*apologize for the long review, but it's worth the read if you want to save yourself a headache*
I really wish I could give them negative stars. This place (John in particular) is absolutely horrendous. They should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers and run their business.
Let me give you a little background on my experience with Danrich. My father worked with the two owners, Dan & Rich, when they were younger. As a result, when I needed some collision repair last July (2016) after my uncle backed into my parked car, I trusted my father's recommendation. I live in the city and drove out to Homer Glen to have the repairs done by a shop that was trustworthy (or so I thought). I worked with John for those repairs. He mentioned that a belt in my engine needed to be replaced (unrelated to the damage). It seemed legitimate, so I gave the OK to fix that too. Everything seemed fine. In November 2016, I was in a minor fender-bender. Took the car out to Danrich again since I had had a relatively positive experience in July. Again, I worked with John. Same deal - in addition to the damage, there were a few minor things that needed to be fixed. I gave the OK to fix those, got my car back, and carried on.
Fast forward to March / April of 2017. I started hearing a rattling noise when I would hit bumps. Brought the car in for them to take a look at. John called me after their initial inspection. Instead of explaining what they had found, the first thing he asked me was "are you planning on keeping this car?" I was a little surprised and said yes, since I live in the city and the car is only 7 years old. He then proceeded to tell me all of the things that were wrong with the car, most of which had nothing to do with the rattling noise that brought the car there in the first place. He also indicated that most of these things should really be fixed immediately. I let him finish and then asked the total cost. Before he would even give me the total, he went into his whole speech about financing etc. When I finally pried enough, he told me the total for everything was ~$2,500. WOWZA. I let it all sink in for a second before something dawned on me - why were none of these repairs mentioned to me in November? Why now all of a sudden do my brakes need to be replaced ASAP but they were fine in November, ESPECIALLY considering I had only drive 1000 miles since November (85% of which were highway miles...)? Things didn't add up, so I pushed back on him and began asking questions. He started backtracking and said he needed to talk to his mechanic. We hang up, he talks to the mechanic and calls me back. He explains that they probably should have warned me about them in November because they weren't great then etc etc. Hmmmm still fishy.
At that point I was about to say, ok just fix the broken struts (which were causing the rattling noise) when John said "You know, if you'd like, I can talk to your husband or your father about this and explain it to them. Just have them give me a call." Listen, John - my husband and father were never involved with this discussion, so for you to insult my intelligence by suggesting I need a man's assistance comprehending the very simple concept you were explaining to me is beyond appalling. Needless to say, I said "you know what? forget it. don't do anything to the car. I'm going to come get it." John was surprised, but agreed.
I decided to give the owners a call to explain what had happened. After speaking with one of them, he was very apologetic and said it was unacceptable. He said I would deal directly with him. I felt good about the conversation and was going to give them one more shot. .......Until 10 mins later when I received a call back from John. He began the conversation by apologizing and explaining how surprised he was that it was him in particular that I had a problem with. He then continued on to explain how he "knows how to work with women by treating them with kid gloves" and how "most women have to talk things over with their husbands before making a decision." At that point I was tired of being continuously insulted and I calmly explained he should never make that assumption or say those things to a customer. I also told him to never call me again. It really felt like I was being harassed.
Moral of the story: I REFUSE to give my business to an establishment that is as untrustworthy and personally insulting as Danrich is. Between the pushing unnecessary repairs and the relentless personal attacks, I will NEVER be back here again. You should be ashamed of yourselves. read more
