The students are very driven and work hard, but not lacking a social scene either. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and social outings for the students in and around the campus. I had a chance to visit the campus while helping my niece move back in, after being home for almost a year thanks to the pandemic. I was truly impressed with the campus grounds, architecture, buildings, gardens, and overall amenities offered to the students to balance their campus life. The main chapel was full of history and a site to see. The dining hall was insane and truly made me jealous of the offerings provided to students, in comparison to my college days that's for sure. lol. The athletic campus was first rate. And, one of the highlights when visiting here is the Sarah P. Dukes Gardens. This place is amazing and a must see! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here and highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

The grounds consisted of native plants, lush trees, magnolias, open green spaces with benches for resting and incredible buildings of Gothic architecture. As someone who has been a young professional since 2011, the cost of the classes didn't break my bank, $72/credit. They offer classes for every persons needs, and as a working professional while taking classes at DTCC, I was able to take three classes during the semester while working full time and not feel overwhelmed (I did study my ass off, don't get me wrong, but was still able to enjoy a social life). During my year stint at DTCC I took A&P I and II, Statistic and Sociology (online). Out of those classes, only one of the professors would I recommend, one I would say was okay, and the other three I would not recommend unless you're looking to only self-educate yourself. While most of the professors were easy to get hold of, some seemed every unaware of what was going on within the rest of the school community, didn't know class policies. In addition, a couple times I tried to reach out to the heads of certain departments and never received responses. I would study often in the library, although as far as school material and resources, it was definitely lacking. In addition, students as only allowed to print 10 black and white copies out a day. Another very frustrating issue about DTCC was the enrollment, ID, etc process. It was hard to get answers as a transferring student enjoying to take a handful of classes and I had to follow-up and constantly call to discover answers. I even took some lunch breaks where I went into the school just to wait in line to try to get questions answered. Wait times are insane as you get closer to the semester and each staff person you interact with will either be friendly and helpful or make you want to yell at them to quit their job and find something that makes them happy. I swear one of the most unpleasant ladies I've ever met works in parking permits/IDs, was hateful, grumpy and very unhelpful to me as a student. The unfortunate part is her job is seemingly simple and she could make a students experience so positive, yet she chooses to call students out, tell them they aren't doing anything right yet not pointing them in the correct direction. It was very intimidating waiting for her to call me up to the counter after a thirty minute wait and watching countless students being ridiculed and sent away because Durham Tech doesn't have a policy in place to teach students how things should be done. Overall, my experience at Durham Tech was a necessary evil. If you can get through the admissions part just be ready to study and teach yourself materials. I've got to pay, Professor John Stauble was one of the best teachers I've ever had, throughout my entire undergrad and post experience. If you have the chance to take him, you will learn a great deal. He encourages students to discover their most beneficial study habits and really made me feel like an individual student in a room of 25-30 peers. So there's a give and take at DTCC, out of five professors, one was stellar and the other were okay to terrible. Unfortunately, if you're looking to go back to school while working full time and not make a huge dent in your bank, DTCC is really the only in class option available in the Durham, so you'll just have to make your own choice.

No, UNC isn't perfect, but I'm giving it five stars on Yelp because, objectively speaking, it's…read morestill a great school and one of the biggest and most-recognized brands when it comes to universities (academics) and college athletics. There's no denying that. I have an interesting relationship with UNC. I was born and raised in High Point, North Carolina. My parents went to Wake, so I grew up a Demon Deacon fan. I was in the minority, starting in elementary school, because most of the other kids cheered for Carolina and Duke. In middle school, I became a member of the ABC Club - Anybody But Carolina. A lot of my high school friends and classmates went on to attend UNC. I went to Georgia Tech and settled in Atlanta. Fast-forward about 15 years and my wife matched into her ophthalmology residency at UNC. We moved away from Atlanta and spent the last four years of our lives in Chapel Hill, so my wife could slave away as a resident physician for UNC Health. For her, it was the most difficult and grueling years of her life. For me, I used it as an opportunity to explore Chapel Hill - mainly the businesses on and around Franklin Street - and go to Carolina men's basketball and football games when they played Georgia Tech. As expected, we beat Carolina in football, even when they were ranked and favored, and lost to Carolina in basketball. It was a lot of fun to attend the games at Kenan Stadium and the Dean Dome. I do have to mention I was at the last men's basketball game between Tech and Carolina on January 30, 2024 in Atlanta. Tech upset Carolina, then ranked No. 3 in the country, 74-73. UNC has a beautiful campus and the Town of Chapel Hill is a great college town. Generally speaking, in this regard, I think UNC is a model university for the classic American college experience. It seems to have it all and is more well rounded than, say, Georgia Tech, which is heavily research and engineering focused (not as typical a college experience, in my opinion). After spending four years in Chapel Hill and getting to know a part of the UNC community, mainly through my wife's program, I've softened on Carolina. I do admit I was very proud of my wife as soon as I learned that she matched into UNC's ophthalmology residency (Kittner Eye Center). Funny enough though, my wife still rooted for Georgia Tech over North Carolina and still does to this day. I successfully brainwashed her. Aside from certain things related to her work - much due to the broken US healthcare system, not necessarily specific to UNC or UNC Health - we leave UNC with nothing but good memories.

The campus was gorgeous and made for a lovely evening stroll. The book store is awesome as well. I know this university is top notch for academics too. Make sure to visit.

I love everything about UMO! I was able to obtain a solid education and network with some amazing…read morepeople. Everything is extremely accelerated but, ultimately the student has control. They have a great mix of online and seated classes. Students have the opportunity to tailor a schedule to their needs. I was able to complete a 4 year program in just under 3 years by completing summer courses and doubling up during the school year. The professors range from professionals working in the field to PhD level scholars. I'm extremely grateful to have found this program.

Once you attend the class you can't drop it and some of the instructors are very RUDE. If you fail the class that you cannot drop, you lose your financial aid so please be warned. Take your time and look at other options prior to signing up for this school. Classes are way too accelerated and you will not get a quality education for what you are paying. For $395 a credit hour I really thought it would have been better quality.

The singing, the comedic aspects portrayed so well, the lines; everything! We had a great time. For runners, Duke East Campus is an ideal spot for short distance. Sitting right about 1.7 miles…read morearound the loop, the trail is gravel, about half shaded, half sun and has gradual slopes throughout. You right parallel to the road the whole way round, so there's lots to look at and keep you engaged. There's always plenty of people on the trail, walking, running, taking their dogs on a jog or having a family outing. Since you're always in the sight of traffic and there's almost always a handful of people around, this trail is definitely one of the safer spots in Durham. There's a couple places where there are large roots in the ground and a handful of vehicle entrances that you should be aware of. The downsides are no bathrooms or water fountains (although there's a Whole Foods along the path, so if it's an emergency, I'd recommend running there stat!) Parking is available inside the campus or in the neighborhoods that line the campus. If you're not into running, there are also tennis courts on Duke East, free to play and lighted (there are certain hours, mostly during the day, when the courts are reserved for practice). If you're a beginning runner, this is a great trail to start out on.
