Fast, and fairly priced. They also seem to use their own installation team, so they have more control over scheduling and quality. Story time: My previous tenants destroyed the carpet, something I discovered after they moved out :( That left me in a pickle - I had less than two weeks before the new tenant moved in. I showed up to their store on a Tuesday evening, and met Jim, and told him of my issue. He had whole thing done in 4 days! Timeline: * Tuesday evening - went to the store, met Jim, told him I needed carpets ASAP. * Wednesday morning - Jim himself came by to visit and take measurements * Wednesday afternoon - Jim texted me some pictures of their carpets they had in stock and emailed estimates. * Wednesday evening - I picked one of the in stock carpets and paid the deposit (50%). * Thursday - I gave a key to the unit to Jim. Jim committed to having carpets done early the following week. * Friday - Jim said a slot opened up on his installers schedule sooner, and he had them replace the carpets that day. Also they were actually cheaper than another quote I got from a flooring store, and similar to Home Depot. I had used Home Depot once before and I was not a fan of their installation quality (or honestly their scheduling), so was looking for someone else. These carpet contractors guys though did a great job - clean edges and great fit. Attaching some photos of their work they did. read more

Interestingly, the owner says my review is fake and I've never been his customer, but we have extensive documents and photo evidence that that is not the case. This individual is lying and scheming to make himself look innocent when he's not. We will be very public with our litigation and our discovery so every accusation mentioned in my previous review will be shown to be true. It's shameful the owner cannot take responsibility and admit his mistakes. Our lawsuit will teach him a lesson in that. I feel sorry for his contractors who actually did a great job for what it was despite being sick and visibly disabled. They also have claims that they should take to court read more

Extremely pleased with my recent carpet purchase/install done by Carpet Contractors. They came and measured the same day I called and in less than a week I had the carpet installed. We want to thank Jim Mendelsohn for handling this project with professionalism, great communication, and above all a timely installation. We were in a time crunch as another carpet company canceled at the last minute and Jim was able to quickly find a solution and a quick turnaround. We were carpeting in a studio apartment in a building we own, and needed some soundproofing solutions. Within a week from signing the contract we had the carpet installed, and they did a beautiful job. Next time we will definitely go to Carpet contractors first. And by the way the price was significantly less than other quotes. We highly recommend Carpet contractors. read more

BEWARE!! Quick to sell but when it comes to quality of work and install, it's makes regret getting carpet here. My carpet install was fine for about a week then it started to lift in some areas. I called multiple times only for them to tell me they will call me back. I simply wanted them to repair it. I can't stand walking on the carpet in my house because I fear it's going to fall apart. It's a horrible feeling. Ever buy a car that turned out to be a lemon but you are stuck with it? That's how I feel. Thanks for the response Nick. I will be reaching out shortly. Here are some pictures. read more

Had a single room project to complete. The showroom team helped me find a suitable pattern in less than half an hour. The next day a representative came through for a site review and provided a quote same day. Installation was easy to schedule, occurred as planned, and finished ahead of time. Top marks all around. Very easy to work with and would highly recommend. Ask for Dmitri. read more

We had a great experience with carpet contractors installing a stair runner. They were knowledgeable and able to get the work completed very quickly at a reasonable price. I fell down our hardwood stairs and broke my elbow and we needed a runner to make them less slippery. I think they came our beautiful and I feel much safer. read more

excellent! Love dealing with Jim. He was very professional and straightforward. Carpet price fair and beautifully installed. Thank you Jim for fixing the up charge on the tack replacement in my closest. If not for you, this review could have gone a lot different. When a client spends over 10k on a job, it was the right thing to do. anyway, yes I would definitely hire them for any jobs in future. I've used them for both my rental and resident. I just had the most fabulous experience with Demetri and his team! I knew exactly what I wanted and they not only had a good selection of carpets, they had an in-house installation team that were able to install the new carpets within 3 days of placing the order. WOW! I was very impressed by their speed, efficiency, and overall professionalism. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

We want to express our appreciation for the work done by Carpet Contractors on installing a sisal carpet on our stairs and entry way. Demetri worked with us to select the right pattern and came out to confirm the project. Erwin and Oscar (20+ years with them) did a great job installing the carpet. We checked out Abbey Carpets and The Floor Store but felt that Carpet Contractors had a more personal touch and we were proven right. They were ready to make recommendations and discuss alternatives but were also willing to step back and listen to what the customer wanted. We recommend them for your next project. read more

I visited the Geary Blvd showroom, looking for some carpet to have cut into a rug that fits my room. I don't know much about carpet, and Jim was so patient and knowledgable. He offered several options, left me to wander around the store for as long as I wanted, and answered all my questions. When the carpet arrived, there was a little snafu with the sizing. Jim went above and beyond to fix it, coming to my house himself to diagnose the issue, hand-delivering the correction just two days later, and personally ensuring that everything was absolutely perfect. You just don't see that kind of service any more. That's the difference between shopping locally-owned businesses versus going to a big box store: a focus on relationships and a personal touch. A wonderful experience all around. Thanks, Jim! read more

We worked with the staff at Carpet Contractors to redo the carpet downstairs in our home. They were outstanding to work with -- very knowldegeable, patient, and responsive. Dimitri especially went out of his way to make sure the installation happened on our time frame-- so greatly appreciated!! read more

My wife and I had never done upgrades on our modest Mission condo. We didn't know much of anything about carpeting, much less terms such as berber, pile and padding. Demitri walked us through a well socially-distanced carpet presentation to help us understand what we liked and what we didn't like. He was patient, super knowledgeable and a good guy. Carpet Contractors has a huge variety in its Richmond shop. Then, when it came time for installation, Carpet Contractors' workers were smart, efficient and knew their work. They finished in under 3 hours. We couldn't be happier with the result. We will definitely patronize this small business again. read more

I needed a replacement for an area rug that my kids had just plain worn out over the years. Demetri was excellent on the phone in asking all the right questions and a few I hadn't even considered. He then showed me dozens of sample in their showroom, taking my feedback and refining the search until we found exactly the perfect color, style, and pile that my wife and I were looking for. His team cut it and delivered in just a couple of days and then brought it in and helped us lay it in the living room. It's much nicer than we were hoping for and way better than the old rug....and all for a very reasonable price. Extremely helpful and professional from beginning to end! (Side note: Demetri and the entire team were all very conscientious and respectful about wearing masks which we especially appreciated since our 13-year old is at high risk of infection.) read more

Customer service was excellent. The team is very professional and were able to save me a significant amount over other companies. This is a shout out to Jim Mendelson at Carpet Contractors, who provided me with wonderful, kind, caring and patient customer service to me while I agonized for 3 months over a carpet choice! Even while in pain with his back (that's how hard he works!!) he never once lost patience with me. As someone else mentioned, he is a rare gem, and one of a kind. I love my new carpet! We hired Jim Mendelson and team to carpet our second floor in San Francisco, in order to help with noise insulation. Jim was an absolute gem to work with throughout the entire process - highly professional, accurate, reliable, and kind. It's such a joy to walk on and play with our 1 year old baby and everyone who visits - comments favorably about it! ***HOLE OWNER AND WILL EXTORT MONEY FROM YOU...ILLEGAL PRACTICES This by far was the worst business experience of my life. I went to these guys for carpet for my house in the Richmond District. My father and his mother (my grandmother) had been buying flooring from this place since they first opened in the 70's. Kiss this family and 50 yrs of being customers goodbye. They installed the carpet incorrectly and it looks awful. Then, when it came time to pay them, Nick, the owner said that I needed to pay an extra $150.00 for a charge up since his company he buys carpet from raised prices. WTF? I never signed anything that said this. it was not mentioned in the estimate. Then, Nick called me and said if I did not pay the mark up that he was going to lien my house. This is not legal but I was very scared. He was threatening and I felt vulnerable. I gave in and paid the money but I'm warning you females out there...he is a chauvinistic major jerk and ***hole. He is lucky my husband died. This would have ended differently. I am telling everyone I know about this incident. I would not use them to carpet my dog's house! read more

Carpet contractors replaced our condos interior lobby and 3 flights of stairs. Not a small feat. Super flexible with covid - as in, they let each of us owners come in separately (social distancing!), select various samples and even let us physically carry out a few books for the night (which they wouldn't normally do) allowing us to see all the variations (instead of ordering a gajillion samples which we still did) Installation day, their two guys came, worked in masks for 9.5hrs to complete the entire job! The carpet looks great, is smooth and seems durable read more

Oscar and Julio did an excellent job. They were fast, thorough and great to work with. I'd definitely recommend them.

We used Carpet Contractors to help re-carpet four floors of stairs in the common area of our building. Specifically, we worked Demetri, and he very quickly came up with a very competitive quote. I found him to be very responsive and a pleasure to work with. For installation, we had Gabe and Carlos, both of whom did a great job. The end result was better than we hoped for and I would highly recommend using Carpet Contractors again int he future. read more

I strolled in here on a Saturday afternoon with one thing in mind and ended up leaving with a few different samples for my bedroom. Demetri was so easy to work with, no pressure and made some really good suggestions. I returned on Monday with my Greek speaking Godmother (cuz she feels the need to be protective) and she was quite surprised at the great quality of the carpet that I chose. I did spend a little more than I planned, however, the carpet IS a nice grade and was approx 50% off of retail. 2 days later Demetri was at my house to measure and schedule my install (Very Niiice) The installers came out the following week (per my request) and did a beautiful job. I was SUPER sick with a bad flu when they came but they were in and out of here before it was time for my 2nd dose of meds :) Do yourself a favor, check these guys out! They will not disappoint. Efharisto Demetri! read more

My last review said "if this was my first time, I would give them 2 stars instead of 3, since I know they can do better." Well, they haven't improved. I'm going down to 2 stars. Installation is still sloppy and damaging. Just found carpet glue on a door jamb, and they scratched up the freshly painted base boards and door frames everywhere. I expect some nicks here and there, but this was exceptional. They're all very nice people, and they have competitive pricing, but as a long time customer I expected better. read more

My husband and I just bought a new home, with a very quick move-in timeline (8 days from the time we got the keys). We knew that we wanted to carpet the stairs with a runner, and the four bedrooms. Our realtor referred us to Dimitri at Carpet Contractors, and we could not be happier with the results. I called Dimitri right away to tell him our needs. He advised that I come into the store to view their selection, and had already pulled out appropriate choices in anticipation of my arrival. He came to our home with a whittled down selection of samples the day we got the keys to do measurements and take my order. He promised the installation could happen before our move-in date 8 days later, and he delivered with 2 days to spare. Then about one week later, we decided our previous home needed new carpet for staging purposes. Measurements and installation happened in 2 days. The quality is great, the customer service is great and the price is very fair. These guys are experts - I'd hire them again in a heartbeat! read more

After a long time of debating/stressing out about changing our kitchen floors, housemates and I decided to change our floors with Carpet Contractors... and we were FLOORED (haha) by their amazing job and price. The price was definitely cheaper than anywhere else we could find. 2 guys arrived right on time, and were very courteous. We scheduled the job with Dimitri, I believe he may be the owner... He was really knowledgeable and polite. His recommendations for our floors were spot on, hands down...to the flo! They installed brand new floors and removed all traces of the old icky floor in less than 3 hours. If you're even considering getting new floors, I recommend Carpet Contractors, no doubt. With their affordable price and efficiency, they made it sooo easy for us to dance on our brand spankin new beautiful kitchen floors. read more

We had a minor disaster - a housemate moved out and left the carpet in her room damaged by pet urine. We tried everything we could to get rid of the horrible smell but ended up needing to replace the carpet in the room. (By the way - if you ever have this problem - just go straight to ripping up the carpet and padding, and paint the floor with Kilz or some other good quality sealant - nothing else will remove the smell - not enzymes, not Oxyclean, not vinegar and baking soday - once it's dried on it might as well be stinky Super-glue.) I met with Nick, who didn't bat an eyelash at the small job - he helped me pick out a carpet - very quickly, I might add, considering the huge selection - that was close to the original in color and quality, gave me a fair price, and did the job less than a week after our communication. Everyone I worked with - Nick, Guidio (who came out and did the measurements and gave us the estimate) and the gentlemen who actually did the work - was professional, kind, courteous and friendly. The new carpet looks beautiful - they did a great job! By the way - Nick has an *amazing* memory - his company did the original carpeting for the complex we live in probably 20 years ago, and he described the layout of our apartment *to a T*! :O Just brilliant. :) read more

I am opening a new retail store located in the same block as these guys. I stopped in to get a quote on carpet and left with an appointment for installation the next morning. I was impressed with the helpful attitude of the guys with whom we interacted. They are knowledgeable but not pushy and let us make our decisions. In addition to the floor carpet, we put carpet on our walls. Since we needed to do that part ourselves, they were happy to just sell us the wall coverings and had the pieces cut to the exact size we needed. They even sent us adhesive information so we could get the right product. If you need professional service and good products, these are your guys. Thanks Demetri & Guidio. read more

Last year when there's a big storm, 2 apartments in our building were water damaged and the carpets needed to be replaced. My husband checked several carpet companies and Carpet Contractors finally got his business. First of all, their price was at least 30% cheaper than the others in the area. Secondly, Jaleh was very nice and prompt to come to make the measurement. Some other companies could not come until the following week. Thirdly, she really gave professional advice on choice of carpets. She recommended the commercial grade which was thick enough to keep the apartment warm. Jaleh ended up won the business and the installers did a great job, fast and decent. Also, they cleaned up after their work, including removal of the soaky old carpets out of the building. Yes, they did show up a bit late but they have called ahead informing that they would be late. Jaleh's "neighbor" worker Nick is also a very nice and humorous guy. We really enjoy working with them and would have no doubt to refer any business to them. read more
