They feature several artists and craftspersons, a woodworker, some CBD products, and a haberdasher who sells original bowties. This time of year, they have various Christmas-related items. On our last trip, we did peruse some of the holiday items and purchased a very nice handmade card. I will definitely support local artists and crafstspeople ahead of the mall or places that sell mass-produced items made cheaply overseas.

Molly is a talented and experienced artist, primarily in oil and acrylic. They had invited about a dozen or so people from around CLT Region who came into town to see her and James since they live in NH. It was an interesting evening because it started raining hard just about 7p as the event was getting in gear. I'm sure it deterred quite a few from attending. There are two floors with other 'artist in residence' so it was a lively and diverse Friday crowd. I did make it 'upstairs' to meet Caitlin Cary, a local artist who has a studio there. Some may know here as vocalist/violin player with Ryan Adams formerly of the band Whiskeytown.

There was a woman working in there who barely acknowledged my presence and every time I would move to look at different art, she would oddly stare at me. A couple (white woman and man) came in after me and she greeted them and even offered to show them around which made me, a black man, feel very uncomfortable. I eventually approached her to ask about pricing on a particular piece and her tone was very short and very different than the tone she had with other guests. I knew that moving to the south would be different, but I read that Durham was very liberal so I was shocked to be treated in such a manner. I left without buying anything because I refuse to spend money in a place where I feel I am unwanted. This was a horrid experience. If you're not white, I highly recommend NOT coming here!

So when I am in a new area of a town, I google "art supplies" and pray for some relief from the tyranny of plastic and cake decorating, scrapbook paper and seasonal driftwood. So I found ArtPost in an unexpected place. A small dwelling type storefront with funky painted blue building and two doors... take the left. Inside you will find traditional and some on trend art supplies packed inside the small space like a european counterpart. If you are an artist or craftsperson, I don't believe you will be able to leave without something. p.s. they have some of the coolest japanese brush tip pens.

I have used them twice now for private classes/team building projects and both time they were phenomenal. For far less money than what other chain art-creation-team-building-events asked, Art Post created a custom activity for our group and created a laid-back atmosphere that encouraged creativity but also socializing. I also observed a class with younger children and the teacher was patient and also encouraging of creativity with the kids. Overall, I was very impressed with their community outreach and artistic philosophy. They also host some really great outdoor markets on the weekend where you can find lots of great local art and music!

Our wonderful daughter gave my wife a birthday gift of having all of us do a Stained Glass class!…read more Since it was on May 4th it was Star Wars themed! May the Force be With You ! Each one of our group of 5 picked out ahead of time which Star Wars character we wanted to create. Your choices were a Light Saber, Darth Vader, Grogu (Baby Yoda), or Boba Fett. Then when we arrived at class the pieces for each character were beautifully pre-cut by Sarah and ready to assemble. The assembly process involved several steps including cleaning the glass first, then applying metal tape, then soldering, cleaning, etc. Lila was our wonderful and very patient instructor and she was awesome ! She provided safety gloves and explained everything to all of us first timers doing this and answered any and all questions. When needed she provided hands on assistance to make sure everyone's piece came out great ! There was no rushing, great music playing in the background, lots of fun and overall a really great time! We definitely plan on returning for future arts and crafts classes at this great place and people!

There were small groups of friends doing crafts together, a big group crafting for someone's birthday party (they brought cookies and cake and two humongous pizzas; this place allows you to bring your own food and snacks which is so cool!), and an outdoor area in back as well where my group and I hung out. They have feminine hygiene products available in the restroom for those who are in need. They've also got a jar of gigantic Kirkland dog biscuits which I didn't know existed but my dog absolutely loved them so thank you crafts and drafts! Definitely recommend this place as a fun and chill spot to hang out with friends.

It was very fun to try and we spent about 3 hours working on our crafts. We used the stencils, wood burning tool, paint, and colored pencils for our creations. They were super open to let us taste any beers we wanted to try before making our selection. They had 8 beers on tap and then a lot of canned beers and other drinks available as well. The instructor is an exceptionally talented artist, but what stood out even more was her ability to teach with patience, clarity, and presence. Her instruction created a calm, focused environment where it was easy to slow down, breathe, and simply be in the process of making art. Each class felt like a meditative respite. For a few hours, I was able to step out of the stress of life and reconnect with creativity, observation, and a sense of inner quiet. That is a rare and meaningful gift. The space itself is welcoming and supportive, and you can feel the care that goes into both the teaching and the environment. I'm deeply grateful for this experience and would highly recommend this art space to anyone looking not only to grow their skills, but to find a peaceful, restorative creative community.
