We asked if he's able to tell us when they were going to be done with the other car so we can take a look but he responded with "I can't take you back there." First off, thank goodness we requested someone else to help us because he was able to get the car to the front and it had no damage to the front unlike the other car he was trying to sell us. Since there were two of the same cars, wouldn't you want to pick the one in the better condition? And secondly, he could've asked them when the other car was ready rather. We knew we couldn't go to the back. He needs better training. Thankfully Tim swooped in to help us out. He was much more helpful. Santiago helped us with financing. He was actually great to work with. We told him exactly what we wanted and didn't want and I appreciated that he was quick to the point and made financing a smooth as possible. Just an FYI, they install some sort of tracking on the car if it ever gets stolen which they make you pay for. I bought my car at Lexus Escondido which they didn't make us buy. The next day, they requested authorization to diagnostic deeper, which brought my bill to around $3,700. Shortly after, a new estimate came in for an additional $8,700--bringing total repair costs north of $12,000. Beyond the fact that their parts pricing was well above typical market averages, I was deeply disappointed by the lack of honesty and guidance. Given the age and value of the vehicle, a reputable dealership should be transparent, step back, and advise a customer when sinking that kind of money into multiple failure points no longer makes sense. Deciding against the repair, I asked the service manager to connect me with their sales department so I could look at purchasing a new vehicle. He promised to put together an estimate/appraisal and have someone follow up with me. I spent over 24 hours researching new cars while waiting for a call that never came. Service and sales clearly operate in complete silos here. They had an easy lay-up to retain a loyal customer and transition me into a new BMW, yet they showed zero initiative or follow-up. Even when I went to pick up my car and explicitly voiced my frustration, no manager reached out afterward. Business must be good if they can afford to let repeat customers walk away like this.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit completely changed my opinion. I scheduled an online appointment for 7:15 AM to have a tire repaired. When I arrived, Assistant Manager Josh Taylor told me no one starts until 8:00 AM. He then looked at my tire and immediately said it could not be repaired and that I needed to purchase a brand new tire for over $300. He also said the tire would not arrive at the dealership until 4:00 PM, and since everyone leaves by 5:00 PM, I would need to come back the following day leaving me to commute on my spare tire. I was frustrated and upset, I decided to get a second opinion elsewhere. I went to Evans Tires, where they repaired the same tire for FREE in less than an hour. That experience at Toyota of Santee made me feel like I was being pushed into an unnecessary sale rather than being honestly helped. As a longtime loyal customer, that is incredibly disappointing. Trust is everything when it comes to vehicle service, and this visit completely damaged that trust. I sincerely hope Toyota of Santee addresses this situation and has a serious conversation with Josh Taylor regarding customer service, professionalism, and accurately advising customers. The waiting area is pretty comfortable now that it's been remodeled, seating is clean and comfortable, and there are charging stations. It's good to see that the company is finally looking out for the health and well-being of both their clients and service reps by creating a climate-controlled space to wait and work in. (Yeah, unfortunately the mechanics are still out in the heat, I imagine.)

Laura is what some businesses refer to as "a fixer". She relayed what she was doing and who was involved. The list was not a short one. When things were ironed out, she was able to obtain results that kept the dealership and Toyota in good standing by acting in good faith and resolved the warranted coverage to my satisfaction. I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change, something this dealership has performed many times over the years. After the service, I was informed that the oil drain plug had been stripped and that I now needed to replace the entire oil pan at a cost of approximately $740. Prior to this oil change, there were no leaks, no warning signs, and no issues with the oil pan or drain plug. The damage was discovered only after the dealership performed the service. It is difficult to understand how a routine maintenance item could suddenly become my financial responsibility when the problem arose during the oil change. What is most disappointing is not just the cost, but the lack of accountability. After being a loyal customer for a decade, I expected the dealership to stand behind its work and make a genuine effort to resolve the situation fairly. I received a call from Mr Anderson informing me that he would take care of labor and I would need to pay for parts. I informed Mr Anderson that I did not feel comfortable taking my vehicle back to them since they were not truthful for the beginning. I told him where I would be taking my vehicle and he told me to keep him posted of charges and that he would take care of labor. I gave him the verbal quote and he had no issues other than if the dealership would be charging me a diagnostic test. I told him no and if they did I would give him a call back. Vehicle was repaired and invoice sent to Mr Anderson. Two weeks later and he has not paid for the repair. Customer loyalty should matter. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to lose confidence in a service department I trusted for many years. I hope the dealership reviews its service procedures and how it handles situations like this so other long-time customers are treated more fairly
