This is probably the worst experience I have ever had with a company…read more After dropping $28K (non-insurable damage) on remediation and reconstruction, my takeaway is that I should have listened to the constant red flags throughout the month-long process and just switched to a different contractor. You assume high dollar means high quality; throw the assumption out the window - apparently you can hire anybody off the street to do this work. First, before I could even sign a contract and pay a deposit, the remediation crew came unexpectedly knocking at my door to start work at 9am - the problem is that this was also BEFORE ASBESTOS TESTING. Servpro could have seriously endangered my house, my family, and their crew with mesothelioma due to incompetence - THIS IS INEXCUSABLE! Once the contract commenced, the remediation should have taken two days, but dragged on and on over three weeks due to laziness, being "too hot" (in spring), and I kid you not, being scared. Why these people signed up to do construction work if they are scared is beyond me, but the last thing you want to hear is that a $28K crew is "too scared" to complete a job. Every time the crew pretended to be finished, I had to expose myself to the damaged area to check over their work, point out the problems and get yelled at by office staff, and have the project manager come verify that low and behold, the client is not lying. In total the PM was at my home 5 times to ensure that the 22 line items in our contract were completed. Near the end of this process we uncovered an additional area with damage that needed an addendum, which does make getting quotes difficult if the initial estimate is not thorough. This additional work required two different remediation crews to complete since the office started catching on that the first crew was going to take too long. Luckily the reconstruction crew was completely different (a subcontractor) that actually did the job right the first time. They got their tasks knocked out over two days - and did it correctly without incident. Unfortunately for my timing, this all happened as the company exchanged franchisee owners, so everything will just be ignored as "old ownership problems", but the feedback here is not on ownership, but with the ethos of how this location can get by doing the bare minimum while charging top dollar; all with no accountability. The price was fair, the work was scheduled quickly. The team showed up nice and early in the morning, and were done at about 4pm, and when they were done, the floor looked amazing. We recently had water damage in our home when the washing machine decided to overflow and put a…read moresignificant amount of water on the laundry room and kitchen floors.  The water ran through into the basement damaging the ceiling and walls in our finished basement, as well as the carpeting on the floor.  We immediately called ServPro, who quickly came to our rescue, helping us move things out of the way to minimize damage and to begin the initial clean-up of the water. This was followed by one of their expert teams coming in and cleaning up the mess, removing the ruined kitchen and laundry room floors, as well as part of the basement ceiling and walls, and drying the entire place out. We could not have been more pleased with the workmanship and the professionalism of the team.  They were courteous and thoughtful and worked quickly, safely and took great care with our belongings.  They really appreciated what we were going through and were incredibly helpful throughout the process.  The office personnel, especially Tia, were so incredibly helpful as well, working to get estimates and paperwork together and even contacting our insurance company for us to make sure everything was taken care of. First and foremost, the water restoration was AMAZING. The team was great. Same team showed up…read moreeach time and explained everything they were going to do. They were extremely courteous to my wife, my kids and me. Great guys. Would use that team any day for water restoration. That interaction was the shortest part of the job, hence the low rating. The restoration and office experience is an entire different story... Before I go into the bad, I will say everyone who entered my home was kind and respectful. Now the not so good: -Promises go unfulfilled. -told that we would finish in a week. It took almost 3 weeks -a team was supposed to show up on a daily basis by 8:30am. They showed up around 9:30/10:00am. Sometimes a few people, other times 1 person. One of the workers said he was taking vacation soon and the manager told us that person had to leave on a family emergency out of country. In my experience, emergencies are usually a "get up and go" type of instance vs something planned. -work was left unfinished and when I called the office they said "the walkthrough was completed" -We also took a railing down after a portion of the wall was painted (they still had to put on more coats of paint). They chose not to paint the area where the railing meets the wall. They said "oh, I thought you were putting this back up." We were told they would return to fix. Got a call that day asking to have it moved back until the following Tuesday... never showed, never called, nothing. I guess it was my fault since I went ahead and paid before it was fixed. - Attention to detail -many things were considered "done" and we had to point out holes that were not filled before painting, quarter round molding not nearly flush, holes in grout, etc. This would not have been fixed unless we pointed it out. For painting, these guys don't even tape. sloppy job on a number of corners. -Payment/Office interaction. - gave an upfront payment with a credit card. No issues, no fees - the day the job was finished, we were told if we wanted to pay with credit card again, we would have a 3.5% fee. No notification of this until the day of. Nothing written on payment terms in the contract, just a "by the way, this is happening now".. also, if they had finished on time, this would not have been a problem because this new policy was implemented after the fact. Talked to Steven about it who was very unprofessional. I told him about the delay being the issue and if they had finished on time, I would have still been able to pay. He even tried to blame me fore the delay. "Oh, you requested more work" (the promise of when they would finish occurred after the work was requested). Then he said they were waiting on the insurance adjuster to approve the additional work. Funny, the insurance adjuster called me asking where the update was from ServPro as she wanted to make sure this was taken care of quickly (I used servpro because they are a preferred vendor of the insurance I use so communication would be direct. He also said "we were waiting on your sliding glass to be delivered" (something they forgot to remove on their template contract from another customer...we had no sliding glass being done). Garrison at least had apathy, was apologetic and said they are working on how to inform people properly. Might not seem like a big deal but I don't like providing my bank account number. It's much more of a pain to fix than a credit card if it is used inappropriately. I told them I would take my time paying and Steven gave me more grief. I said how do they expect me to pay with a check if the insurance company has not even paid me. Turns out they didn't even tell the insurance company they had finished so the funds could be released! Just adding in, seems like I got a response sayiNg I should call about questions I have. I actually voiced all that was wrong. Kind of funny I keep finding more that is wrong. For instance, in the middle of a kitchen tile there is a piece of plastic or glue sticking out of the grout and spots that weren't even painted. Kind of funny that a walk through the house with my pregnant wife who just wanted the job done is a "final sign off" that the work is completed.
