Cigar SuperStore. So many cigars, so little time. Their walkin humidor is a small warehouse. Cigars everywhere. The guy says they carry 700 lines, and many sizes per line. As I walk the aisle, I spot many rare and limited edition cigars. Behind the counters are the hot new releases. I found me some elusive Viage Skull and Bones. They even have Tat Blacks. Bottom line is.. if you are looking for something special, they will most likely have it. Ask them for help to put together a rare pack for that cigar aficionado in your life. The store has a cigar lounge. Its nice and comfy. I wished they'd hire someone to take better care of it. Give it some love and cleanup , and it'll be a fantastic lounge for sure. The folks that work behind the counter are very knowledgeable. They have seen just about every cigar out in the market and can advise you on your purchase. Simply fantastic! read more

Michelle is genuinely humble is my first thought, and empathetic towards customers that need to disconnect from the day to day work life. It is not often you can find a place that cares about the customer experience. Michelle knows how to cater to those needing to escape into a socially balanced environment. She has a way of making everyone feel VIP, even in a crowded room. If that is not enough, I absolutely encourage you to try one of her specialty drinks. Her mixes are amazing, containing unique flavors. As you can see, I am a big supporter of her and this location. read more

I'm no aficionado, I just happen to like an occasional cigar, really once in a blue moon. This place seems to have the best prices and selection in the area. Friendly knowledgeable staff, and supposedly the biggest humidor room in the world. I wouldn't know, but it's certainly a claim that's not only interesting but believable. read more

My partner and I made our way to Casa de montecristo for our one year anniversary. She is a huge fan of cigars so i decided to surprise her by coming here. It was our first time and I'm so glad we came. We absolutely loved it. First we made our way to the cigar shop, we were greeted right away and everyone was very helpful. Afterwards, we made our way to the lounge where Michelle served us. She was absolutely amazing and made one of the best old fashions I've ever had. We can't wait to come back here and relax with another cigar and another drink made by Michelle. I would 100% recommend. read more

I have been coming to Casa Monecristo for 3 years. I wanted to make special mention of Michelle the bartender. She is without question the best bartender I have ever seen. Her customer service and bartending skills are extremely noteworthy. She is very personable and always pours the perfect drink. I come to the bar specifically to see Michelle. This may be the largest retail cigar store in the U.S. - it's the size of small supermarket. It's larger than the old midtown JR. Any experienced cigar smoker will feel like a kid in a candy store. The brand you are looking for is likely to be here, although the most exclusive cigars within those brands may not be on display. Padron cigars are behind the counter, although they are not my absolute favorite, I cannot dispute their pride of place. The collapse of the cigar boom has decimated the midtown NY outlets like Arnold's, Davidoff, and Barclay-Rex, and having smoked down my reserves, this is likely to be my new browse. Prices here are good for retail, you likely can do better by mail order, but this is way more fun. I picked up E.P. Carillo, My Father, and some oversize Nat Shermans for a laugh. I added a discount sampler at check-out - eager to try the Aging Room cigar - the others were good brands as well. I did not find the cavernous lounge all that inviting - and while I like the idea of sharing a smoke with new people, the smoke level here was off-putting to me. I miss the days of grabbing a cigar at the midtown Barclay-Rex. I also miss the service and intimacy of the smaller stores. read more

I went there often, pre-covid and pre-renovation. Loved it, though old, the big cushy seats were fantastic. Now after the bar was put in, I've been there 6 times. It's close to my home. I'm sorry to say it's a totally different story. Each time I could not get comfortable, and after all isn't that what it's all about, have a smoke, a drink, watch a game on TV in comfort. read more

The store is very nice and good selection, decent prices The only reason in given them a three star is becase of the lodge I been smoking cigars for about twenty year and i been to a few cigar lodges around the glove The smoke so intense inside is it just too much for my taste!!! They need to have better ventilation !!!!! What a shame and a waste of a good place read more

UPDATE 7/12/19 I'm changing my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. This place needs a serious cleaning & upgrading/replacing tables & chairs. There is dust/ash everywhere. Cmon JR Cigars--you have to put some effort into keeping this place clean. I've been here SEVERAL times since my last review & it just seems to get dirtier. Also, the ventilation is horrible. With a space like this, ventilation should be top notch. I've been there at 8:45pm and the staff announces that everyone must leave at 9pm. You need to be at least open till 10pm every night with a location like this. read more

I go this place everyday by my house. I forget my mask. But I have long Sweater. And I covered my face with a sweater and I try to buy a cigar. But he was rude and he was nasty. He not let me by that cigar even I pick cigar. I was on register. He say he is the big boss. He say get out my place. His name john How you came up to manager. They teach you to behave longitudinally in your city. That's shame for this cigar lounge. Because it's such a manager. I went to Cigar World owner lady. I've been a patron of J&R Cigars now rebranded as Casa de Montecristo for over 30 years. Initially in the Wall Street area, now for the last 5 or so years at the Paramus rt.17 location. During all of these years I have never had a bad experience until last evening. The young lady tending bar was the worst representation of the company ever. There is no need for me to leave disparaging remarks, I just hope it doesn't happens again. Feeling harassed to purchase a drink from the bar and misplacing my 200k plus credit card is not a welcome sight, especially since it appears as though no one else was required to have their card held at the bar. This is a quality establishment with quality employees, but sometimes one employee can ruin all of the goodwill it has earned. Hopefully this was just a one time experience. read more

I like to indulge in a flavored cigar every so often, much to the dismay of my family. It's my only vice, so come off it! J-R's Paramus location offers an insane selection of all types of cigars, from popular to relatively unknown brands. They have everything from handmade cigars to domestic cigars, including J-R "alternatives" if you will. J-R's is like walking into a huge humidor, which is great, but it's not so great if you want to keep your hair silky straight. I have a 15 minute window of time to pick something out before the humidity wrecks my blowout. I was dying for my favorite coffee-infused cigar - Tabak Especial. Smooth as a cup of java. Much to my dismay, they were sold out of them. WHAT THE F?! Guess the secret is out. I opted for two new options from the CAO Flavours Collection - Eileen's Dream (white chocolate and Irish whiskey flavor) and Caramelo Joe (espresso, cream, and caramel flavor). They're "girlie" cigars (i.e. - skinny and small) but I figured they would do the trick. The Caramelo Joe possessed better flavor than the Eileen's Dream. J-R seems to carry a lot more flavored cigars than they used to. Their selection used to be slim, but now it's quite nice. The staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. They never pooh-pooh me nor make me feel like I don't know what I want (nor what I am taking about) because I do, dammit. Even when I go in there alone, they don't treat me like a clueless broad. So ladies, if your man likes indulging in cigars, then please go ahead and visit J-R's for a gift for him. The staff will help you pick out something amazing and they will not rip you off in the process. read more

This review really should be in two parts. The J&R humidor is awesome and rather imposing. What they lack in better & rare inventory they make up for in sheer ambience and volume. It's massive, well-stocked and visually interesting. It's also really humid with two steam machines cranking out lots of mist to keep their inventory well humidified and fresh. Unfortunately, they don't carry a whole lot of better inventory. For that I would rather go to Ridgewood Tobacco or just about anywhere in the City. The other half of the store used to be well...a store. In addition to tobacco and supplies they sold clothing, perfume, hats and nick knacks all of which smelled very much like smoke. I guess that was to be expected being located in a cigar store. They have closed the store portion and reclaimed the space as a cigar lounge. Not just a regular cigar lounge but a Montecristo premium cigar lounge. Unfortunately they missed the mark by a mile. Kindly advise who came up with this designation when they serve neither food nor liquor. By contrast, the Montecristo Lounge in Porterhouse in Montvale offers both as well as a far more visually striking interior. At J&R it's more like a collection of leather chairs, tables a few TVs and not a whole hell of a lot more. Not sure what one needs to do in order to become a Montecristo Lounge but clearly, it's not much. Sad because by allowing places like this to use the designation seriously dilutes their brand. This is more like a place you can go if you don't want to stink up your man cave. I think they were better off selling shirts. read more

Was excited to finally check out JR's huge humidor (it really is the largest humidor I've ever seen!) I wanted to get some great cigars at a good price. They do have a huge selection but none of the "rare" cigars I can get in NYC. No Liga Privada's (they did have the undercrowns), no Opus x's... The workers weren't very amicable, but whatever they weren't rude. I bought 2 padron maduro's and an AF Hemingway. Wanted to pick up a stick of MY Uzi weighs a ton, but they only had 10packs available. Smoked a padron in the lounge, nice comfortable couches with a few tables in the middle, and a 40" tv. The merchandise section is pretty big as well. If your looking to buy a box or 5 pack in a hurry, I'd say stop here and you can't go wrong. But you could probably find a better deal online. The lounge is a good place to relax, grab a coffee or soda and have a smoke, haven't checked out the restaurant. read more

I won J&R's "Cigar School" prize at a golf outing last year. The prize was for five of my friends and I to experience a light, pre-ordered dinner with soft drinks and then a relaxed time lounging in their parlor sitting in big comfy leather chairs. It's a nice setting to hear their experts, Jim and Paul, describe most every aspect of cigar making, cigar selecting, cigar tips (how to properly cut and light a cigar, for example) and just overall cool stuff you'd never know about cigars otherwise. Really unique weeknight with friends. They provide you and your buddies with three cigars each of their choosing - mild, medium and bold - and from there it's just "Chill". Very relaxed, very cool experience, even for someone like me who'll only enjoy a cigar during a special occasion (I'm not a smoker). The prize certificate said it was a "$225.00" value ~ &38/person. Well worth it for something different on guys night out! Thanks Paul for setting us all up and, Jim, for your immense knowledge of the world of cigar making. Have a great 2015! Only reason for not awarding five stars is because they don't have a liquor license (hard to come by in Bergen County). read more

I usually find some interesting and fun accessories there besides cigars at JR. I have bought tee shirts, wine accessories, candy, toys, plus other odd items that they have sometimes. They re-arranged their store which really utilizes their space much better. Near the back of the store near their humidified room is now set up with leather couches and flat screen T.V where cigar smokers can enjoy their cigars and socialize which is a great idea. Now the bad, everything that I bought smelled like cigar smoke. I guess whatever I buy I will have to air everything out and spray febreze, no big deal. read more

Service was great at the lounge however it's not a fully stocked bar. How can a fully stocked bar in a cigar place not have Captain Morgan. Wine and beer selection also very limited. Has the potential to be a great place if they upgrade the bar area and include waitress service. read more

I always come to this place to smoke with friends, and today I came , was the most satisfying smoke I had in years , the atmosphere was perfect, the people were really good specially Michelle, she was very attentive and polite and her manager Linda too , they were perfect working together. It has a divey, industrial, and rustic vibe to it, but hey... sometimes the best food comes from places that don't look like much. So I try not to judge. It wasn't too busy, and the service was attentive. The menu has your classic American comfort food - wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. They switch it up with daily specials like skirt steak, chicken parm, and pasta. They have a full bar with cocktails, drafts, bottled beers, can ciders, and wines. You can even do a four-beer flight and make it a tasting experience! I ordered: *Dark & Stormy Cocktail [Goslings Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice] ($14) - Not the best one I've had, but it was solid. If you like ginger and rum, this is a must try. It really needed more cheese and chipotle mayo to tie all the flavors together. The fries were the best part - thick, crispy, and golden! It's decent bar food, just not the best I've had. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great or memorable. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth it. I do appreciate that their food is served piping hot and fresh. To be fair, this is probably the perfect spot for beer lovers. I happen to not be one, lol. The burger options sound popular and promising too. I'd consider giving them another shot for Happy Hour or to try a burger, but it's not at the top of my list. Just because it's not the sports bar for me, doesn't mean it won't be the one for you.

I recently spent a very enjoyable and informative evening at Casa de Montecristo by JR Cigar in Paramus at a cigar class given by Steve Colella. I highly recommend attending one of Steve's classes for what will be a fun, entertaining and relaxing night. It is a welcome escape from the world for a few hours to enjoy and learn about cigars with friends, family or coworkers. They have a top notch full bar here so you can enjoy a drink with your cigar. Steve's instruction covers everything. You will learn how to properly light a cigar so you get a perfect burn every time and what to do to save a cigar should it start to burn wrong. Steve explains the differences in the tobaccos from all the growing regions and how cigars are constructed. He will tell you all about the fillers, binders and wrappers that are used to make a great cigar. Steve's knowledge is extensive and whether you are new to cigar smoking or experienced I guarantee you will learn something from him that will make your next cigar and every one after that much better! JR's has a big humidor. It the largest humidor I've ever seen. I wanted to get some great cigars at a good prices. They do have a huge selection but none of the cigars I can get in cities like NY. The staff was great and helpful. One person was a bit preoccupied. Big TV and great couches for a smoke. The rest of the store was well stocked with all that you need. Smoked a padron in the lounge, nice comfortable couches with a few tables. If your looking to buy a box in a hurry, I'd say stop here and you can't go wrong. But you could probably find a better deal online. The lounge is a good place to relax, grab a coffee or soda and have a smoke, haven't checked out the restaurant. read more

I frequent both Paramus and Whippany and find locations have excellent service and knowledgeable staff. Wish Paramus had the restaurant and liquor, but it is still a comfortable lounge and no problem with BYOB. Both have a great selections at all price points. Specifically wanted to compliment the manager of Paramus Chris for handling a complaint. Really did not enjoy a house brand, and Chris swiftly handled the problem and graciously made a more than fair exchange. It was memorable service just for the simplicity of solving a problem. If you are looking for exotic cigars and your usual ones that you get this place has them. My friend recommend this place as an avid smoker himself. The flavors he suggested were grape and orange. I love deep grape, so I got lister grape. It was so good. The smoke lasted longer even with the flavor. This place is super big. It has eve thing you need. Great humidor room! Vast selection of single cigars, boxes, 5-packs, and accessories. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The smoking lounge is roomy and has a great ambiance. I was here with six of my friends and experienced "Cigar School" with Steve the host. We received three cigars, a cutter, and a great dinner from a local Italian restaurant. Steve provided us with lots of interesting and important cigar facts and information. We had lots of fun and Steve had us rolling with his jokes! Literally the biggest humidor I've ever seen in my life. Huge selection of the finest smoothest cigars you could want. Lounge was very comfortable with plenty of room to smoke alone or with 30 of your brothers. All staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and gave us amazing service! I purchased a "cigar school" gift certificate at a silent auction and had no idea what to expect. Myself & 5 of my friends spent over 2 hours with Steve who not only is hysterical, but the most knowledgeable cigar smoker I have ever met. We learned everything you need to know about storage, smoking, rehabbing old cigars etc.. This was worth every cent, I cannot wait to do it again. I can, however, comment to great length about their accessories, specifically their humidors. A humidor is one of those things that straddles between function and decor. As such, I'm not from the school of going cheap. My Dunhill served me well for the better part of ten years but wear and moisture finally got the best of it and the lid warped, rendering it virtually useless. After doing my research, I decided on Prometheus. Their reputation for reliability, style and quality is virtually unsurpassed in the industry and I spent the better part of a slow morning at work trying to find an online resource with a decent selection. Unfortunately, I couldn't find many. J&R in Paramus had a few in stock but they were over $100 above list price and I wasn't prepared to do that. I went back to Prometheus' website and found Cigar World. After a quick call, I discovered they had the model I wanted in my specific veneer choice and off I was to pick it up. This is really a wonderful store with a virtually limitless selection of tobacciana and related accessories. I could have easily spent an afternoon doing some heavy damage in there. The only drawback is that, not surprisingly, the place was filled with smoke and I really wanted to get the hell out before my suit started to reek. I know that I'm in the minority of casual cigar smokers who will only partake in extremely well ventilated lounges or more frequently outside. And, if you think about it, me bitching that a cigar store smelled like cigars is really kind of moronic but hey, that's me. Anyway, if you're looking for a really great selection and friendly, attentive service, I recommend them highly. I'm sure I'll be back there soon, this time dressed a bit more casually.

The bartender seemed more interested in watching the women dance rather pouring drinks which was lame. My first time coming to Five Dimes was last summer and we came on a Saturday to hang out with a group of friends. I'm not a huge beer drinker so I opted for the cider which was okay. After the first one, they all start to taste good, right? Anyway, talking to my beer drinker friends that were with me and they didn't exactly love what they were drinking either. I love the concept of a brewery in Westwood - especially a location that has a rooftop where you can hang during the warm weather. I just wish there were more drink options or even a full bar?
