This is a relatively new restaurant and I expect will improve in time. I do hope so as the location…read moreis nice, the room has been redone nicely, and the food was good, but service was slow and spotty. I think they just don't have enough servers. We arrived just after our friends who advised they had already ordered their drinks. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our drink order and then vanished. No drinks for quite some time. A manager came over to ask if anybody had visited us, apologized for the delay, and returned with our drinks. I'm estimating it was a bit over 30 minutes or so before drinks arrived. Our waitress did return, apologized and took our food order. I wasn't so sure about ordering sushi, but glad we did. The maki we tried were very good, fresh and beautifully presented. A great start. We switched gears for our entree and went with a parpadelle bolognese. A nice generous portion that was as good as some of the Italian spots in the area. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I would easily have given 4 stars, but the service needs improvement. You would need to plan to spend at least a couple of hours for a lunch. In our case it was not a big deal as we were enjoying time with friends, but I can understand the other negative reviews now. We do plan to return to work our way deeper into the menu, and hope they will have more staff to help with the front of the house.

This wasn't our first visit to this place; we had visited once before and sat on the patio (during…read morewinter, so it was sealed up like a cozy igloo). Knowing the drill, we were prepared to valet the car, which is definitely a downside since it slows down the whole getting-in-and-out process. We made our way to the host stand and were greeted warmly. We asked for seating for three (husband, wife, and child) and were led to a table along the outside of the bar. It was a great window seat but definitely on the louder side. Not an issue for us, but if you're bringing someone who's hard of hearing or just doesn't like noise, consider this a heads-up. Our waitress came over to take our drink order immediately, and we placed our food order shortly after. We started with the Brussels sprouts appetizer. I ordered the Poke Bowl, my husband went for the Mac & Cheese, and our son ordered the same from the kids' menu. Drinks took a while to arrive. When the appetizer came, I noticed my utensils were sticky and asked for a new set. This took wayyyyy longer than it should have. She literally went and gathered some drinks from the bar and delivered them before getting me the utensils. The appetizer was tasty but lacked the sriracha kick we expected from the description (though I honestly preferred them this way). Our meals arrived, and I noticed mine was very small but delicious. My husband's dish was missing the chicken and prosciutto and was really dry. Our son's dish had chicken on the side (a good idea) because he didn't like the pasta, calling it "dry and weird" (his words). My husband asked for a side of cheese and the missing chicken and prosciutto. He only got the chicken and cheese (at this point, we let the prosciutto go). We ordered a second round of drinks but should have ordered them as soon as the first round arrived because the meal was pretty much done by the time we got the second round. In the end, we skipped dessert and paid the check. The lackluster personality of our waitress didn't help things. We handed in the valet tag with payment (as instructed) and still waited over 10 minutes for our car by the time we got to the parking lot. Overall, this place has promise but still needs some work before it can capitalize on the summer traffic. If they can't figure it out, I fear it won't last like many of their predecessors. Fingers crossed for them because I do think they can be wonderful!

A group of us met up here on a weeknight for drinks & to play Music Bingo. I was early & decided…read moreto go in by myself & get a table (s). Entering I was greeted by the friendly owner who was also tending the bar. From what I saw upon entering the bar is very clean and neat. It may be because now is considered off-season, it was busy but low key & people who were there were obviously enjoying it. I decided on a table & within minutes my friends showed up. The bar does not serve food. So I stopped and got 2 pizzas for us all to share. We ordered drinks & walked up to the bar to pay. We were prepared knowing beforehand that they only take cash...so no issues with that. I did not order an alcoholic beverage... Others did & liked them very much. It seems like they are priced . moderately. My drink was a diet coke in a tall glass.. just right. So it became time to play and the nice DJ came over to explain the game and pass out cards and markers. One of my group won the first round! They brought her over a bag loaded with swag .. I don't know about you, but winning is exciting & gives an adrenaline pump - usually no matter what the prize is. So on came the 2nd round & a winner from the other side of the venue. The next and last round ended up being a coverall! We thought .. no one will win this one. She played 50 song bits & no one was winning. So she cheered us on and asked if we wanted 5 more. Otherwise without a winner the pot grows. So we said yes! And low & behold... I ended up winning! I won __ in cash!!! It was decided between us that we will definitely return : - )

The place is quaint and clean. Everyone was awesome, welcoming and fun and pleasant and made us feel like locals. The karaoke crowd was great and the bartender was awesome. During this visit, we had nicely crafted mojitos, good selection of beer and wine. The tuna poke has fresh tuna, sesame, just cut jalapeños, fresh spices and sticky rice - nicely done! They do have a host sitting parties down, but there are also standing areas, self-seating tables, and seats by the bar. The menu includes a good variety of food items, but ultimately the Baja smashburger caught my attention. We placed our order at the counter by the bar, then waited for the food to come to our table. After about 15 minutes, the food arrived. The burger was about $20 and came with the burger and chips. We were unsure if chips meany fries or actual potato chips and unfortunately, it was the latter. The smashburger was good. The patties (2) were smashed a bit, but it didn't have much of the signature crispy, caramelized crust. It came with white cheese melted onto the patties, shredded lettuce, tortilla chips, and Baja mac sauce. I wish the brioche buns were toasted and smashed with the patties on the grill but thankfully the bread was soft and tasted fresh. There was a good amount of mac sauce, to help glue everything together. To my surprise, the tortilla chips were my favorite part. They added texture and slightly more salt. I had a bite of my friends fried white fish tacos but they were a little too fishy for me. I would recommend this place for the vibes and especially for large groups looking for a place to eat and have a good time. They don't accept reservations, but it seems like people are coming in and out constantly, so tables are usually available. They do have a moderate-sized parking lot (free of charge) in the back and when we were they, they had someone ushering cars to empty spots.

The stage sound is picked up by microphones and routed to the overhead PA system. So the sound in the front row is beyond you. Under the stage, in front of the stage is where the bass (sub woofers) are placed instead of one on each side of the stage. So all the front row hears is a thumping throughout the concert. I've brought this to the attention of the sound engineers at Blue Ocean and they never admit they have an issue. Other people have complained about this issue for years. The overhead speakers are placed on the structural post that hold the roof up so that's where they placed them. Bad placement because the speakers sound is actually bypassing your ears. After you listen to a couple of songs by the band, get up and walk towards the back of the room and you'll suddenly hear what you're missing in the front row. I sat in the front row, center table to see the Aerosmith tribute band called, Draw The Line. I could see their lips moving but I couldn't hear their vocals because the sound was behind me. It's annoying because you figure the front row should be the best seats.
