ATTENTION: I strongly recommend AVOIDING Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center in Lockport, Illinois…read more I am extremely disappointed with the way my recent experience was handled and feel it is important to share what happened so other customers can make an informed decision before trusting Tuffy with their vehicle. On September 1, 2026, I dropped off my Ford F-150 at Tuffy in Lockport because I was experiencing a loud squealing noise that appeared to be coming from the turbo area. Tuffy kept my truck for six business days while attempting to diagnose the issue. After nearly a week, I was finally contacted and told to pick up my vehicle because they were unable to determine or resolve the problem. When I arrived to pick up my truck, I immediately noticed new damage to the driver's side door. I brought the damage to the attention of the service technician/front desk and took photographs of it. The Service Manager, Caitlin, was not at the location at the time, and I was told she would contact me the following morning to discuss the situation. The next business day, I spoke with Caitlin. She told me she would review the security camera footage and the photographs taken of my truck when it was dropped off and would get back to me. After several days passed without a resolution, I followed up with Caitlin. I was then told that the District Manager, Brandon, had become involved and would be contacting me. I later learned that Brandon was on vacation and out of town, resulting in several more days passing before I was finally able to speak with him. When I eventually spoke with Brandon, I was told that he was supposedly the only person with access to the security camera footage. Conveniently, by that point, the footage had allegedly been deleted because too much time had passed. Even more concerning, the photographs Tuffy took of my truck when I dropped it off also do not include the driver's side of the vehicle--the exact area where the damage occurred. I also took the vehicle to an independent collision center to have the damage inspected and received an estimate of approximately $2,200 to repair it. The collision center advised me that the damage was consistent with the driver's side door being damaged while the vehicle was being handled on a lift. Today, September 23, 2026, I met with Brandon in person at the Lockport location at his request so he could inspect the damage himself. Unfortunately, the meeting essentially ended with me being told that because there was no longer any camera footage, there were no photographs showing the driver's side of the vehicle, and the employees did not recall what happened, Tuffy would not accept responsibility for the damage. For me, this isn't about the $2,200. It's about principle, accountability, and respecting customers' property. I completely understand that mistakes happen. Vehicles are being worked on every day, and accidents can occur. What is incredibly frustrating is that instead of taking responsibility and working with me to resolve the situation, I was essentially told that because I couldn't provide definitive proof, Tuffy was not responsible. As a customer, I trusted Tuffy with my vehicle. I expected them to take reasonable care of it and, if something happened while it was in their possession, to handle the situation honestly and professionally. Instead, I was left feeling like my concerns were dismissed and that the lack of documentation conveniently worked in their favor. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone in the Lockport area think twice before doing business with Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center. I personally will not be returning, and I would encourage others to consider taking their vehicle somewhere that they feel will stand behind their work and take responsibility when something goes wrong. Customer trust and accountability should mean something.
