I have been in the repair business for close to 30-years. I previously worked at Mr Appliance of Durham/Chapel Hill. For close to 4-years. I left that job because of the price hikes and overall customer satisfaction. Corporate America can really take you to the "ringer" when it comes to repair folks. I think everyone knows this. Enter in Pro Appliance. I have been working for this company just shy of two months. In the almost 30-years I have worked, I have worked for numerous companies that just didn't care about anything but "$". Facts! I have never worked for a company with as much integrity as the people that work here. That's just being honest. I will tell you this, stay away from Mr Appliance of Durham/Chapel Hill. You WILL be over charged for your repair. That's not to say "every" Mr Appliance is the same way. Just know, when you're dealing with "corporate" America? They care about "$". Pro Appliance has a good reputation because of the traditional way customer service is down. Period!

My washing machine stopped working mid cycle and was diagnosed by Fred's technician to need a new drain pump. Simple right? The technician said it would take a few days for the pump to arrive then he'd come back and complete the job. He asked me to pay the $250 charge before the repairs were completed. I said no. He asked for $100 cash to hold until he returns. I said no. When he came back three days later, he replaced the drain pump but the washer still wouldn't work. He appeared unqualified for the job and spoke little to no English. Now that it still wasn't working, he said the lid lock and control board needed replacing. $325. That seemed reasonable. He returned a few days later, showed me several boxes, and said he'd be finished quickly. Nearly two hours later, washing machine still inoperable. He looked lost. Tried to explain another part he could replace and when I mentioned something about a power outage I had experienced, he said the electrical might be the issue and maybe I should get a new washer. I had to speak into his phone to translate into his language. That night, I booked an appointment with another company, JB Appliance Solutions. They had a technician out in two days. He wore a company logo shirt and clearly understood how to find the codes on my Maytag washer and then when he tipped it back to get underneath, he asked if I ever saw the previous technician replace the drain pump. I said no. He chuckled at the repair work that had been done and said the wiring had not been properly taped and reconnected and thar shortened out the control board. He said I'd need a new drain pump and control board because he couldn't tell if either had been replaced. Fred's had supposedly already replaced the board. Cost, parts and labor, $700. I asked why I'd been quoted $325 by Fred's and he wasn't sure, but said they only get their parts from one reputable place. He said it appeared the previous technician was trying to fix the washer, but it appeared he was unqualified for the job.
