quick search on Yelp showed us all the local restaurants and a quick drive by through town told us that none of them were what we were looking for. Even though Casa de Oro is at the golf course, the atmosphere is casual and the food is excellent. (And the gold course setting is beautiful). Marco, the owner, was very personable and accommodating. A few locals also sitting at the bar were very friendly. We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and everything was delicious. While we haven't eaten at any other restaurant in Maries, I'm not sure why we would eat anywhere else other than Casa de Oros. read more

Regardless of the fact that there isn't much to choose from in Saint Maries, I have nothing but nice to say about this place. Food was hot. Jose was rad. And they've got probably one of the best house salsas I've ever had. It's nothing super-special, just your standard Mexican fare, but veggies were fresh and rice wasn't sawdust. Nay-saying douchebags are always gonna hate, so my advice is to disregard negativity.
