I was thrilled to see this restaurant was so close to my hotel. Unfortunately I was left extremely disappointed. The service was awesome. The waiter was friendly, kind and quick. However the food was not awesome especially for the price. I started off with a Caesar salad that tasted as if the lettuce was not washed. The dressing tasted as if it was store bought. I was disappointed. Then I ordered the truffle pasta. I have had plenty of truffle pastas and this was so plain , lacked flavor , and I couldn't even eat it. I always enjoy my dining experience at Casa D. I usually stick to the same order each time which is their lamb chops, but lately I have been venturing out of my norm and trying different pastas. I recently discovered the lobster gnocchi and absolutely adore it! The dish is creamy, but not overly done and the chunks of lobster meat are divine and plentiful. Aventura - Recently had dinner here intending to try the Miami Spice menu. However we decided to order from the regular menu without regrets. We began with two apps: The grilled octopus was perfectly seasoned and its texture was steak-like. Perfect. And their fiori di zucca was light yet flavorful. Moving on to entrees: The fettuccine bolognese was equally mouth watering and black spaghetti frutti di mare was absolutely delicious. Portions were generous. Their wine list is extensive. We had a wonderful bottle of Tuscan wine. We skipped dessert but had a smooth limoncello to finish things off. Service: excellent! The table attendant literally watches the table from afar to see if you need anything and is there before you can say "jack rabbit"!! Food: amazing!! We had seafood tar tar, seafood gnocchi, and grilled octopus. The gnocchi is probably the best I have ever had. It was clearly made fresh and in house. So succulent. On Father's day we had no reservations (rookie mistake in Miami of all places), and Casa D'Angelo was able to accommodate our party of 4. The service was great and the food was delicious. Very flavorful. The only thing my group didnt like was the special which was some cheese resembling brie with oyster mushrooms. The flavors werent too great paired together. It was alright. I wouldn't really go back but it wasn't bad. Seemed like a typical expensive Italian restaurant that doesn't have great food, but service was good. I got the lemon shrimp risotto and didn't taste any lemon. I asked for some lemon on the side and after adding it, the dish was much better. The grilled shrimps though, a separate entree, were pretty bad. Very tough. The chicken was fine but, just chicken nothing spectacular. Easy parking garage and the restaurant validates. The area seems safe with a few other eateries in the area. Upon entry the host stand was friendly. They didn't have our table quite ready, but after a few minutes we had a nice spot inside. They also had outdoor seating, but it was a hot day. The interior is intimate lighting. Service was outstanding. I enjoyed the food. I felt the Miami spice has some great options for this menu. We came here to celebrate my abuelas birthday with some of her friends and family today and had an awesome experience. Because of the size of our party, we had a prefixed menu consisting of choosing between two different salads, three entrees, and a platter of desserts. The salads we got to choose from were the Caesar salad, which was topped with Parmesan Reggiano and was absolutely delicious, or a summer salad, which had various different fruits and vegetables and topped with a cilantro dressing. I had the summer salad and it was delicious and light. Definitely a good way to start off the meal when there was a lot of hearty food to come. My girlfriend had the Caesar salad, which she let me have a bite of and tasted very authentic. I was hoping the main courses would be the star of the show, but unfortunately they fell a little bit short. My girlfriend and I decided to split the carbonara pasta and the chicken entree. The carbonara did not have that much pancetta, and some of us were struggling to find the few bits that were in there. The sauce was also a little darker than normal, which could have been because they added a little too much pepper. The pasta itself, however, was cooked perfectly! The chicken was not visually appealing, as it looked like it had been pounded for an hour. The flavors of the chicken itself were good, and was enhanced by the lemon it was served with. Also, the roasted vegetables it was served with were a little tough, especially the eggplant. The star of the show were the desserts! Every single dessert was absolutely incredible, and brought back memories of me being in Rome. The flavor of the tiramisu was amazing, and it was light delicate. The cannolis tasted homemade, the gelato was beautiful, and the tartufo was amazing! Everyone was basically licking the plates at the end because of how good it was! The staff were incredibly patient with us, as we had some guests show up an hour and a half late to the event. For this, I am especially grateful for their patience and it definitely enhanced the entire dining experience. They also did a very good job ensuring the everyone's wine and water glasses were always filled. I wish we could've ordered off the menu individually, so I will be back to try more of the food next time I am in Aventura! read more

What a great experience we had at Casa D'Angelo! We have been wanting to try this place for so long, and when we finally did, it met all of our expectations. First off, we sat outdoors and it was just beautiful outside! Quiet and elegant. We started off with some complementary bruschetta, which was fresh and delicious. For the main course, we had the penne alla vodka (amazing, rich and light at the same time) and the chicken parm (sooo delicious and the portion was gigantic!!). Lastly we had a delicious apple pastry dessert with ice cream. It was divine!!! The service was also fantastic! Our server was Gustavo. He was kind, patient, attentive and helpful! Another server named Amanda was also such a sweetheart! She was so friendly and kind to our blind dog. Lastly, the Maitre D was first class. His name was Cris (Cristaforo) and we were so thankful for his help. We bonded over our roots of Montreal and love for Mario Lemieux! This is our go to spot, especially on Valentine's Day. We've spent 4 out of 5 of our Valentine's Day dinner dates here as a couple. On our recent visit we felt very rushed. We wanted our normal dining experience. The waiter wouldn't allow us to order as usual - we had to give our entire order upfront because "they are extremely busy". No problem .. however our appetizer and salads came out at exactly the same time. We were in and out of the restaurant in under an hour which is crazy because we had an appetizer, salads, entree and dessert. A mixture of bentleys and maseratis lining an Aloft hotel parking lot usually would mean that a major drug deal is about to happen. Or perhaps a group of well off rich kids got lost on the way to a night club, regrouping in the parking lot for a ceremonial shot of grey goose. Then, there is the oddity of this restaurant. How Casa D'Angelo ended up in an Aloft is impossible for me to tell, but it did. It is their second location, with the original being located in Ft Lauderdale and over the years, receiving big accolades from Florida magazines and critics. The atmosphere here is on the upper end of casual, but not quite upscale. The patio area wraps around the restaurant and is isolated from the parking area by some bushes. It's not the highlight of patios by any means, but it is pleasant. It's a great place for a low key date. It also happens to be the place you go to if you want spectacular food. The meal at Casa D'Angelo was loved by the entire table. There wasn't a bad dish. The lamb chops are one of the best I've ever had, gorgeous glaze, juicy, fresh meat. The tortellini were made extremely well and the pasta sucked up all the gorgeous sauce, making it a real winner. The wines are an even better highlight as the bottles are priced well below Miami standards. Most bottles are being sold at or below a 2x markup, and there are plenty of excellent bottles under $60 to choose from. Very refreshing to see that as most restaurants tend to add crazy upcharges to the less expensive bottles. Our server was kind and helpful, so what more could one ask for? The spectacular food here truly makes this a destination to visit. An infinite menu of Italian delicacies is just hard to resist. While the other elements are also solid, this is a place to go indulge, relax and go home stuffed with happiness lining the belly. read more

I've been checking the Miami Spice website religiously for places that actually are open for dine-in. While I understand why other places are offering the Miami Spice to-go only, there's nothing than actually being in the restaurant and getting the full experience. Casa D' Angelo's dining room is really elegant but I opted to sit at their makeshift covered outdoor area. The tables were far apart from each other and they had fans so it wasn't too hot. I started with the Zucchini Blossom with Prosciutto, Mascarpone and Ricotta. It was quite superb and loved the nice crunch. For the main course, I selected the Grilled Branzino. Amazing! It was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist. For the finale, I had the Sicilian Cannolo. OMG. I haven't had this sweet treat in a while and this was perfection. Just the presentation alone made me drool. I also got a couple of rounds of Manhattans and they were also good. Not too sweet and pretty potent. For $39, their Miami Spice menu was good. The portions were just right and I didn't feel overfull. Of course, the drinks, tip, and taxes are extra but well worth it. Check them out in Aventura. Came here on a Friday with reservations and we got seated right away. This has been one of the best dining experiences I've been to in a while! I got the bolognese which was a good. My friend got the lamb which they liked and we got a bottle of wine which was fantastic. You can smell the delicious aroma of food in the restaurant, they played nice music and the ambiance was dim which we love. The service was great they were very attentive and made sure our glasses were ever empty! Will definitely recommend and come again read more

In the last 5 months I've gone out to eat only twice, both at CdA. My first visit was the original FLL location, for an excellent Duckhorn wine dinner. On the strength of that experience, I paid twice as much for my next outing, which was a $225 white truffle dinner at this Aventura location. This new location has great potential: good location, lots of parking in garage next door, and very attentive staff and management. The food was also outstanding, but unfortunately the white truffles I paid such a large premium for were a disappointment: no aroma, no taste, despite being flown in from NYC and shaved before my eyes. I NE ruined this to the Somm, and he didn't confess anything, but seemed to have some awareness of the issue. The next day I had cause to me speak with the manager Peter (who was also great and attentive during the meal), praised the meal and service, and mentioned my disappointment with the truffles themselves. I asked if he'd tried them himself, and he hadn't. I recommended that he check them out, and let me know if he agreed there was something wrong with them. I never heard anything back. So while I hope to return and bump my rating to "5", for right now my concern with sourcing ingredients makes it a 4, and makes me unlikely to pay this much for tartufo bianco anywhere in Miami again (I'll stick with the perigord black variety from France instead). read more

The food was delicious and deserving of five stars, however the wait to get seated was over 30 min despite having a reservation. Recommend that you book a half hour earlier from when you want to be seated. Everything on the menu was exemplary and our waiter was so nice. The lobster truffle gnocchi was exquisite, but recommend sharing that and another pasta with someone in your party since it is very creamy and filling.
