Whether you're a beginner who doesn't know wire from sheet, or an experienced 'smith looking to pick up new skills, THIS IS THE PLACE for you. Set on wooded acreage in the lovely, historic town of Hillsborough, you will love the camaraderie with like-minded learners, and the openness and sharing of the instructors during the monthly weekend workshops covering a variety of Metalsmithing topics that range from etching to fabrication to enameling and more. Got skills, but no place to work? OQZO has you covered with affordable open studio times. If your toolbox is empty, you can fill it up at Oqzo - many of the tools are available for sale. (I am not aware of any other place in the state of NC that sells Metalsmithing tools, so this is an excellent resource!) Check out the website and sign up for a workshop. Class sizes are deliberately kept small, so everyone has room to work, and gets plenty of individual attention from the instructor. If you're looking for a great place to work, check it out!

All of the work stations have their own bench with tools and equipment within arm's reach as well as ample lighting throughout the spacious and airy studio. It was very easy to stay working since you had everything you needed at your station(s) instead of waiting in line to get to the next step of the jewelry making project's process. Both Lynn (and Terry) and the guest instructor were very helpful during the workshop. Demonstrations of the technique we were learning could be seen at the teacher's jewelry bench or overhead on a screen which I found very convenient. If you want a day or more of whimsy in a lovely setting to create - this is the place! Lynn teaches a variety of jewelry classes and also has workshops with guest instructors that are also very accomplished. The studio is perfect for beginners and master metalsmiths alike..there is always something new to learn in the field of jewelry making and she is prepared with exactly what you need to make it. I am definitely coming back.

We attended the Summer Vegetarian class. Kate gave a brief intro to what each station entailed, and you could pick one that you wanted to work on. Kate and her assistant would walk around and help as needed, and call everyone over at certain parts to show how things were being prepared or cooked. Most of the food she was as using she had bought at the farmers market. We had some appetizers while finishing up the cooking, and at the end we all sat together in the dining room for a full meal. All of the food was delicious! Kate sends the recipes out via email after the class. I will definitely be trying some of them out at home, and looking to take a class in the future. Don't expect to master any of the recipes during this class, but you will gain some tips and come away with a full belly and some new recipes. You can bring your own beer and wine, and she also provided water and lemonade for us. Our class ran about 30 minutes over, so depending on how many dishes she has planned be prepared for class to go a little longer.

Classes are out of her home in a residential area, so follow the directions she sends you. She had done most of the prep work, showed us each recipe, and then let all of the participants wash their hands and get to work. Everyone wore a mask, and outdoor seating was available for anyone not comfortable dining indoors just. We got to rotate through various stations and Katie did some of the more intensive cooking, like the deep frying. She was very helpful with tips and checking to see how everyone was doing. After everything was cooked, we sat down to eat. Boy, there was a lot, and everything was delicious! We made gnocchi, pierogies, momos, potstickers, samosas, and apple dumplings. Water was provided and you can BYOB if you like. It did take a little bit longer than scheduled but not too much so. She followed up a few days later by emailing the recipes to us. A great experience for foodies!

It was such a fun class where they walk you step-by-step on how to make your own rug. Before the class, you'll send in your design and color requests. They'll let you know if your design is too hard for a beginner level class. It was a fun class and quite challenging. You do have to stand while you tuft which makes you more tired especially after a few hours, so dress for comfort and breath lability as you might get hot! You can bring snacks and something to drink but keep in mind it's a small space. Once you're all done, they'll take your rug to be finished. Takes about two weeks before it's done for either pick-up or they can also mail it to you. Definitely a good idea for a date night, birthday activity, or just a fun activity with your friends or solo. Almost forgot - they also offer classes in the CLT area as well!

While out at dinner approximately an hour and a half before the class was scheduled to start, I happened to check my email and saw the class was cancelled. Angela asked for dates we could attend a makeup class and I quickly gave her one that would potentially work. After looking at the dates I quickly emailed her back and told her that wouldn't work and asked for a refund. She told me per her written policy there were no refunds (even when she was the one cancelling the class) but she would give me a take home kit. I quickly replied with the colors for my kits per her request. After that time I've hardly been able to get a reply from her and haven't gotten a single reply in over a month. This has been going on for two months now. I've sent countless emails and reached out on social media and have gotten no response from her. I've grown incredibly frustrated as I'm owed almost $200 and she will not reply. I hate to leave a negative review for anyone but this is incredibly unprofessional to cancel a class last minute and not offer an exception to your cancellation policy or at least reply to a costumer when they are trying to see when they can pick up a take home kit.
