I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I were excited to try it, especially with all the new downtown renovations we were hoping to find our go-to ice cream spot. The shop itself is adorable, the staff is friendly, and the overall experience is great. But unfortunately, the star of the show, the ice cream fell short for us. While the texture was nice and creamy, the flavors just didn't deliver. My cherry and peach scoops had barely a piece or two of fruit, and the flavor was very mild, almost nonexistent. I shared my thoughts with a local friend and, without prompting, they described the exact same experience. We're rooting for this place and really hope they make some tweaks to their recipes. A bit more flavor and a few more mix-ins could make a world of difference. We'd love to see them succeed and become a long-term part of the downtown scene. read more

Located in downtown Concord, this little ice cream shop serves large quantities of ice cream. Classic ice cream shop vibes with art work showing the different flavors they have or have offered in the past. All of their ice cream is made in house and you can taste the quality. The employees don't fill the cup to the top of the cop, they try to pile a mountain of ice cream. I got the "Single" cup and it was big enough to feed three people easily (in my opinion). Feeling a little anxious before a job interview and needed a calmative that wouldn't reflect badly on my character: showing up with MoonPie-breath could seem frivolous, cherried ice cream on a cake cone was a much safer choice by far. Didn't have to wait long for the magic to happen; fear and loathing melting away like cool creamy goodness on a too-warm and sunny spring afternoon. Icy cream does a body good. The cost:benefit ratio could easily lead to overindulgence but try to remember that nobody looks good passed out on a park bench in chocolate-stained chinos with jimmies stuck in their ironic reverse-soul patch. read more

Despite the fact that I'm only just now getting to this review The Cabarrus Creamery is a place I've been to many, many times over the last 10 years. Pretty much the only difference from when I would visit back in high school is that the shop attached to the back of the building used to be an art gallery and now it's a crossfit gym. (A little ironic if you ask me.) This place is small, straight forward, and what they do they do well. They've been open since 1923 and from what I can tell they've kept that home town ice cream shop feel the whole time. Two long cases of ice cream make up the front counter, complete with windows to view your choice of around 25 flavors. They have a more traditional menu on the back wall, but there's a huge, colorful, hand drawn one that takes up the entire right side as you walk in. Two different kinds of cones, four sizes of cups, options for milkshakes and sundaes, and of course toppings galore. I usually go for a mint chocolate chip or cookie dough cup myself, but I've tried plenty of flavors and never been disappointed. The staff is great too, always attentive and happy to help. You know now that i think about it one other thing has changed, they accept credit cards now! They used to be cash only and I can only think of two ATM's in downtown Concord. Simple change, big improvement. The ice cream is delicious and the prices are pretty good too. It's a local hot spot for a reason, certainly worth a visit. read more

This place has been around for a long time. I used to come here after girl scouts when I was a kid and after doing research at the library as a college student. I used to carry cash with me just in case I got a craving. Now they have square, so I don't have to worry about whether I have cash or not. Their main flavors taste the same as they did back then. My favorite is mint chocolate chip. The mint ice cream is so bright and green that in a certain light, it glows. The chips are the thin square kind that don't break a tooth when you chew, and they aren't chunky so they don't break up the texture of the ice cream like other places' versions. The mint isn't ridiculously strong and you can still taste the sweet creamy base. It works well with other flavors so I wouldn't worry about putting it with others. As a kid I used to order the double now as an adult I order the kiddie. Their portions are pretty large for the price that you pay. And it is always wonderful reason to go to Downtown Concord. read more

I decided to try this place out since I was in the area and wanted something sweet, I'm glad I stopped in because I was very pleased. They had a good selection of ice cream and toppings, I tried the apple pie and banana pudding and did t need to try anything else, I was sold on those two flavors. We took the long way home from the Lazy 7 Ranch and found ourselves needing ice cream in Cabarrus. And right on main street, which actually had parking, was Cabarrus Creamery. It reminded me of the ice cream shops of the 1950s and although it might have been something else, the building was redone into a clean, cute little creamery. They have quite a few flavors, might be beating out Baskin Robin's 31 flavors...which they no longer seem to have. What the Cabarrus Creamery does have are a lot of different sized cups for scoops of ice cream. Some are really tiny, like if you have a very young eater or are among the oldsters who just want a little bit. They are graduated sizes up to a three scoop bowl. Of course, there are cones, like waffle and sugar and plain (?). And toppings. They offer sundaes like even banana splits (have not seen those offered lately...and that was THE best treat one could get in the 50s and 60s. You can sit inside, although there are not a lot of tables; but there is a long bench outside along the sidewalk so you can eat, drip and watch the traffic go by. The ice cream is hands down some of the best I have had in my life. Why go to a chain when you can support local shops and business? The chocolate is a deep chocolate flavor without being too sweet. The moon pie is amazing. Pralines and cream will change your life. Cherry Garcia is so good if that is your thing. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is the business. Rocky Road has lots of marshmallows and nuts. They have plenty of sizes and I feel that it is more affordable than those chain ice cream places. Such a great ice cream shop keeping downtown Concord poppin'! Right up to and past closing time there was a line out the door. Still, staff was fully happy to spread the ice cream-eating joy by serving up cold treats to everyone in line. They frankly embraced the opportunity. One guy told me this like it was his dream job. They have tons of flavors and even some seasonal and unusual options and requests. There's a huge chalk board by the line with your choices. The inside looks and feels like an old ice cream parlor. This place was really good. This was my first time to this area and I was glad the ice cream was worth the drive. They have a good selection of ice cream flavors. You can get a cup, cone and even a cookie sandwich. They have sundaes and ice cream splits. If you want a protein shake, they have that too. I got a single scoop of fudge brownie ice cream with a waffle cone. It was really, really good. The ice cream had brownie pieces in it and it was amazing. Went on one of the first warm days of spring and this place was packed! The line was out the door and it took us about 20 minutes to get our ice cream. They have lots of great flavors, wished I didn't feel as rushed to order so that I could have sampled a few of them. Service wasn't too great, I understand that they were very busy that day but I would have appreciated some nicer service. The lady who served us seemed to be upset about something. I got the mint chocolate chip and others in my group got cookie dough, apple pie and banana pudding. We all loved our ice creams and got them in a waffle cone. Perfect day to order some ice cream and take a stroll around downtown Concord. If you're there on a Sunday be aware that many of the shops are closed. My husband and I decided to go to the movies at Concord Mills and since we live around CLT airport area we saw a great opportunity to explore an Ice Cream place in Concord. We picked this one because we read the reviews and saw the pictures and I can tell you, you CAN trust them! I had an ice cream sandwich the was peanut butter cookies and I decided to go with the banana pudding flavor for my ice cream which was really delicious. I also tried the apple pie flavor that tasted just like a pie. I was impressed with the size of the cookies and the amount of the ice cream, it was a lot of both! 2 giant cookies and 4 scoop last of ice cream. The cookie tasted like homemade peanut butter but was a little dried. The price is fair but I am taking one star because it was a little bit messy. The tables and seats had dried Ice cream on them and also the member of the staff that was helping us out was not friendly at all. Overall we had a good experience. read more

"No public restroom" Nice ice cream. They need to change the bathroom policy to saying "for Patrons only." I have no issue with them not wanting people coming off the street and using the bathroom. But what kind of ice cream parlor doesn't wish to offer someone with children a comfortable experience using the toilet? When two signs are informing me that the bathroom is not for my use. Now, yes, I could always ask them if I can use the bathroom. But I don't like the attitude they are portraying that says I, was a paid customer, cannot use the restroom with my children. Not very helpful. Please change your policy and or your signage about the bathroom. read more

We get there and the two working seemed upset while taking our orders . The vibe was obvious. We definitely arrived before closing but hours I don't think were updated on maps. We definitely would not have showed up if we had known the hours were different. Regardless we arrived before closing .
