Had to take most of the hash off of my plate. Potato overload!
    Giovanna F.

3 stars for food. 4 stars for the service! I was a first time customer and WOW. I wish I had looked at Yelp before coming. I had no idea that the breakfast servings are HUGE. The prices were $13-30+ My friend ordered the "regular size" Chicken Fried Steak and it was massive. It could've fed 3-4ppl. But apparently there's an even BIGGER portion. We saw it because the table next to us ordered it and all our mouths fell open. That one could feed 7ppl. When it comes to the potatoes, Home Fries wins. Crispy and pillowy inside. The hashbrowns are crispy on the top and bottom but soft in the middle. I could only eat the crisp part. It was a lot of potato! Each dish here can feed 2ppl. No wonder the pricing is on the high end for breakfast! You'll be paying for those potatoes! Taste wise, I'd come back for the gravy and the sausage. It was legit. Peppery just how I like it. I could've just skipped the potatoes and smother my omelet in that gravy. The breakfast sausage link was cooked perfectly. It had a nice snap and juicy filling. Bottom line- I'm glad Lakewood is representing the breakfast diner dive scene. You may even impress out of towners with its quirky decor and gigantic servings of egg and potatoes.

The waiter was nice and attentive with her service. Very helpful answering any questions about the menu. The food came out pretty slow for the place to not be very packed. I had the patty melt and a blueberry pancake. The patty melt was cooked well, bread toasted to perfection. The burger did not come with a sauce. Personally I like a thousand island sauce in my patty melts also the burger patty had no seasoning at all. The fries were delicious. The pancake was the star of the show in its enormous size nice and fluffy and airy. The pancake was awesome. My coworkers got the Ruben which he said was okay. Nothing special as well as the omelette which was pretty good but the house fries were over cooked and had no seasoning at all. No salt no pepper no nothing. Overall this isn't a bad place to stop by but I felt their prices are kind of steep but the portions justify the pricing. I would come back and try other things in the menu but it would solely be out of the convent location.

Omg these are the biggest plates I have ever seen! I didn't realize how much food we were gonna get!!! Our server was really nice and hospitable and the interior of the spot looks real dive like with car memorabilia throughout the spot. However back to the food I was so amazed at how big my salad was and how good it tasted! My mom and dad loved their dishes and their mozzarella sticks are so good and fresh! If you want a lot of food for your buck, go here!

    - Great Service & Huge Portions Came to Carrs for a breakfast outing with friends and had a nice overall experience. The service was absolutely amazing -- super friendly, fast, and made us feel right at home. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and has a welcoming vibe. I ordered the crab Benedicts. They were just okay -- the sauce tasted a bit canned and was too runny, and the avocado underneath was a little overripe (you could tell they tried to hide it with the sauce). Not terrible, but definitely not the highlight. That said, the portion sizes are HUGE -- definitely come hungry. All my friends loved their meals, especially the chicken and waffles and the omelets. I'm giving 4 stars mostly for the fantastic service and generous portions. I'd come back to try something else!

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place. We've only been here for breakfast but their lunch and dinner look fantastic as well. It's not a place we'd go for a romantic meal, but if you're looking for some good grub with extremely huge portions this is the place! I'd dare to say the best hangover breakfast in Lakewood. They make good strong drinks just how we like them too.

The waitlist is always long here but for a good reason... Huge portions and delicious food. The pancakes are always a classic here! Been going here for 9 years now!

First time eating here. Early morning, on a Wednesday, at 830 am. Perfect time. Ordered, coffee, quickly served, and breakfast came out, fast, huge and have to say, the best breakfast , in a long time. Ate as much as I could, took home a box, and have two more times to eat. Excellent. Service was perfect and the atmosphere is in the sweet zone. Definitely going back.

I am reviewing for the catering portion of Carrs. I came along for my friends wedding tasting session and the most of the food were very tasty. We all loved the poached pear crostini. I would say that was one of the best things I've tried. We also tried the curry chicken, tomato burrata, and a strawberry one. I didn't like the strawberry one very much but perhaps someone else will. Curry chicken was good and the tomato was also good. The tomato plating was visually appealing as well and also had the softest bread. We tried a corn on a stick and we didn't like that one just cause it was kinda messy for a wedding. For the entree the couple for wedding really liked the chicken parmesean. Chicken was really soft and the sauce was good but I thought it could be been crispier but we also did get to the restaurant a bit late so that's probably why. You can ask for it to be crispier. We also tried the beef medallions with garlic and butter as well as with chimmichurri. The garlic was too salty and the chimichurri was too acidic. If they were balanced better it would be amazing because the beef itself was perfect. We also tried a black berry skewer with basil and cheese and that was very yummy. The blackberry was SUPER sweet. For dessert we tried a s'more mini cupcake and that was probably the best cupcake I've ever had. Perfect sweetness and the buttercream was immaculate. We asked for the cupcake to be a little bigger and they said they can do that but just needed guidance on how to decorate it. The second desert was a honey Graham cracker ceral like thing bar with milk and it was really yummy. I think if the bars were more bite sized it'd be much better because I got overwhelmed with the sugar after eating half way through it. Overall I think the food from Carrs is quite solid. We are going to have a second tasting because the bridal couple wanted to try their other entrees before making a decision. Carrs does offer over 200 items so I believe this spot would make a great option for whoever needs a caterer for their wedding.

    Senior menu, 1 biscuit w/sausage gravy $8.50, added 1egg + $2.25. Very tasty.

Was expecting this to be the old diner/lounge I went to many many years ago but realized pulling up it was a different location and upon entering definitely an entirely different restaurant. Instantly I wasn't keen on the appearance of dining area, don't care for open seating feeling so exposed to everyone else eating. But we found a seat at a communal type table and were instantly greeted with menus. It was nearly noon and most tables were taken but it's not a very large room and it's very casual. Decor is rustic with car theme hanging license plates all around. I saw on Yelp portions were big to help justify the higher than normal prices so I ordered from senior menu not being real hungry. Hubby had a coffee and the classic Eggs Benedict at a whopping $20!! Never paid that even at nice restaurants with a view, but everything was averaging $15-20 for full breakfast. We wanted to try the onion rings but they were like $15!! No way, and nachos $26!!?? I realize it's enough for 2-3 people but still. I ordered one biscuit w/sausage gravy for $8.50 and added one egg for $2.25. It was the perfect amount with a little leftover. Hubby was thankfully impressed with his lovely plate of goodness. Plenty of good ham, hollandaise, eggs cooked perfectly and tasty crisp hot fries. Must admit the food is on target. I also added a well drink, it was a decent cocktail too. Service was pleasant and wait time wasn't bad for being busy. Only main issue is hefty prices, not everyone eats like it's their last meal. Smaller portion options would be nice.

I am not sure why this place does not receive better ratings. It's a five for me Let's talk about bang for the buck. This place is the bang. Servings are huge enough to share with several people. We order out more than eating in, (lazy person here). Quality of food and taste of everything I have tried breakfast wise has been amazingly tantalizing, very enjoyable. They have a great adult beverage selection. Prickly Pear was delicious with a great taste - great job. Problems might arise as they cater to those already seated - you will wait if it is busy. That includes waiting for food, containers and bill. I don't mind the wait as it is totally worth it. If you don't want to wait or you are in a rush - go when you can relax have a conversation a cup of coffee.

Both plates are two egg breakfast with toast and a LARGE (and yummy) pile of "well-done" hashbrowns. Very good!

We stayed a night in The Presidential Suite here. Due to the day of the week we had the place to…read moreourselves and that was a blast. The garden is calling me back. The place was immaculate and it was a beautiful view straight at the lake. Staying in the room where both Pres Teddy Roosevelt and Pres William Howard Taft slept was so awesome. As for comfort, I recommend that suite due to the double couches... Like nice stuffed modern couches. The 15th century paneling in the ballroom and great hall, the reclaimed stained glass pieces that were merged together and placed in every window, some shards going back to the 13th century, the love that went into the restoration of a place where once ancient oak was painted over (!!!) and according to comments that the sunken garden designed by Olmsted Bros was covered in blackberry bushes... It took my breath away. I felt very fortunate as I'd been dreaming of staying there. Hopefully a child of mine will get their wish and marry there. For those who are concerned, the wood paneling etc was purchased from a delapidated estate home that was noted as unsavable. In the grand tradition of Biltmore and Hearst Castle the import of entire chambers was done, but in a way this purchased material saved something precious. The stained glass was reclaimed by a member of the nobility in Britain or Europe whose passion was searching for these pieces. Having seen 3 different rose designs from the houses of Tudor, York and Lancaster, we're possibly looking at Tudor or even Pre-Tudor Britain for the all white and all red roses (look up The War of the Roses). Stunning. I wished I could have seen every single window in the place as it appears even servant's quarters windows on the 3rd floor have these beautiful stained glass designs. As for the brick that the exterior is constructed from, it was new brick made in good old Wales. Overall the brick and reclaimed building pieces were shipped around Cape Horn in 3 ships to Tacoma. Talk about a dangerous voyage. If you love horror the castle was practically saved by the huge payout from a network who made Stephen King's Rose Red. Each room has a copy on dvd. Also: 3rd floor common areas include a media room with comfy chairs open to all, a game room with a pool table etc, a small parlor with a prie-dieu in case you need to pray before a wedding ceremony or sit on its little parlor set. The second floor common area is a small library. For weddings, that and the suite across the hall are changing rooms. Lobby and ballroom on the first floor are common areas unless a wedding is going, in which case the weddings must wrap up by 9 pm. What a place. My only complaint is the final step onto the first floor from the staircase needs a railing. I fell hard and know I can't be the only one. It would be awful to fall as a bride who can barely see her feet while wearing heels. I'd also love to be able to order, online at least, a really wonderful book with old photos of the rooms etc and the facts and history of the house that the website doesn't cover. Bring cash to tip the maid as there is not really a modern checkout setup. The maids deserve a huge tip. FYI: this is no longer a B & B. They supplied our room with a lovely basket of snacks and there were complimentary sodas and water etc in the mini fridge. Yoi can order food if you want to but I didn't know how we'd let someone in the gates. As far as bringing food: do. There's a small microwave and a keurig as well as a small set of glassware, plates, actual utensils and linen napkins. It's a bit of a drive out to somewhere and check in is at 4 pm. Oh! Check out is 11 am which was nice. Again: please put a railing on the last step.

Consider Thornewood Castle Thornewood Castle is located near Joint Base Lewis-McChord, south of Tacoma, Washington. Hidden in the local neighborhood, the facility is strategically placed to take advantage of stunning shoreline views. The building has its historic origins from 400 years ago and moved brick by brick from the United Kingdom to Tacoma 1907. There have been many modern upgrades since its origins, but the staff has kept its ancient charm and made it a welcoming place for a modern 21st-century audience and beyond. Several parts of the facility can be decorated to meet the needs of your event. Chairs in the garden for announcements or wedding vows. The covered loggia, located on the eastern wing of the facility, can house plated or buffet dinners with room for a hosted bar. Mind you, a little elbow grease will be needed to make the facility as stunning as you need it to be. This includes having lawn reception for dinner in the back portion of the facility, facing the sun and beach. Be advised to make sure your caterers and vendors are aware of the facility's restrictions and limitations. Parking can also be a challenge given the size of the facility, but again, check with staff when making your booking. Now there are rooms for rent, and they are stunning. Rates and photos are available on their website. The photos can not adequately express how the rooms have been curated for short-term stays for guests. They are amazing in person to see. Would totally return if given an opportunity! Take the opportunity to visit!!
