I couldn't resist the steampunk bats!

This shop is awesome!! Huge selection of gorgeous fabrics, including a large batik section. Anything you could possibly need for quilting can be found here. They also had some fun sewing tags like the ones from Kylie and the Machine. They have a separate room in the back for classes as well. The staff are super friendly and were happy to answer all my questions. I'm new to the area and really enjoyed chatting with Margaret and Katie. I can't wait to come back to take classes soon!

I have always received great customer service when I shop Cary Quilting Company. Staff goes out of their way to help when needed. Lots of beautiful fabric not only for quilting I also use for garment creating. Love to support Local:) Beverly

Stop#2. Cary Quilting Company, Cary NC This is a large shop with lots of samples. I find that to be their strongest point.lots of space and light. The highest quality of fabric from lots of sources. Shout out to Bethany, Gloria and Roberta for their patience and great ideas. Helpful not pushy. The owner does a daily YouTube vid to introduce new fabric.

Quilting. Everything you want to know, see, or try, about quilting is here in one location. I stopped in on the day of the grand opening, not intending to do so. Seeing the word "quilting" as I drove by made it too much of a temptation. The new owners have done a great job of updating the house, yet keeping much of the original feeling. The hardwood floors, white walls and large windows bring in a lot of natural light. That's a good thing as it makes it easier to see the fabric colors when the tones and hues are so close. The front rooms have all the necessary quilting notions: books, thread, templates, the cutting table, and also fabrics in all colors. (When did fabric get to be so expensive? gulp. gasp. cough.) In a couple of places there were fabric swatches on the wall showing the soon-to-be-delivered fabric. Most important of all, there were several enthusiastic and friendly people answering quilting questions from other customers. It was a bit of a madhouse that day, making it difficult to spend much time looking at any one thing. There were quilt projects throughout the store, and an employee available to answer questions about it. In one of the back rooms there's a classroom setup. The Patchwork Memories part, associated with Cary Quilting Company, looks like a great idea: creating quilts or toys from old t-shirts or fabric. Now I know what I can do with all my old concert t-shirts -- well, then again -- maybe not. I look forward to stopping back later, when the grand opening madness has died down some. There's a lot to see and ideas to form from visiting a place like this.

Top completed, now for the quilting! (I am not a super experienced sewist)
