Recently Carmel valley pharmacy took over the prescription that I used to have compounded by Gelsons Pharmacy. Gelson Pharmacy closed. I was surprised that they charge over 100% more for that particular compounded medicine than Gelson did for a smaller size. I find that to be userous Too much and will find another pharmacies that is in line with what the prescription should cost. In response to the owner, you have me confused with perhaps another customer that was unhappy with your compounding prices. I do not have a husband that you spoke to and I certainly didn't yell at any of your employees (not my style). I accepted the price as I needed the prescription. I have called another compounding pharmacy that quoted Gelson's pricing. read more

I can't say enough great things about this pharmacy! I take a fairly niche medication for narcolepsy and switched to Carmel Valley Pharmacy after Vons and CVS never had it in stock. It's a controlled substance so there are many hoops to jump through with prior authorizations and my doctor needing to be very specific with the doses. Leah, Mercy, and everyone I've ever talked to at Carmel Valley Pharmacy truly advocate for their patients! What a nice welcome to the Carmel Valley community! I attended the grand opening event back in February and had a great time meeting the staff and checking out the goodies for sale at this pretty pharmacy. For the record, I don't plan on getting my prescriptions filled here since my health insurance through Kaiser doesn't allow it . No big deal, but I love, love, love the merchandise they sell at CV Pharmacy since they sell so many cute things that I like and all under one roof. The parking lot in this strip mall is a whole lot tolerable to deal with, so I'm glad they didn't open up in Del Mar Highlands right behind its location or I'd be inclined to go only when I'm in need of a last minute gift. I love the soy candles they sell here. I burn candles often at home because I like our home smelling nice and as crazy as this may sound, it works as a stress reliever when I smell nicely scented candles at home. We bought the strawberry mint soy candle and I love how it makes our bedroom so fragrant. I don't like it when the fragrance is so strong where it gives me a headache, but the soy candles sold here are perfect. My hubby also bought me this pretty, colorful infinity scarf here. I wore it to a Super Bowl Party the next day and received a lot of compliments on it. I plan on returning back soon since Mother's Day will be here before you know it and I can get my sister-in-law one since she really liked mine, lol. They're only twenty dollars too, so it's a good deal for something that's so pretty. Overall, this is a great new pharmacy that I hope will flourish in the coming years.They take pride in their ten minute service to get a prescription filled, so I wouldn't be surprised if more residents living in Carmel Valley and Del Mar move their prescriptions here than going to the local Vons, Rite-Aid and CVS stores. Amazing place. Excellent service. Knowledgeable staff. Any place that cares for its customers - gets a 5 star. The folks were able to special order my vitamins supply and ping me when it arrived a couple of days later. If you have been using pharmacy chains like RiteAid, CVS et al, I suggest that you try this place out. You will love the experience. RiteAid and CVS missed my refill schedules often and blamed it on my doctor's office. It used to take me more than a couple of visits to CVS to get my refills. Not so at Carmel Valley Pharmacy. You get a call a week in advance of the refill due date, to get a confirmation. A couple of days later, you get a call that it is ready. Pricing: I marked it inexpensive to mean "i don't care a whole lot'. I am sure for most things, you can find a cheaper option on the net; not necessarily a better one. So... YMMV. read more

This is hands down the best pharmacy I have been to in San Diego. It reminds me of the country pharmacy that I would go to when growing up. I take a drug that is quite rare and therefore you may have to wait a day for them to get it in for your initial prescription, however after that they will likely have it in stock for you when your prescription needs re-filling. That has certainly been my experience. When you go in to fill a normal prescription your wait will only be 10 minutes. Nothing like CVS making you wait an hour. I can't recommend this pharmacy highly enough. Their customer service is second to none. read more

So I decided to ask them to send it somewhere else and it was the opposite experience. Everyone was nice and efficient and communicated with me. Once you use this great little pharmacy you'll never want to go back to RiteAid or Walmart for your medication. The entire staff are extremely well-trained and always professional while simultaneously treating you like family. My child takes a variety of medication for his mental health condition. Beware of this horrible business: they gave me the item containing the non-prescription ingredient I can't tolerate/severely allergic to, despite me telling them multiple times it can't be included. I drove long way to pick up the item and only discovered the error when I got back - I'd be VERY ill if I used it. They did not apologize and only offered to prepare replacement with me paying full price minus $10. $10 is now these dishonest people who shouldn't be in business value an hour of your time. I'll be filing complaint against them with the state and my insurance; they should not be allowed to defraud people. read more

After standing in the pharmacy line at Vons for more than 10 minutes, with no progress toward the counter, I decided I was done with the big pharmacies. I decided to switch over to this pharmacy mainly because I was tired of long lines, waiting times and the ball being dropped on getting my prescriptions several times at CVS. Consumer Reports ran an article and survey results about pharmacies, and I've been looking for a mom and pop place ever since. Now I have none of the above problems. The pharmacists are very knowledgeable, much more helpful than at CVS, even with finding better prices. They are a compounding pharmacy, which is a plus, too.
