It's…read morebeen a couple of years since I worked with NDDA to assist me with our first born daughter born in 2021. Melissa at NDDA was incredible from start to finish. When I originally called to ask some general questions about what exactly a doula does, she was kind, patient, and so freaking educated about the process of childbirth. We were offered a tour of Baylor hospital (virtual due to COVID), newborn classes, and tons of educational resources after booking with NDDA. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. As a Black woman, childbirth can be an extremely scary experience, just look up the statistics of mistreatment in the healthcare space for minorities. Melissa and team advocated for my husband and I. We felt taken care of every step of the way. Thank you NDDA!

My primary reason too for picking this place was the fact they offer a beautiful placenta art print. I wanted to honor my placenta because it's such an incredible and powerful organ, and I'm obsessed with the art prints. They're both framed and are hanging up in my daughters' room. I've worked with Meredith L. and Madison Prez for the placenta encapsulation. They were both very easy to contact and responded promptly over text. I worked with Madison most recently, and she picked up the placenta and quickly processed it and delivered it to my home. I got placenta pills, a tincture, the keepsake cord, and the art print. I love the packaging and branding too- very alice in wonderland. I highly recommend this service and would work with Madison again. The art print she made was stunning!

It is tough to review this location of a Non-profit Organization that is under constant rumors of…read moreshutting down or moving THIS location. The property costs will force something to happen at some point, I'm guessing. With that out front, this location manages to do the important task of training people and providing relief services. The facility is old, showing signs of wear and not enough volunteer and paid resources to make it look new and shiney. It still performs and hosts quite a few activities. I've had my CPR and First Aid courses here. In a pinch, this location could still provide support for something large.

On Tuesday, June 30th I drove out to the blood drive in Frisco. I try to donate blood as often as I…read morecan because I realize the importance of this life saving process. I arrived for my appointment time, checked in via rapid pass and then with the check in table. After being called to have my iron tested etc. I sat for several minutes watching people that came in after me being called to a bed to start their donations until a worker realized I was still waiting. Once I was on the table and donation started the alarm went off for several minutes and I finally got a workers attention and he came over and said he'd be right back.. then after several more minutes ..watching him check some machine and wipe down a table he walked over and said he'd have to adjust my needle.. 3 workers later, they had my donation going again.. alarm goes off for several minutes again before they come over (not sure if they can hear alarms over the loud music) original guy comes over and takes needle out etc and I immediately start feeling my fingers and toes throbbing and just feeling weird in general (which isn't normal for me) so they put a wet paper towel on my head, lay the bed back and then just left me there for a long time.. I sat up when I started feeling better.. still no one came over.. so I left. Once home, I sent an internal email via the Red Cross website about my concerns. Today is Saturday, July 4th and I haven't heard anything back from the Red Cross- nothing. Although I'm sure once it's time for me to donate again, I'll be getting texts, calls, mail, and emails requesting me to make a donation. Typically when I donate, I don't have even a small bruise. The bruising on my arm this time is AWFUL. It will probably be awhile before I decide to donate my O+ blood again because this was so traumatizing, but if I do, I will probably contact Carter BloodCare because it's obvious to me Red Cross just wants my blood and doesn't care about me. Picture is what my arm looks like 4 days later.

Parkland Hospital Cafeteria is hands down one of the best cafeterias I have ever been to, and that…read moresays a lot. This is not your typical hospital food situation at all. It genuinely feels like a well-run food hall with intention, quality, and pride behind everything they serve. Breakfast and lunch are a standout, especially the smoothie station. The smoothies are excellent, and what really sets it apart is the build-your-own smoothie bowl option. You can customize everything exactly how you want it, from the base to the toppings, and it is always fresh, flavorful, and filling. It is one of those things you actually look forward to instead of just grabbing out of convenience. Thursdays deserve their own shoutout because the chicken tenders are honestly the best I have ever had. Crispy, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and consistently good every single time. People genuinely plan their week around Thursday for a reason. What I really love about this cafeteria is how thoughtful and inclusive the menu programming is. They celebrate Black History Month with special menus, feature diverse cuisines regularly, and recognize events like Lunar New Year and other cultural celebrations. It makes the space feel welcoming, intentional, and reflective of the community it serves. You can tell a lot of care goes into menu planning, not just food production. The salad bar is another huge highlight. It is impeccable. This is a build-your-own salad concept, but unlike a traditional salad bar, it is not one where every customer is touching everything. The setup is clean, organized, and well-managed, and the ingredients are always fresh. You get exactly what you want without the usual concerns that come with a standard self-serve bar. The deli is fantastic as well. You can fully customize your sandwich, and the quality of the ingredients and consistency of the service really stand out. It does not feel rushed or thrown together. Everything is done with care. Overall, Parkland Hospital Cafeteria is exceptional. From the food quality to the variety, cleanliness, cultural celebration, and customization options, it sets a very high bar for what a cafeteria can be. Whether you are there every day or just visiting, it is a place you will actually be excited to eat at. Truly a standout and something Parkland should be proud of.

My options were to go here or the hospital ER and I decided not to wait hours on end in a traditional ER. I was pleasantly surprised to be in and out within an hour. The team was even super kind to my kiddos. We had a strep, Covid, and a flu test run. Thankfully it was "just the flu." However I'm glad I came as they prescribed tamiflu and she's on the mend. My only curiosity is to see what they charge insurance for this less than an hour visit and 3 tests. Seeing others right $3k billed for a strep test has me concerned. I know it's premium service in the middle of the night but thousands for a flu test seems excessive. Will post back once I see the EOB!
