The gelati is my go-to choice at Rita's because it comes with the perfect combination of custard and Italian ice. Vanilla custard is a staple and sometimes this location has special flavors...my favorite was the pistachio custard. The ices here are actually very good and have awesome consistency where it's icy but not hard and not just slush. Other locations may he more slushy and melted more than others but this location always gets it right. I see two new faces upon arrival that I do not usually see when I come here, and they, the older Indian woman and male were especially frustrating. The woman seems to constantly be telling the regular employees what to do, interrupting them while they're helping customers, and creating more stress than necessary. Employees trying to help customers while she talked over them or took over the interaction. It honestly made the whole atmosphere uncomfortable. There seemed to be a lot of unnecessary commotion behind the counter, and you can tell the employees are stressed out. I actually spoke with another customer about how terrible the situation was, so I know I'm not the only one who has noticed it. I can say that the employees themselves seem like they're trying their best, but the way the store is being managed makes the experience unpleasant. I really hope these two people take a step back and realize that constantly yelling and micromanaging isn't helping the employees or the customers. There was only one size (6" round ) left with the cake inside (turns out this was perfect anyway...). I brought it to the counter and asked if it was possible to have writing on the cake as it was kinda small. The employee asked "What do you want it to say" I replied "Happy Birthday" Employee: "How about Happy B-day?" (light and funny tone) Me: "Sure" Employee: "Who is it for?" Me: "My mom" With that he disappears with the cake as I pay for it. (I also had a $3 coupon for the cake...SCORE!). He said he's been coming to this bakery for quite some time and his brother always buys a bunch of things when he visits. Hubby purchased an assortment of items like eclairs, cookies, rainbow cookies, cannolis and some sort of Napoleon looking pastry. Although some were a bit on the sweeter side (I have a sweet tooth too), everything was very delicious! I was very surprised that the butter cookies were really good because those are usually my least favorite anywhere I go. The rainbow cookies were also very good! There were no tables and chairs for customers so if you were planning on sitting down to enjoy something, sorry! I did see a small round table with two stools next to it but the table contained their cake binder so I'm assuming it's used for cake related orders.
