I took my wife and two kids here on a Friday night a few weeks ago for the first time. A friend of mine recommended it to me. I must say that guy gave some great advice. We were planning on just ordering everyone a cone with a scoop or two but then we saw these awesome sundaes. We ordered the Oreo Boat Sundae for the 4 of us to share. To be fair the four us included a seven year old boy, my wife, my one and half year old daughter and me but the Oreo boat was more than enough to feed all of us. So, big bang for your buck. The ice cream was smooth and creamy and the toppings really hit the spot. This a great little spot that has very friendly staff. Has a great outside seating area with a playground that my kids really enjoyed. We will be making frequent stops to the Carolina Cone. Great place to take the family for a frozen treat. read more

Stopped by Carolina Cones on my way home from the Y (shhhhhh don't tell!). Actually, I purchased ice cream for the little one but I did have a taste. She had a cotton candy and oreo cone in a cup. Needless to say, she was excited. I tasted the cotton candy and yes, it tasted like the gooey treat you often get at Carowinds or a street fair. It was pretty tasty. I will have to make a special trip to Carolina Cones when I am not visiting the gym. The place has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. I suppose on a weekend evening, it may get pretty crowded. read more

Can't say enough about this place. The coin operated kiddy rides, the playground, the Bimini Rings, the train running on the track around the inside of the shop, the great attitude of everyone there, the seasonal garden center (don't miss the fairy garden room!), this place is just awesome and we really enjoy taking family and friends, or just stopping by as we roll through. read more

Very disappointing. Asked for a chocolate soft serve cone. I received a vanilla cone with supposed chocolate drizzle. The young man put his thumb through the cone which made the ice cream run down my hand. Overpriced for the product they delivered. read more

What a delightful treat to have found this! I've driven by for years but never stopped in until yesterday. My mom is in a nursing home down the street and the one thing she's been craving is cherry ice cream. I've been searching high and low but my search is over! Really good ice cream. Never icy. Has a good selection of flavors. Sundaes. Milkshakes. And a train that cruises around the ceiling. Outside there is a broken mini-carousel and a small playground. This place has been around for awhile and a good alternative to the more expensive Ben and Jerry's down the street. One issue I have is the prices have been steadily going up. However, the lines have not been going down. Still enjoyable. read more

This is my favorite ice cream shop in the ENTIRE world.I am a little biased. My first job was at Carolina Cones in the late 1990's. I have since lived in Alaska and Seattle and traveled all over the word. I still haven't found a place as good! The portions are very generous and it is a great value. A great local ice cream spot. We hadn't been in a while, and I forgot that the size of the scoops are so large! They are very generous in their portions. Better yet, they have a flavor that is very similar to Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby. (Vanilla ice cream, chocolate covered, PB pretzels). This is my favorite ice cream place in the Charlotte Area. It has amazing hand dipped cones with the most creative flavors (peanut butter pretzel is my favorite with the chocolate covered pretzels!) but every flavor here I've had is truly sublime!! It's well priced too I can get a chocolate waffle cones and two big scoops in it of different flavors for just under $5 which is unheard of at other places in Charlotte. I'm moving out of state but this place with the train around the ceiling, a kids playground and a gazebo out front is surely worth a visit every Carolina summers day! Please go and enjoy! read more
