Tom's did the floors in my unit a few weeks ago. Here are my thoughts:…read more Pros: - Communication: Generally very prompt communication. I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

She picked this out because vinyl was "cost-friendly," but I quickly found out many great engineered hardwood sections that were cheaper and nicer looking than vinyl with TJ's help. TJ was chill, nice, and talked to my fiancé and me for two hours, educating us on engineered hardwood flooring and helping us pick out almost 4,000 sq ft of 4 different types of flooring for four different units to help us maintain the original beauty of the Edwardian building and stay under budget. I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

Having to take care of a disabled mother and work at the same time is a little strenuous and complicated so when we decided to replace the carpets in our two bedrooms (one was my mothers) we had a hard time locating a carpet company that would be willing to come to our home to measure after business hours and install on a weekend. A friend recommended us to Carpet Contractors on Geary. We called and explained our problem to Guidio. He put us at ease. He offered to come to our home that night at 6:30 PM after work and bring us samples to choose from. The prices where more than fair. Their installers showed up on Saturday at 10:00 AM as arranged. They did a great job without making a mess, removed and replaced my mother's furniture and took away the old carpet and pad for recycling. These types of service are something my mother says, "Belongs to the good old days". Carpet Contractors proved that the good old days are still here. We recommend them very highly. read more

I wanted to surprise my wife while she was away by recarpeting our entire upstairs. I spoke with Nick, and the next day Guidio came out to my house and measured my rooms. He also had with him a bunch of samples for me to choose from. We arranged to have the install done the day after my wife left so that I would have time to move some furniture around. Since I wasn't able to free up all three bedrooms at the same time, they arranged to do two bedrooms, the hallway, and the stairway, and then return the following day so that I could move the furniture back into the completed rooms and allow them to finish. The installers were prompt and professional. They did an excellent job and vacuumed up afterwards. My wife was very surprised and extremely pleased that I was able to do this while she was away. I manage a few apartment buildings in the neighborhood and stopped by to get a carpet quote for one of my apartments. The manager and other sales staff were very friendly and advised me on which carpet to select based on my budget. They have a huge carpet selection and even sell other types of flooring like hardwood. The quote was lower than the other 2 carpet stores in the neighborhood so I placed an order. I had my carpet installed within a couple of days and was very happy with the professional service. I was very impressed and went back to get another carpet - a custom shaped area rug for a room in one of my buildings. They had the carpet cut according to my floor plan and also offered binding. I'll be going back to Carpet Contractors in a couple of months for my next 1-bedroom project which will need new carpeting and hardwood floors. read more

i called and scheduled for a quote. guy showed up when he said he would and took measurements. texted me the price and pics of color options. i agreed and chose one. paid 50% via zelle. he ordered the carpet and said he'd let me know when it arrived so we could schedule. a few days later he did just that and we scheduled the install. i cleared out my entire apartment so they could do the job and on the day of the install, 2 guys showed up at the time we had agreed. they put the carpet in. great job. looks and feels like a new apartment. i paid the remaining 50% via zelle. piece of cake. read more

Shopping for carpet here was a great experience. I browsed through the large selection of remnants and found one I liked. After paying (way less than I thought I would!), the carpet was delivered to the store a week later and I was able to stop in and pick it up. The reason I've rated them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their initial unresponsiveness and long delay in providing a quote. When I initially contacted Hayri via Yelp, he called me right away to set up a measuring appointment. Unfortunately, he then forgot to mark our appointment on his calendar, and was over an hour late for our appointment. He was very apologetic, and then promised to provide a quote within 4 days. It took him nearly two weeks to provide the quote, after multiple emails. Hayri ultimately provided an extremely competitive quote, and despite our disappointment with his responsiveness, we rolled the dice because of his price and rave reviews on Yelp. We made a good call. Hayri's team finished our hardwood flooring installation a week ahead of schedule, and overall, it looks great. There was one issue, and he sent one of his employees out to fix it (though it took a couple weeks for him to come). That said, they corrected their error with no pushback and were very polite and professional about the whole thing, which we appreciated. Overall, Metro Floors did good work for us. If you can handle off and on radio silence, and getting a good price for high quality flooring and installation is a priority for you, Hayri is a good choice.

His quote was not the lowest, but after walking through the house with him, I felt confident that he knew exactly what he was doing. He took the time to assess the floors properly, explain the options, and provide honest recommendations rather than trying to upsell unnecessary work. The quality of the work was excellent. The floors look beautiful, and I have not found a single issue with the finished product. What I especially appreciated was Harry's attention to detail and professionalism. He repaired several floorboards, completed a few closets that we had not even specifically discussed, and took care of a couple of additional items he discovered along the way without making a big deal about it. Those small touches showed real pride in his work. The project was completed on a tight timeline before our move-in, but Harry never gave the impression that he was rushing. Instead, he spent the time necessary to do the job correctly and delivered a result that genuinely transformed the floors. If you're looking for someone who is knowledgeable, trustworthy, detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering quality work, I would highly recommend Harry. The experience was smooth from start to finish, and I would not hesitate to hire him again.

There were 3 different types of wood in the different rooms and stairs, and after sanding and finishing, the end result was more beautiful than I could have every imagined, and the wood textures and colors were beautifully complementary I highly recommend them for their attention to detail, quality of work, and knowledgeable professionalism.

After enduring 5 different tenants, each with pets, since 2016, the floors held up extremely well but I thought that they could use a new buffing before I put the unit back on the market because they had recently incurred some water damage from a ceiling leak. Jaime came over the very next day after I had contacted him, and then rebuffed the floors the following day. The price was extremely reasonable. What was most surprising is the Jaime actually moved the kitchen appliances and to remove the accumulated debris under them, despite my suggestion that he need not bother to do this extra work. This is definitely a man who cares about his work: conscientious, efficient, reliable and most importantly, a skilled craftsman!
