When it came time for me to trade in my 72k mile Infiniti G37x Coupe and switch up to another AWD vehicle, this time a Nissan Murano...I found plenty to choose from in all trim levels in near new condition. I hated to part with my 330 HP little speed demon Infiniti G, but it was time! CarMax gave me a great deal on the trade-in and excellent financing on the Murano. Steve Southall was the salesman and he made the whole process easy, quick, and simple from start to finish! I spent more time on the lot looking than I did with him! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous, even though I was a little anxious and a bit amped up as I usually get when making ANY new or used car purchase (It's not like you make a big purchase like this every day! LOL!) Unlike other big-name used car dealers, there was NO pressure to purchase their warranty, plus they give you plenty of time to shop in their lot - no one approaches you until you go inside to inquire about a vehicle. All was good initially. I bought my 2021 Chevy Spark online Aug 6, 2024. Two days later the car turned off in the middle of an Atlantic City street. I had to have it towed back to Turnersville (a four hour situation) and wait 2-4 days for them to replace the battery and the alternator, with a year's warranty. All good until around April 14, 2025 (only 8 months later) when the car wouldn't start, and it turned out that it needed a new starter. I called to question how this could occur in less than a year with a 4-year-old vehicle, and was told by a "service manager" that there was nothing that they could do when I told them I believed I was sold a lemon. Not to mention they were speaking with an older female. Also at the dealership, mistakes were made, like giving me the wrong phone and account number for roadside assistance and MaxCare (extended warranty) as well as the fact that the total milage allowed is 100,000 miles total, not 100,000 after the current milage. I have purchased many used vehicles from dealerships in the past, and never had an experience like this before...never again. read more

I am SURPRISED THAT I AM GIVING A STELLAR REVIEW!.... I am a worry wart, OCD person by nature and I have not bought a used vehicle since my first car in 1978. With the way inflated prices are, I found it ridiculous to pay full price for the Toyota's Highlander Hybrid XLE which I wanted, so I decided to try Carmax. I reserved the car and paid $99 transport. Upon arrival, I noticed a few minor flaws that I picked up on inspection. Tha car drove beautifully, 2022 with 29,000 miles. I expressed my concern over the flaws and they were gracious and worked with me on the matter,( I will leave it at that, wink, wink).....An appointment was scheduled to fix 3 things, a loaner car was given to me, it literally took less than 60 seconds for me to drop off my car and pick up the loaner and head home no hassle....amazing.....24 hours later, I got a call and my vehicle was ready!......the whole process was easy, I am not big on doing things on the computer, but everything moved swiftly....my only concern is, I wish there was a way to get in contact with a human being asap if needed. Overall, I am very satisfied at the ease of this transaction and the service with Carmax and all of its associates at 100%......side note, 1 year ago, I went to purchase same vehicle , NEW AT TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS...,what a nightmare , penny, nickel and diming salesmen.....I'm glad I waited till this year, and I also got top dollar for my trade compared to the actual Toyota dealerships.....So Happy I found Carmax! read more

If i could give it zero stars i would. This car was a surprise gift for me. 1st they deleted our order so they had to run the credit twice, we paid for rapid service and it was NOT rapid. We were told that their detailing department was out so they couldn't clean it, steering wheel was not straight meaning the alignment is off and the AC isn't working although the compressor is on and has freon. They sent us to a mechanic that told us that they couldn't find the AC leak and that most likely it has an electrical issue. Back at CARMAX we report what was told to us and they said that we had to wait for their service department to come in so that we can see what can be done. They wouldn't give us a loaner although the AC isn't working and that week it was 90 degrees (told that at least the weekend would be nice), That they no longer detail the cars because its to expensive that they only clean the outside of the car. When asked "so you basically give people dirty cars? i got a yes. So we know that we got a car that was never disinfected also was never properly cleaned because it had caked on dirty and dries spider webs, and all sorts of disgusting dirty everywhere. Have the pictures to prove it but they didn't want to hear any of it. I'm reaching the ending of my warranty and my hot box of a car still isn't fixed, Worse customer service ever. I really hope that they start to be honest with their customers. Because had i been with my husband when he picked up the car, it would've never left the lot. BUYERS or interested buyers BE WARE. They're not honest and once you leave they will do all and everything to screw you over and get you stuck in a messed up car. I liked the no-haggle buying process. What i had an issue with is that the refurbishing was focused on the upcoming milestone, not past milestones. In my case, they performed all the services required for 60k but did not go back to check that all the stuff required at 55k and prior were already done. This car needed a transmission fluid change but because it was required at 50k and the car had 59k miles, they would not do it. Resulted in $250 out of pocket for me. Always get the car checked by your mechanic in the first 7 days so that you can negotiate with them. my mechanic found other stuff as well that carmax did agree to pay for but not the transmission fluid change. read more

I was at this vary store on 2/10/2016. I was checking the Audi A6 that listed available on the website (as of the time I walked into the store). Admittedly, I didn't make reservation first. But I found out that the car was driven home by one of the manager as one of his "employment benefit." Not sure how long he has been driving the car but I saw he has all his gears (baby seat, water bottles, clothes, etc.). This just makes me question the accuracy of the mileage listed and the condition of the car. Went to pick up the title so I could get the tags, had to return to carmax 3 times until they could get the paperwork right and make it acceptable for the DMV. (3 lovely trips to the DMV only to be turned away!) No customer service. The manager never intervened to explain or apologize for the incompetence. My experience was great until I got a call a week later saying they screwed up my paperwork and the VIN number was incorrect on my documents. They then tried to sell me a car I was driving for a week for $3000 more than what the sticker advertised. During this fiasco, without my knowledge they also ran my credit again. Corporate, BBB and the CFPB will be getting a nice long letter from me! My registration is still screwed because the color of the car is listed wrong and they failed to correct it. They told me I could go to DMV and pay to have it fixed and they would reimburse me. read more

We purchased a Mercedes C-Class in April 2016 - Unfortunately, we had to return the car on two different occasions for a leak cause by a "faulty valve", which caused huge stains on our cement driveway. After much aggravation and time taken from work they were unapologetic and had no direct answer as to why these issues were passed through the "CarMax Certification". We were originally told that we would receive service certificates to cover a year of oil changes for all of the aggravation, however we were only handed the equivalent of one oil change. I was able to walk around the lot and look at (and open) any car I wanted! With no pushy salesman running up to me! When I was ready to drive I just went inside, spoke to the gentleman at the front desk and within minutes I was introduced to Dana Franks. She was so pleasant, easy to talk to, and the furthest thing from a pushy, haggling salesperson. The financing process was so easy, and so straight forward. The woman who assisted me with signing my paperwork, Tess, was also a gem.
