Like most of the other reviews here, I contacted Carpets 46 after seeing their Yelp reviews. We needed lots of carpeting - over 5,000 square feet across 3 floors and multiple rooms in my house. Ended up going with these guys after spending almost 2 hours with Luke in their showroom. Pros: -Luke is about as accessible as it gets. He came over to my house literally the morning after he got back from his honeymoon to do the measurements. I've since traded several dozen emails with him with questions, changes, updates, etc. and he usually responds within a few hours, if not sooner, 7 days a week. -Luke is quite knowledgeable about carpeting to say the least. After knowing nothing about carpets and spending a couple hours with him, we were able to pick out the type of carpets, colors, and pads that we needed for each room. He also has an uncommon sense for detail. For example, when he came to do the measurements he told me that we needed to remove some floorboards in our basement to install the carpets properly. Two months later when we were ready to install, I vaguely remembered that he had said something about floorboards and emailed him for a clarification. He knew right away what I was talking about and explained again what I had to do, after only having seen my house once. -We had a compressed timeline between the day we closed on the house and the day we were planning to move in, but they were able to order and install all of the carpeting within that timeframe. Furthermore, we were renovating our basement and couldn't put carpet in for several weeks. That was not a problem as they were perfectly fine holding my carpets and waiting until we were ready to do the installation. -The quality of the work is good and turned out exactly as specified. The workers left the carpets looking even and clean, and no trace of their presence after the job was done. Cons: -Showroom is not easily accessible by public transportation so you would need a car to visit. However it was worth the trip for us because we were able to talk to Luke in person and try out all of the different carpets. -Not really a con, but we didn't shop around to other vendors before choosing Carpets 46, so I'm not sure how their prices compare to others. I'm guessing we probably could've paid less if we had gone with a discount carpeter or wholesaler, but we went with Carpets 46 because of the high touch, personalized service and positive reviews. Carpet installation seems like something that can be easily screwed up and difficult to repair, so we wanted to go with someone that was reputable, trustworthy, and accessible during every step of the process. read more

We originally reached out to Carpets 46 to refinish our wood floors. Luke was very helpful and informative during the process and also was mindful of our budget. Before the project was going to start a pipe burst in our home and our dining room floor ending up getting ruined. Luke and team came to the rescue and redid the wood in our entire first floor and were still able to refinish the upstairs. Luke was even nice enough to reach out to our insurance adjuster on our behalf to help us get a bigger settlement to cover the damage. This is a great business who do excellent work at very fair prices, we highly recommend them! read more

NJ flooring (never use them) did laminate flooring for my house, however, left the work incomplete. After a long wait, I finally looked around and found Carpets 46. We recently had carpeting installed in three bedrooms, hall and steps. We chose Carpets 46 because their selection was extensive and the owner was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining about different types of carpeting and installation. The price was competitive. We were able to arrange installation to fit our schedule. The rugs were delivered and installed on the date promised, at the time promised. We found this place on yelp and was impressed by the ratings and immediately contacted them to inquire about replacing our carpets. Luke (owner) set us up with an appointment promptly and gave us an estimate. We didn't know anything about carpets or how to choose and Luke patiently walked us through all the different stuff and never did he try to upsell or put any pressure on us into making a decision. We finally decided on one and Luke stopped by our house on the same day to take measurements and ordered the carpet. The installation was handled by three people and was done professionally. It was a pleasure doing business with Carpets46, everything went so smooth and quickly. I highly recommend anyone in the area to try them out. I was going to write a nice long review, but every bit of praise and satisfaction I would want to state has already been written. I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Luke, his service, recommendations, and his friendly, professional installation crew. I've purchased carpeting and padding from them twice in the last 6 months (one purchase was an emergency situation with a plumbing disaster and damaged carpeting which was handled with ease for me.) Found Carpet 46 on Yelp and would highly recommend! Luke provided excellent advice and service from the moment we walked in the door thru to the final installation. We had a very difficult staircase with multiple size landings and curves. John and Joe who measured the templates and did the installation created a beautifully finished stairway runner. All around exceptional company something that is not seen often these days. I met with Luke, he was professional and easy to work with. I was able to speak with him freely without any interruptions like other companies do. When I was done, Luke new exactly what I needed and was able to provide it at an amazing price. He did not try to sell me on some rediculously priced carpet that I did not need and understood the purpose of the carpet I was buying. Luke informed me that it would take up to two weeks to install which I was fine with. However, Luke called me a few days later and told me that he was able to get the carpet quicker and was able to get it installed the upcoming weekend. It was imperative that we get this installed ASAP because my wife and I were in the process of designing a new playroom for our children and Luke delivered. The installers are by far the best installers I have ever dealt with. They were very professional and respectful. Upon arrival (10mins before the scheduled time which was great ) they introduced themselves and started to unload. After about 2 hours give or take they were done. They showed us the room to ensure it was to our satisfaction and it was impeccable. Needed to get carpeting installed on 2 flights of steep hardwood stairs. Honestly I didn't really want to get carpet, but needed to for safety reasons, and I had no idea what would work well in our home on a limited budget. The owner, Luke, spent a while going over samples with me at the store without an appointment on a Friday, and came by with several more samples while taking measurements to help put me at ease. Luke was very patient and seemed to have reasonable pricing compared to other companies in the area. The carpet installation was within the scheduled window, and the guys who did it were fast and professional. The carpet looks great and seems to be very secure so far. My only complaint is that the guys had to cut through a few small pieces of molding on the top stairs to install it (which was unavoidable), but they didn't mention it at the time and I found the pieces lying around later. It doesn't seem like a big deal to fix, but I wish they had said something when they were here and showed me where the pieces belonged and/or what I could do to fix it. read more

I had just purchased a new home in Bergen county and not having owned a house before I had no idea about carpeting and such things. One of my girls rooms needed new carpeting to replace the dark green existing one. After some quick research I realized this is a job best left to professionals and found Carpets 46 on an internet/yelp search. I called a few other places but Luke at carpets 46 was the fastest to respond. Let me just say that I am a fairly discerning consumer when it comes to customer service. Luke came by and I could just tell he took his business and his carpets seriously. After walking through the room I wanted re-carpeted I probed about some of the other carpeted rooms on that floor, fully knowing that I was opening myself up to the up-sell. Luke was very genuine and told me the carpet did not necessarily need replacing but pointed out some worn spots and things to look for as the carpet aged. He then simply stated that he plans on doing such a good job on the existing room that I would call him when ready to do the other rooms. Needless to say I did the entire floor and saved a few bucks on the bulk rate of the order. The crew that came was great - personable and clearly knew their stuff. We were under a tight timeline to get the girls rooms done before we moved in and the guys came early on a Sunday and one evening to get everything prepped to ensure they would finish on time. Luke's communication and follow up was great. The rooms look fantastic and the whole family is happy with their new carpet.
