I've always enjoyed walking the fabric aisles to admire the vibrant colors and unique upholstery designs. They usually have great remnants at good prices, but today, I have to say, I was very disappointed--and this will likely be my last visit. While browsing the precut remnants, I noticed an employee staring at me. I moved to another section of the table, but the same employee "coincidentally" hovered near me again. I ignored it and kept looking, determined to find a piece for a special project I had in mind. As soon as I found something I liked, I turned around to see her standing nearby, pivoted toward me, and she commented, "I see you found something." After a long day at work, I was simply looking for a quick, creative outlet to pick up some fabric for my design project. Instead, I felt scrutinized and uncomfortable. As an avid fabric purchaser who regularly shops in fabric stores from Raleigh to High Point and NYC, this was a disheartening experience. Most stores I frequent are welcoming and allow me to browse freely without unnecessary oversight. Mills Outlet, please do better. Your customers come to you for inspiration, not judgment.
