The worst customer service that I've ever experienced. Canceled my service for better and more reliable service on Nov 12, 2025 and expected a refund 6 to 8 weeks. Now it end of Feb 2026 and still no refund. Called at least 8 times and have been lied to every single time I've called and even lied to getting callbacks for an update on status. Throttling, unreliable. Would shut down and throttle randomly... My WiFi provider shut down service in the area so I signed up to vmedia internet 25. It was the same speed/ wifi as my old provider. With my old wifi I could stream on zoom 24/7 to study. Never really had any issues. As soon as I got vmedia I noticed my wifi was so unreliable because it would fully shut off three times a day for 10-15 minutes. My zoom video was constantly glitching. If I ran two YouTube videos together like a study music and another it would slow to nearly stopping. It was bad. I'm sure they were throttling so I would upgrade because sometimes it worked fine. I wasn't allowed to "host" on zoom because my connection would fail randomly. I'm not too picky with wifi as long as it's consistent. But it was so unreliable after 3 weeks I had to change providers. Signed up with oxio (never heard of them in my life) for cheaper and have not had an issue since. Currently waiting on hold on VMedia to tell them I already threw out their router and cancel payment. I'm convinced I just experienced the ninth ring of Dante's Inferno. I spent FOUR AND A HALF HOURS on the phone with customer service on behalf of my father, trying to resolve ongoing issues with his phone and internet. In a truly remarkable display of terrible customer service that could test even the most ironclad will and mental strength, they had me troubleshoot the exact same thing no less than six times, with intermittent "1-3 minute" holds (translation: 15 minutes), only to circle back to the same series of questions...over...and over...and over again. The rep kept claiming, "Now we must try this ONE last step." I lost hope after the third time she said that. Finally, at the end, she informed me that the next step in the protocol (wait, there was a protocol?) was to raise an internal inquiry so the team could try to resolve the issue remotely. Was that not what we were just doing for the past 4.5 hours? She couldn't tell me what our next options were if that didn't work, what to expect next, or what happens if we miss the callback. So I sit here 4.5 hrs later no further ahead than when this nightmare began. I'm convinced this is a prime example of purposefully obtuse sludge, one that should really be illegal because 4.5 hrs is about 56% percent of a working man's 8 hr shift. We were unfortunately with Vmedia for 4 years before switching to Telus. Anytime you need any help, expect to wait 1-2 hours minimum. In order for the internet to work properly, we ended up having to upgrade the modem ourselves. Afterward using our own device, only then the internet worked "ok". If anyone still decides to go with them, make sure you never rent their router device and buy it- it's a scam and they charge you $25 just to return it, and almost double that if its not in the original box (they never, ever told us to do this, whether it was when we signed up or when we were returning the item, like they wanted a reason to charge us extra- so sleezy). Was with Vmedia for just under a year. The customer service is very poor; response times can be up to an hour even during non peak hours (I used to always try to call them right when they opened to be early but my wait time was always around 30-40 minutes). Upon terminating my service, I received an email with subject saying my payment was successful when in reality, the email body said that my payment wasn't successful. This felt very wrong, as if they were purposely trying to delay my payment so they could charge late fees. The termination of my service also cost an extra 80 dollars because if the restocking fee as well as not returning the modem and router in the packaging they came in (which costed 20+ dollars each and the customer service agent didn't tell me I needed to do). Stay away from VMedia. I was with them in Cambridge, Ontario and Barrie, Ontario. The pricing seems good, but the customer support is next to useless. I moved to Barrie and had a technician scheduled in for the first day I was there, he showed up on time. But he didn't bring any tools with him, he was using my personal screwdrivers to remove the wall plates, and he looked around for 15 minutes and said he can't find the coaxial plug coming into the house... Bell was able to find it and get me connected within 10 minutes. Upon canceling, after years of service, they charged me a 'restocking fee' for the modem I was renting, dirty move, but okay. I was with Vmedia for about 3 years due to finances. They were the most cost effective internet I could find at the time. I am the only person that lives here and I couldn't even stream a movie.woyhoit it buffering 3/4 of the time I worked from home and I couldn't participate in the majority of video meetings because the calls constantly dropped because of connection. The final nail in the coffin was when I finally gave up after not getting any support was when I canceled my service which happened to be during a postal strike and I sent my gear back. I was charged a late fee on my credit card because apparently it's my fault that Canada Post was on strike and they didn't get their software back on time. I do not recommend V media. I wish you didn't have to give a star. I would NEVER suggest this company to anyone. For a month I was in constant communication with vmedia as I was moving and needed internet right. I had arranged for a technician to come in and install internet/cable/phone. When here the tech drilled a new hole in my wall to install a cable line. He left and told me all I had to do was hook up the router to the cable Jack and it would work. Well of course no cable wire was sent, so I had to get one. Once I tried that there was no service. I chatted with support and was told it could take a day to do provisions and that the next day it would work. While the next day the services were still not working and I was told to try numerous times unplugging and plugging in cables and wires. Day two passes and still no answers and now we are waiting on a call. Day three we get a phone call that the IP address is malfunctioning on their end and to wait another day. I schedule a technician to come out the next available time which would be day five. Day four goes by and still no internet. The fifth day arrives and I call to confirm a tech would be coming, only to find out that my address is not serviceable. How did they send a router and a tech out to an address that they do not service. Mind you they took my money and only have me a portion of it back. Not to mention the new hole in my wall for absolutely no reason. Do yourself a favor and never get involved with this company. The TV service sucks, is a polite term. One has to add a 100.00 TP wirelink to get a Firestick to work. For instance 2 hours to watch a 40 min show because of buffering issues. Nightmare service. Atrociously disrespectful, gaslighting employees. Cancelled the day of equipment arrival. I ordered and was sold a technician appointment specifically due to the tech at my location. This was followed with an email stating I confirmed remote installation. After I booked off work. I didn't confirm remote installation. Spent hours on phone/email warning them it would be an issue in advance. It was an issue. No service available day of router arrival/remote activation. They also leave out coaxial cable. Coaxial cable which is step one for their installation manual. Ask me to buy it ($20 locally or $10 + ship) for a maximum $10 reimbursement. On phone I am gaslit with the paradox that it is my fault for not asking them to send out the coaxial cable when I ordered - but also that they do not have coaxial cables to send me if they wanted to. No cable that's step 1 in your primary product and you don't tell people in advance? Yeah right. No refund for wasted time, headache, buying wifi router I didn't need for service I didn't get due to the worlds worst group of 3rd party tech support. While being offered 2 free months I had to cancel. No discount would be worth paying for if I have to deal with this torture at any point for any length of time in the future. Was told no fees for cancellation, almost letting the guy off the phone before I'm faced with email asking for 25$ restocking fee. They refuse to send a new return label after the first one expired and consistently try to charge the modem to my credit card even though I'm actively trying to send them back their equipment. They started charging 10$ more on the monthly bill with no explanation. They charged for 400 mbps but I could hardly get more than 29 mbps directly wired into the wall with a 3 foot cable and I'm an IT tech so I know how to set up a good connection. The technician came Monday Jan 27 to install the cable internet line, had no idea what he was doing. Said it'll be good after 30 min, and left. It didn't work all day. I called Tuesday Jan 28th and tech support said there is NO internet, and the technician messed up. They then said they'll send out a technician THURSDAY JAN 30th!! So no internet/TV for 4 days. They refused to let me talk to a manager. I should mention, my wife works from home Monday and I work from home Tuesday and Wednesday - so we are totally down s*** creek with no paddle and missing out on over 3 days pay for this 'inconvenience' DO NOT SIGN UP WITH Vmedia. My review is based on accepting that VMedia is a much cheaper internet service than Rogers or Bell so DO NOT expect gold plated customer service or fastest speeds or "Ritz Carlton valet service" installation! Now, after accepting the above, here are some "pointers" to help everyone out: They have addressed some other reviewers' POOR RATINGS (see other reviews below) by now offering (as of OCT 2019 in Toronto) FREE INSTALLATION (probably because it is often done remotely, no technician enters your home or apt) and FREE CABLE MODEM (yes, for free it is a lower end model, of course). and you get $20 off internet for first 3 months (yes our customer service is not the best so here's a discount!) MAKE SURE you get ALL THESE DEALS! It is NOT A PROBLEM if the modem is delivered AFTER the "install date" as install is usually done remotely and it is very easy to do yourself. Just connect to cable and plug in. I did not know: you need a ROUTER as well; in past I had an "all in one" DSL modem & router in one box so be advised... Very cheap used routers are available on Kijiji or Letgo or other such sites. I also have VMedia FREE TV (some channels/packages free for 1, 2 or 3 months) using Roku Express device (which I also bought used on Kijiji), which is fine so far although remote/menu capabilities is certainly not what you get from Rogers, but is CHEAP on go-forward basis and FREE for now. As for VMedia internet speeds, it seems a little slow sometimes and I lost connectivity once/twice day for short time (less than 1 minute) recently. It comes back on automatically or just reset modem (use pin, paperclip or nail to push into the reset spot on back), takes 2-3 minutes. NOT the end of the world in my mind. I have dealt with customer service 3 times so far and it has been pretty quick to get to an agent and time to resolve/clarify any issues has been perfectly acceptable to me (again, especially taking into account what I said at the beginning!)
