I have had this place on my radar, unfortunately, while the concept rocks, the availability for events of my interest have not quite lured me in beyond a quick peek when wondering how the refurb of the derelict strip center was going. And if Union was gonna live up to the vibe set in their frequent Videri pop-ups. So I'm keeping an eye on Craft Habit, hoping they thrive now there are more things to do as more shops of supreme interest open up. I used to love the maker space concept that Jerry's artarama used to sponsor, near the now defunct SRI. We thought a craft class would be fun. It was 6:30 - 8:30. Some wine and light snacks were available and that was very nice. The class cost $36 plus tax and you got 2 candles. That includes all the supplies etc. There were 10 of us all together. Everything was set up ahead of time. We picked up all the supplies adding a color chip of we wanted a colored candle and a scent if we wanted that. There were many to chose from. Directions were given. We poured hot wax in a large measuring cup and added a color chip and fragrance if we choose one. While we waited for the wax to cool we received some background info on why we use soy, about lead and zinc free wicks etc. pretty interesting! As Jane was giving the background info we were given a raffle "ticket" for asking and answering questions. Did you know: All candles will spot a little if you don't keep it trimmed? Great point: When you light a candle for the first time keep the candle lit for 2-3 hours (depending on size). Apparently, good candles have a "memory" and if you let them burn to the the edges you won't get that small ring around the wick. It will burn to the edge! So, all good, interesting info. Candles take a while to cool so we made tassels, tags and some lids and put holes in it. It was a very nice way to spend some time. read more

I went to the store looking for some fabric to make masks with. The selection was just what I did not find at other stores. High quality, fun prints. The shop owner was so helpful and gave me tips on what I might need. Hand sanitizer and employees wore masks the whole time, all with a great sense of humor and stress free. What a cute store! I took the soy candle making class and it was a delight. The instructor had so much energy and was so excited about soy candles and sharing her knowledge. The store is in a shopping center near downtown - I'm sure it's on the brink of revitalization because there is construction everywhere. The store is bright and inviting. They gave us snackies before class - we gathered our materials and picked our scents and colors then mixed them with hot wax and waited for the wax to get to 145 degrees and then we poured it into our jars and while it cooled I made some other fun stuff at stations - made designs in lids, gift tags and tassels. I decided to make lavender/vanilla candles. What a fun gift for the holidays!! I would definitely sign up for another class here. I loved the hands on help and the friendly smiles and guidance. I loved that I was given a thank you note on my way out! I, frankly, almost forgot about a sad thing that happened today. It seemed like I was entering a world of sweet crafting and calm time. read more

Craft Habit is a brand new, modern craft store that is worth a visit. The bright and inviting store is stocked with sewing supplies, felting, paper-flower crafting and embroidery supplies, plus yarns, beading and jewelry supplies, silversmithing tools and even basic craft tools like glue guns. All of the supplies are really high quality, with a focus on beautiful, locally-made or designed items when possible. There is currently a terrarium bar in the center of the store that features cute animals and crystals as well as colored sand to make a bright, fun terrarium. This feature is scheduled to change out, as are the other make-n-take options they have featured throughout the shop. It's a good place to be when you want to grab a few needed craft supplies and have a bit of time to browse. I can't wait to spend a rainy afternoon sitting at one of the tables, making something. The store has a lot of kits as well as just supplies, making it a great place to grab a gift for someone who is crafty. The kits, especially the embroidery kits, are bright and hip and packaged in really cool packaging. This makes them look much nicer than most craft kits, and the ingredients inside continue the level of quality. The owners are planning on adding classes, more supplies and offering birthday parties as well. I look forward to seeing this store evolve over time, but it's already worth a visit. read more

I love arts and crafts and I have been wanting to learn modern calligraphy. Instead of teaching myself with online tutorials, I decided that taking a class would be a good introductory. Craft Habit offered a class called "Introduction to Modern Calligraphy". It costed ~$55 and that included the supplies that we needed (paper, pen, ink, instruction booklet). The class was taught by a local calligraphy artist, Maria. She was very helpful. The class had about 10 people, a good size. We used dip pens on special paper and Maria went through each step with us, progressing from easy to more difficult. Overall, we enjoyed the class. But because we paid a good amount of money to take the class, it would have been nice to be able to keep the pens that we used. read more

I love this store! Not only do they have unique and modern craft supplies, their staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. They have SO many classes, from basic sewing to watercolors. There's something for everyone, no matter age or craft interest. They also have a great space for small group events and birthday parties. read more
