On my way out of a recent street festival in Syosset, I happened to pass by The Groovy Cookie's…read morebooth, where these gargantuan lumps of dough, buried in almost obscene mounds of chocolate chips, were screaming my name. Most of the time, when I drop a lot of money on a "boutique" cookie, I end up sorely disappointed in its over-sweet or way-too-crunchy character. I had just had a spicy Indian lunch and needed something to counteract the curry, so I thought I'd take a chance on a Groovy Cookie. The supersized Chocolate Chip looked a little overwhelming, so I opted for the package of normal-sized ones. I was a little concerned that these wouldn't be as soft and gooey as the large one, but as soon as I popped one out of the package, I was proved wrong. This thing felt like it was straight out of the oven. "Uh oh," I thought. "There's got be a catch. This must be one of those chemical experiment confections that tastes nothing like a real cookie." But after the first bite, my theory was shot and my cookie snobbiness was instantly humbled. "This..." I remember thinking, "is THE BEST chocolate chip cookie I have ever tasted." To make sure I wasn't overreacting, I found a friend to give one to and she responded the same way. I quickly folded up the package and stuffed it into my pocket, afraid someone else I know might see me and ask for one. I tried to make it all the way home so I could let my wife taste one, but by the time I got there, I had devoured the entire bag. Everybody has different taste in cookies. I don't like the crazy-sweet ones they sell in that big bread restaurant at all. I like semi-sweet and really soft. These tasted like (and had the consistency of) raw cookie dough, so much so that I had to double-check as to whether I was supposed to take them home and bake them! Your taste will be different, but without getting too overdramatic, as a total cookie snob who usually HATES the cookies that others will travel miles and miles for, I've got to say that these are well worth a try. Fortunately (for me, not the company), these aren't readily available at the local convenience store, otherwise I'd be downing a pack a day. The literature from the company doesn't make it very clear, but I THINK you can order these online. Also, the company's lit doesn't really stick with a recognizable theme or logo throughout, so you have to be careful to make sure you're getting the real thing. Have fun, and I hope you enjoy your Groovy Cookie as much as I enjoyed mine.

I was so enticed by the whimsical, atypical flavors and the bright saturated colors. I finally ordered the 5 pack and chose these flavors: 'Cotton Candy', 'Strawberry Crumb', 'Chocolate Banana', 'American Dreamsicle' and 'Italian Rainbow Cookie'. I loved the way each donut was wrapped in plastic and placed so intentionally in its packaging - a sleek gold-colored box with a sticker bearing her logo (a 'C' for Chana that doubles as a donut with purple frosting on it and sprinkles). My boyfriend and I did a "tasting" together trying small ¼ pieces of each flavor. The 'Cotton Candy' (pink frosting with swirls of blue) had a subtle cotton candy flavor but was very sweet, the 'Strawberry Crumb' (bright red) was tart, delicious and one of my favorites. The 'Rainbow Italian Cookie' (covered in tiny green, red & white sprinkles) tasted just like the real cookie; so enjoyable with a pronounced almond flavor. The 'American Deamsicle' (covered in blue, red & white round sprinkles) tasted like orange and was pretty good. My absolute favorite was the 'Chocolate Banana' (a striking yellow with brown swirls), which had a more tolerable sweetness than the others. Overall, I enjoyed the donuts: the taste, the uniqueness and the colors. My only feedback is that I would like the donuts less sweet, so it is easier to eat a whole donut. I would rate Chana's Donuts 3.8 out of 5 stars, and I would definitely order again to try new flavors, or to get the 'Chocolate Banana' or 'Strawberry Crumb' flavors again :)

All their flavors were amazing - even simple and classic flavors like strawberry was special and definitely worth a try. We got the Nutella, strawberry, banana cream pie, and s'mores. To be honest, despite being a Long Islander born and raised, I don't love the "Strong Island"…read moresaying. It doesn't cause me to suddenly have intense feelings of love for where I grew up and the place I live on (not in), but I will say that the saying does make me thing of some pretty tasty dessert. Enter Strong Island Ice Cream and the couple of enjoyable trips my wife and I took here. Located in Nesconset (not too far from my Ronkonkoma abode), Strong Island is nestled into a strip of stores with nothing in the interior that makes it any more desirable than the average ice cream parlor...other than its ice cream. You see their ice cream is all fresh and homemade which you don't get everywhere (despite what you might think). You can tell there's a little bit of love put into most flavors and owner Paul holds this down when you come into order. He's a relatively friendly guy who seems to enjoy what he does. For me, my enjoyment comes from eating the ice cream! My wife and I have taken two trips here a few weeks apart and both times we ordered a couple different flavors in cups to go. When mentioning flavors, it is rather impressive to see the amount of options available. Nothing is overly exotic (you're not gonna find some banana peanut butter cookie dough here), but the choices are still pretty vast. Our first trip, I got two scoops (Nutella and chocolate peanut butter) with hot fudge while my wife did two scoops as well with cookie dough and rainbow cookie being her choices. Out of the four flavors, three were rockin' with Nutella having that hazelnut taste, chocolate PB getting nutty, and rainbow cookie fully delivering the cookie goods. As for cookie dough, it was missing the titled item within its flavor (which my wife hoped there would be plenty of doughy pieces, yet there were not). Second trip, the lady went with Nutella while I switched over to fruity in getting black raspberry which hit the spot in creamy/fruity flavor. Yum. Overall, Strong Island Ice Cream definitely has the power to be a legit dessert spot on the island that it identifies with. Maybe a few flavors aren't perfect, but most will hit the spot and so will your experience here. So whether you're a born and raised Islander or just looking for a scoop of what you scream and I scream and we all scream, Strong Island is worth the after dinner trip.

They have so many seatings and the vibe here is sooo good. I ordered the Nutty White Chocolate Latte with almond milk and it didn't occur to me to wait on the drink but rather went to the seat and take selfies with my good friend. Our cashier literally went out of his way and brought the drink over. Later the Batista also came over with the extra drink since they made extra with the regular milk. Overall, I enjoyed both drinks. I found the one with regular milk tasted so much better than the one with almond milk.

Visit Date: May 3, 2026…read more All I want to do is go to the cafes listed in my LI cafe passport book for Christmas but my friends keep picking different coffee shops that are not in my book which is slightly annoying to me lol I made a plan to meet my friend Shani and she wanted to check this place out. I got a regular coffee with half and half because I also got the crepe and wanted to not have sugar on top of sugar if I drank a sweet drink and had a sweet dessert. I ended up choosing a crepe, they had no dessert with peanut butter in it which would have been my first choice. The crepe was okay. I ate half of it and my boyfriend ate the other half when I saw him after coffee. I found this place to be just okay, I gave it 4 stars because it was good but it didn't wow me and I think they made it too trendy looking and too hyped up. The service was also very good the man who helped me answered my questions patiently. So I liked this place but wasn't really wowed by it.
