Ordered off DoorDash and I regret not taking photos. HUGE portion sizes, the shrimp is delicious. We also split walleye, fried okra, corn fritters, hush puppies, and river fries. The river fries are giant potato slices, I loved them. Hush puppies and fried okra were exactly what you'd expect, and the corn fritters were sweet and delicious. We had the walleye plate that comes with plenty of pickles and sliced onions and two prières of bread. SO much food! Taking home a whole plate. Just another fish hut in my opinion. I overheard someone asking for some extra tartar sauce which was the packet and they wanted to charge extra. This place seems like overkill and cutting corners. Fish was okay but I will have to try another place or just cook my own from now on. This business made me feel as if they were doing the people a favor instead of going above and beyond one'a expectations. I wish you the best! I cannot recommend the walleye fish highly enough. It is Springfield's best fish. It might be a long line and you wait outside the little fish shack but when you get it on your plate and take a bite, you'll be happy you did it. I love this place. I can't come to Springfield without coming to carters. The have the best fried walleye in the world! I can say that because I have been all over and no place compares to carters. They give generous portions and a order of walleye, pickles, onions, and bread is under 8 bucks! The walleye is always cooked to perfection. Flaky and light tasting. The thing that I really love is even though it's fried, it's not greasy. My favorite way to eat it is to tear a piece of bread, put a piece of fish on the bread, add hot sauce, pickle and onion then enjoy! Their river fries are really good as well. Their cx service is great, they are friendly and polite. If you ever make a trip to Springfield check this place out you will thank me for it later. Ps. I literally have been going to Carter's as long as I can remember. As with everything, they've increased prices over the years which has never been an issue because I always got my monies worth... Until Friday that is. I ordered walleye (which wasn't the freshest) and buffalo (for me, my favorite) and when I got back to work and opened my box only to see 2 lousy pieces of buffalo, I WAS PISSED! I called Carters over 20 times that afternoon as well as Saturday and only got busy signals or no answer. I messaged them on FB as well & still haven't heard anything! This was just ok for me. I ordered the walleye and corn fritters. They give you a ton of food. The walleye was so thin that the batter was really crispy and all you could taste. I broke most of the fish in half, just to get some of the meat of the fish. The corn fritters were not what I expected. They were very small pieces. I was thinking that they would be hush puppyish. I should have gotten the hush puppies I guess. I will probably try this place again, for the shrimp or catfish and try the puppies. read more
