I had a poor experience with them to get cable internet. Originally I needed a technician to come set up the outside connection to the house. I received a callback that the install was scheduled but no one came. In the end, their side did not tell me it was not happening and I was not able to get a connection for 5 days. My job requires consistent internet. Calling multiple times resulted in no proper resolution and I have since canceled. I would say my overall customer support experience fell flat and I never sensed that they tried to correct their error until it was too late. I have Carrytel 75M/10M cable internet in 2021. Their service is based on Rogers infrastructure. The signal strength isn't in GOOD range but nice clean, so far the speed and reliability OK. They have promo now (GU174263 for fiber, GU174264 for cable plan). read more

The worst company. Stay away unless you want to just have your money taken for nothing. I tried them last week and it was a nightmare. I didn't have service and called every day, but it took days before they finally sent a technician on Saturday. The service webt down again Sunday night, and when I called the msg said closed for Thanksgiving at 10:49 pm, and again at 6:30 am. Due to the issue that was outside of my unit the agent ssid it wasn't their issue, but it certainly wasn't mine as a paying customer. I told her I wanted to cancel and this was my 1st week. Wanted my money back for the modem & phone adaptor, but sales said I was over my 7 days... Because of THANKSGIVING DAY! I asked for a mngr and was transferred to technical support. A mngr there told me I would be refunded for my equipment if I returned it, which I did that sameday - Tuesday. I've already paid over $100 to this company and used service 4 days, and none consistantly without interruptiin. Then I get this crazy invoice with no real explanation due less than 10 days after connection for more that $100. Then another modified stating I still owe over $25 - this for 4 days of service and returned equipment and already paid over $100. Then an email stating my CC will be refunded some random amount far below what's owed and no explanation how it was determined. I'm clearly going to have to take my complaint farther to the CRTC, Social Media etc. to have it properly dealt with, because the agents can't/won't and just dump calls. Don't go with them for internet. The quality is so so bad. Multiple times in the past few months it wouldn't work at all. The rest of the time it was so slow that it was barely useable anyway. WARNING! Stay away. Very unreliable, throttled, intermittent service! Like others have mentioned, they piggy back (like most low cost providers) off of Rogers. Scheduling a tech visit, ha, the tech will show up when you're not there, about to head out, or past the time they tell Carrytel. Carrytel will blame the Rogers tech, the Rogers tech will blame Carrytel, and it doesn't stop at the service. Tech support, is talk support without the support part. They will put you on hold and I imagine laugh with their colleagues, over what they claim to be doing to troubleshoot your issue. You'll call. Internet not working. Step one, power cycle through the internet. Pin for 10 secs back of modem reset. It will not work, rest assured. Then, hold while we check something, that also will not work. Then reset your modem to factory settings, which may work. Then an hour later, bam you are back on the phone with them. This could happen for days. NO they will not offer you anything, a discount, a better modem, nothing. Old modem tech that's refurbed from Rogers (customer returns from Rogers more than likely.) If you are thinking of signing up, DON'T. If you're going to cancel, remember you have to pay to ship the modem back to them... Worst customer service I have ever seen. No one knows any actual trouble shooting. After 3 months of the worst intermittent internet (travel for work so hardly home - i can only imagine what it would have been like if I were) I am clicking my heels to end this horrendous service. @CarryTelecom so i've recently left carrytel with a great disappointment.. my story goes like this . - I lived in Toronto lovedd them ask few of my friends to join ( and 3 did) 1 left because of service and other are looking out for another provider) -2017 very good service brought a modam from them (paid money) - when moved to Courtice they told me the modam is useless and increase in price, because i liked them there I went for them but started to have prob with the internet like disconnect all the time, tv lagging etc -called them up several time they said its because its in the basement to shift it they will have a service charge (added my own router they told me to take it out) - shifted it myself to the upper level same prob - then they said might be yr modam will send a new one ( same prob) then they ask me if I had a router to use that so I added it back on - internet goes out for the whole day first time (they offer to pay 5$ thats nice i think but the next thing i see they send an email they are increasing a rate of 5$ a month... WHAT!#@, so they pay me 5$ one time and increase 5$ monthly ???.... when called them they rep says its JUST 5$ ... - then they said may be its the line will send a tech (they said no prob with the line) -then they offered me dsl and i asked them to wave the charge which they did but i will have to pay extra for the dsl with a decreased speed) - internet goes out for the second time in this year -Then we rec an email for new customer the services i am paying for, they are offering half the prices for the same. So they want more customer but the customer already there they dont care about when i called them up they said u are already a customer cannot offer that to you and the sales agent gave me a funny excuse which i did not buy this was like teasing WHY SEND THE MAIL so I can get more friends and embarrass myself) - my prob was never SOLVED . -at last I found a service provider and ran it side by side same speed OMG! Very suspect billing practises. Overbilled , promised refund in 30 days, 2 1/2 months later still waiting. Refused to refund deposit on modem ($50) saying I had waited over 30 days to return modem. Unable to leave house due to covert19 lockdown but no allowance made. Still waiting for my overbilling refund. They owe me about $90 not counting the modem deposit. They are fine so long as there are no issues with their service, but since they don't actually have their own technicians, they can't really help if you have any issues. If you ask to speak to a manager, they say someone will call you back, but they never do. I have been without internet for a week and a half now and all they have done is give me false promises. Absolute scumbag of a company i have dealt with. first of all they provide you with a crappy modem that does not have a long range and if you want more range you are going to have to buy your own router. if you want to cancel your service it $69 + TAX and if you want to move they charge $49 to send a technician, their explanation for that is Rogers Canada charges them that amount to send a technician. This is absolutely retarded. This company use Rogers to provide internet service and I have called rogers and they don't charge anything to change the service to a new address. I have also called bell Canada and they don't charge anything either. The other BS fees are not apparent. if you are going to have a lot of users connected to crappy modem they have provided your speed is going to be really slow. The tech support agent are incompetent as well (they probably outsourced this department somewhere over seas) I will never use this service again and don't recommend this company at all. Their cheap prices draw in a lot of people. Their Internet speeds during the day are fine using Cogeco cable lines but in the evening from 8 PM to 11 PM their speeds grind to a crawl. This Started happening at the beginning of December 2017. This is not an isolated incident. It is happening to everybody that uses Cogeco lines. Message boards everywhere are complaining of this. CarryTel keep saying they're going to get it fixed blaming it on Cogeco. People on these message boards are saying that if it doesn't get straightened out by the end of December they are going cancel their service. This would be devastating to this company. Worst ISP ever and worse decisions ever to switch with them. Had been with them for few months now and there's service are nightmares, at certain times of hour their cable internet service more likely went downhill for hours and it happened during at night when their technical or support aren't open( their technical support only open during the day up to 9 pm), when asked to have technicians to come check on line, they'll refused and suggested to troubleshoot the modem first and called a day since there's nothing with the modem but yet they knew that their line is dedicated to Rogers so they'll try to voided to get them involved. Internet was working fine for a few month but then connection started to drop every time modem was unplugged and plugged back into electrical socket, sometimes resetting modem helps to get connection, sometimes does not. Calling support does not help, they ask you what lights are on on the modem and try to fix wifi, in my case all the lights are on and I am plugged into modem with Ethernet cable but still no Internet connection. I've been a pretty patient client as I did not ask for price matches using other offers even after paying the full prices, while constant disappointments piled up: refusal to honor discount for the 5 remaining months after I moved, two major outages while services of other cable ISPs remain intact, price hike AFTER an outage in the middle of a pandemic, etc. Even after all that, I stayed on and should not be a difficult client to keep. Yet all of their support agents have this tendency of using the system as an excuse for their laziness not to offer any meaningful compensation to their clients, regardless of how much frustration they are - the lady named Joyce didn't even bother making any retention efforts when I asked to cancel! LOL! So sounds like their only interests is in getting new clients rather than keeping any existing clients, and I guess it's just a matter of time for them to learn it the hard way. read more

Overall service not terrible for the price. However, the company's treatment is terrible. Constant cutting of service for no reason. We got cut once, they said they were upgrading some stuff. Sure enough it was upgraded, but a week later, another cutoff and boom, back to worse than the original. Do not use, choose a big name even if it costs more. read more
