My partner and I were pleasantly surprised at how lovely the Duke campus was. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for a nice fall stroll and enjoyed every bit of it. The architecture is amazing, our favorite being the chapel. In addition, this is a great university for academics and careers. We recommend visiting.

This was a really beautiful campus and we got to visit the basketball arena football arena walk up and down see those statues and all the things they had to offer. We had a really good time here we just paid the park walked around and explored and we had a good time.

Duke is a great university. I love seeing all the diversity on the campus - in terms of race as well as people's interests/study. The students are very driven and work hard, but not lacking a social scene either. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and social outings for the students in and around the campus. I had a chance to visit the campus while helping my niece move back in, after being home for almost a year thanks to the pandemic. I was truly impressed with the campus grounds, architecture, buildings, gardens, and overall amenities offered to the students to balance their campus life. The main chapel was full of history and a site to see. The dining hall was insane and truly made me jealous of the offerings provided to students, in comparison to my college days that's for sure. lol. The athletic campus was first rate. And, one of the highlights when visiting here is the Sarah P. Dukes Gardens. This place is amazing and a must see! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here and highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Offering spectacular medical service to my family the community state & international communities - respectful thoughtful service- it may take a few visits to get proper diagnosis and treatment but it will come. Keeping in mind this is a teaching hospital. Kudos to this great institution!

I'm not a big fan of elite institutions of higher learning in the US -- especially those built on the backs of slavery, big tobacco and the Confederacy. IMO -- some such places are often exclusionary snobatoriums that service the very wealthy (did someone say Lori Laughlin?) or some mythical demographic that does not represent most everyone else. The perception is that they empower entrenched elites so they can stay entrenched. Ok -- that bias out front -- I liked Duke very much -- after spending a parents weekend there with my stepson - and roaming the campus with his Mom. I respect the fact that despite his modest roots, my stepson earned his way into Duke with his keen intellect and hard work. We didn't do sporting events or classes during our trip - just walked the grounds and checked out the dorms so Mom could see how junior was fending for himself. By all accounts -- he is doing quite well. This sprawling campus has much to offer those students seeking careers in medicine and law -- for which it is highly regarded. I suppose that regardless of your background and course of study, a degree from Duke on your resume can only help jumpstart a fine career. The campus has an Ivy League feel -- even though it technically isn't -- with a certain southern charm that is easy to embrace. Staff is friendly and accommodating and transportation from one end of the campus to the other is easy with free shuttle buses. The Sarah P. Duke gardens are a wonderment. Rated one the the 10 best in the nation -- you can spend days admiring the brilliant landscaping and the spectacular plantings. The Nasher museum is interesting -- contemporary and classic art exhibits are juxtaposed -- with an emphasis on contemporary. You can see it all in an hour -- or spend a day there if you really want to "get into" stuff. The West campus is home to an impressive "chapel" which reads more like a gothic cathedral -- and serves as the final resting place to the Dukes who endowed this university in the late 19th century -- known then as Trinity College -- later renamed for the Duke family in the 1920's. I kept thinking about Eddie Murphy in "Trading Places" -- while here. In that movie, the "Duke" brothers were fictional scions of wealth -- sharing some fraternity with the founders of this university, whose great wealth came from sketchy places too -- like big tobacco and big business during the Confederacy. Top Tip: Access to the university is free - but parking is not. Some of the activities (like the museum) will set you back a few bucks. For sporting events like Division 1 basketball games -- expect to spend considerably more.

Beautiful campus. The buildings do have a Hogwarts feel with the architecture and brick/stone walls. We drove by just to check it out and gave ourselves a tour. We were able to walk into the majestic chapel and somehow made it into the basketball museum - connected to Cameron stadium - where all the trophies were displayed. Definitely a place that's normally locked but somehow the door was not completely shut. We walked innocently and spent about 10 minutes admiring all the athletics trophies. Very cool experience waking the campus but happening upon the trophy room was definitely a level up.

My 300th review must be on Duke. It MUST! My whole trip to Durham was because I had a grad school interview at this gorgeous university... and maannnn is it gorgeous. So many people have compared it to Hogwarts, and they ain't wrong. You will drive towards Duke, and be within the forests of these tall, lush, mossy trees, and all the sudden you're in a fairy tale land. This place is a gem in the forest. The architecture is spectacular, and you seriously do feel like all the sudden you're Harry Potter. At Hogwarts. Surrounded by the Forbidden Forest. #love I was able to spend some time walking around the campus (okay crutching around) and trying to get a feel of the place. I stumbled into their annual 31% off sale at the University Bookstore (on 10/31), and of course had to spend some time and money there. I made sure to check out the student center after the bookstore, and I walked around Duke Chapel and some of the surrounding buildings...and was completely hypnotized. The old buildings are unimaginable, as are the new, breathtaking ones. Since my walking ability wasn't great this trip, I made sure to spend time driving around the campus, the hospital, and the outskirts of the gardens (which look amazing and you should totally stop in and tell me all about it). It looks like there are multiple walking trails throughout the campus, with emergency help machines if necessary. I wish I could have explored on these more. Students on campus genuinely look happy to be here. I have never seen more collegiate apparel on a campus. You can feel the energy, and the people are super nice. Check out this campus!! Be a wizard, Harry!

My 500th review is happily dedicated to Duke University This is the most beautiful quintessential college campus I've ever been to and my genius son just graduated so I'm a proud mommy!! Duke is a happy place and anyone who is smart enough to attend AND graduate is STELLAR and will succeed in life. The campus architecture is magical in a Hogwarts gothic way. The professors and staff is extremely supportive and nurturing. The classes are relatively small, depending on your major. Everything about Duke is phenomenal!! Graduation 2019 was so beautiful and extremely organized! I hope he wants to attend grad school here!! Awesome in every way!!

Beautiful campus that spans over 8,600 acres. The campus is divided into four main areas: West, East, and Central campuses and the Medical Center, which are all connected via a free bus service (bus stops and times are online) Lots of sidewalks and paths for biking and walking through out the campus. The West Campus buildings have a Collegiate Gothic architecture style. The slate like, igneous stone for these buildings are from a quarry in Hillsborough NC, different shades of blue-gray to a burnt sienna and ochre gives a unique look to the campus. Look for the Gothic gargoyles hidden on some of the buildings! Must see attractions our the Sarah P Duke Gardens, Duke chapel and Cameron indoor Stadium. Sarah P Duke Gardens is about 55 acres on a rolling land, that is open daily from 8 am till dusk. So many flowers and plants cover this area with trails and paths to enjoy. Beautiful terrace area with plenty of benches to sit and watch the wild life in the coy pond or the pond. Perfect views from the bridge over the pond. Also make sure you visit the rose garden. The Duke chapel can be a little intimidating. With The James Buchanan Duke Statue out front to the dark Gothic style inside. But the 210 foot bell tower is very impressive, I got the rare opportunity to climb the many steps in the winding staircase to the roof top. Amazing views from the rooftop. Stained-glass windows are colorful in the main Interior. Look for the two wooden church mice hidden throughout the Chapel. Cameron Indoor Stadium is small and cozy. Only holding 9,314 people for sporting events. But don't let that fool you, it gets loud and warm in here! Upstairs is the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame, trophy displays, interactive videos and memorabilia. Also a great view of the tent city known as Krzyzewskiville. Hours are from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, with weekend hours around home football and basketball games.

One of the more picturesque campuses in the country. Beautiful architecture, Duke chapel, the gardens, Cameron indoor and tons of new buliding going on including a new Medical school and some serious additions to the Medical center. The libraries on campus all offer a unique charm and they've added a number of coffee shops that make studying even more caffinated! A beautiful afternoon walk and a great place to people watch if you've got a chance. Love the local vendors that reside near the student union building and west campus fields are great for intramural sports. Overall, an incredible place!

For runners, Duke East Campus is an ideal spot for short distance. Sitting right about 1.7 miles…read morearound the loop, the trail is gravel, about half shaded, half sun and has gradual slopes throughout. You right parallel to the road the whole way round, so there's lots to look at and keep you engaged. There's always plenty of people on the trail, walking, running, taking their dogs on a jog or having a family outing. Since you're always in the sight of traffic and there's almost always a handful of people around, this trail is definitely one of the safer spots in Durham. There's a couple places where there are large roots in the ground and a handful of vehicle entrances that you should be aware of. The downsides are no bathrooms or water fountains (although there's a Whole Foods along the path, so if it's an emergency, I'd recommend running there stat!) Parking is available inside the campus or in the neighborhoods that line the campus. If you're not into running, there are also tennis courts on Duke East, free to play and lighted (there are certain hours, mostly during the day, when the courts are reserved for practice). If you're a beginning runner, this is a great trail to start out on.
