Terrible terrible! Don't waste your money. They sell inferior merchandise. My mother's floor cracked after she paid an arm and a leg. The owner ( Brian) came after weeks and weeks of phone calls. He said he would fix it. Then all of a sudden he needed the bill, which my 95 year old mother couldn't find. Why did he need the bill? He saw the cracks IN PERSON. Weeks and weeks and months and months went by and he never answered my mother's calls and the repair was NEVER done. She's been a customer there for over 30 years and referred so many people there! Had a carpet installed and it was a disaster. Installer was more interested in leaving for an appointment rather than doing a good job. Installer also poked 2 holes in my wall...one of the owners said the holes were there...not true. Did send another installer who did the best he could. Rug installed in bedroom looks imperfect...was told mark would go away..again, not so. I would not go back to Carpets on U. read more

Yesterday. CARPETS ON U installed new carpet on my floors in my apartment. It is the color of ash tan and it is a commercial carpet. The carpet installers got all the work completed in 5 1/2 hours. From 8:30 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. . A job well done indeed. I'm very satisfied with the outcome. They do quality craftsmanship. Excellent work. And yet there were only two carpet installers. And these guys work fast. But yet nice and neat. And the old padding and carpet was taken out to the trash. And new padding and carpet was mounted on the floor. I packed everything in bags, boxes, and a suitcase. I put everything on my kitchen floor. And my furniture was moved to one side of the living room to the other side. Then was put back. Now my bedroom was going to be done next Saturday on 5/4/19. But that too was done yesterday on 4/24/19. They helped me move my stuff out of my room. And into the hall and living room. I was out of their way so they can finish. Now I have to put everything back the way it was. And that's it. I recommend everyone should use CARPETS ON U. Signed, Craig Apelbaum. read more

I had an entire floor installed by this store back in November 2019. The two gentlemen who owned the store (2 brothers) were very nice and definitely helpful when my husband and I came in to pick out a carpet. It's when the installers came in to do the job. We weren't living in the house at the time because we were doing a full gut renovation so we I was in and out during the installation. The first installer came at 9am and put down the padding all by himself for a few hours. Around 1pm, the remainder two installers came and put down carpet. The team was done by 3pm. I did think it was odd that it only took them two hours but assumed they were pretty efficient at their jobs. When I came to inspect, I noticed it was done half ass. The installers told me to call the store. The brothers told me someone would come and fix the job. And they did. They barely fixed anything. The carpet wasn't staples down correctly and is coming up on from the wall side pretty much from every room. The cuts are uneven. It just looks really cheap and poorly done. As if amateurs did it. I didn't leave a review right away but now that we are almost 8 months in, we are noticing the carpet is rising when we vacuum over it so I decided now is the time to warn people to stay away and spend your money somewhere else. TWO THUMBS WAY UP! Steve at Carpets on U is a real pro....we recently completed a corporate project with him and could not be more pleased. From start to finish, it was not only painless it was actually pleasant. He gave us options, within our budget, and guided us expertly. I would be happy to use him again -- AND to recommend him without any reservations. The funny thing is, we stumbled upon Steve and his company quite by accident. We were walking on Avenue U one day and simply walked in. Before walking into his shop, we were looking to redo the flooring in one of our stores for several months and had no success with other flooring companies. I thought Carpets on U were all fantastic! After purchasing our home, a friend recommended this place. We met with Steven who was so nice and showed us a good amount of options for our family room. We went with a durable Berber rug with appealing coloring. We returned and ordered a plush carpet for my daughter's room. The guys who came in for the installation were quick and right on the job. We liked dealing with Steven back in the store. He's a great guy! We're probably going back soon to get the flooring for our game room real soon. read more

I should have listened to others on how bad and awful this place is. They sell you second rate flooring and put all sorts of guarantees on them. All worthless! The owner is an idiot, his brother, the manager even more of an idiot. Gets involved like he wants to fight everyone. Got news friend, your business won't last long with the fist fighting attitude. He tells me "even through your floor is six months old, our guarantee is clear, we only cover full damage, not minor damage!". We have slight wear everywhere throughout the house. He is telling me to have the floors stripped and cleaned after under six months that it will work. We had two people over that stated clearly, it will NOT help that the floor is DAMAGED! He is telling us that he won't replace or repair flooring that doesn't need to be. We have two professionals that say otherwise! A floor shouldn't damage when there is only a small rolling office chair on it that was barely sat in! Our bedroom is even worse. Our ONLY option is court as these idiots are worthless to talk to! Floors are scuffed, and cracked in three rooms. The only room that is good is our den where nothing is except our closet and one small table. Never pay them cash. They tell you they will eat the tax if you do. What they are really saying is they will get over on you if you have any issues and pay cash. If I paid credit, I could have called the bank to handle this! read more

Worst carpet job ever! We had carpeting done back In October and I have only had problems with it. The carpet has come up multiple times and when you call them to fix it which is their job they aren't that nice. They have nerve to tell u they will come a certain day....say they called you meanwhile they never do. You have to chase these crooks. Never again! read more

This is not the first time I have dealt with "Carpets on U", my mother in law recommended this place to me about two years ago when I needed to have my RV redone. After doing a remarkable job on my RV, I decided that Steve would be the guy I would turn to when I opened my store. The only thing I can say is that the installers did a wonderful job. They made our Wedding Shop look fantastic, and it wasn't easy either because the floors were old and warped and were difficult to work with. All I can say is that they made it happen. Even the color suggestion was perfect. We originally picked out a lighter tone. Thankfully we went with their suggestion of a darker one which really brought out the merchandise in the store better(Not to mention that it would look cleaner as well). Overall we are very satisfied with "Carpets on U". They serve their customers very well, they are very professional. From the moment we first entered the establishment, we were greeted and served by a knowledgeable salesperson, installation as I stated above was fantastic. If you want a rather large headache, then buy your carpets or flooring here! They change the price and go back on there word over and over again. We had three rooms done by them in June of 2008 with a quote on the other rooms in writing. Then went back in September for the other two rooms to be done. There prices went up $7 per yard for the same floors and they also changed the measurements for my house even though I have it in writing. They also wanted to charge us for removal, $6 per yard, on paper they wrote $2 per yard. They are also in a rather large court battle with almost a whole building on Avenue U for there scammer traits and con artist ways. Steve, Michael, and Alan are all scam artists and there company rotates the employees so you dont see the same scammers over and over. The BBB and many other sites have such bad reports on them, I only wish I didnt give them the Business first go round. Even if I reach a few, at least people will learn about these con men!
