This was a complete disaster do not shop Car Max. They took my car in knowing I had radiator Issues and drove it anyway returned the car with blown out gaskets. My car is no longer drivable and to make the situation worse they ran my credit 12 times on a hard pull, I was told it would be a soft mark not 12 hard. Now stuck with a bigger situation and a drop in credit score. I decided to speak to general manager Mark who was completely rude and had no intention to try to help or discuss the situation. I then advise I would be looking into legal advice and he then replied if you are looking to go that route you will have to talk to corporate and slams the phone and hangs up. This is not how a corporate dealer should handle any situation and I advise not to do business here. This by far has been the worst customer service and I'm not the only person that has gone through similar situations here. I am a general manager in my profession 12+ years and would never represent my corporation in this way worse represent my store in this manner. read more

I went to this location, 9405 SW Cascade Ave., Beaverton, OR 97008 to see what my 99 GMC Tahoe would be worth on a sale or trade-in. We drove up to the offices and I entered the show room of many agents sitting at their desks and not one customer in the place. The time was 11:50am. I explained to the male receptionist that I wished a quote of value for my vehicle as I am contemplating the purchase of a new vehicle. After several minutes he declared there we no agents available to give me a value estimate as all agents were waiting for their 1pm appointments. Again the time was 11:50am and their appointments were a hour from then. He asked if I wanted to make an appointment and return at that time. I said NO! I walked out the door and I am likely never to return. This place is worse then the typical used car lot in that they don't seem to want your business, or perhaps I did not meet their social requirements. In any case I do not wish to be treated like that and will purchase my next vehicle somewhere else than CarMax. I rated them a 1 because there is nothing lower. read more

Sedric Watson in Beaverton was awesome. Kept me in the loop and quickly answered my inquiring texts. Was in and out of there in under an hour for another test drive and paperwork. Will certainly be calling him for our next vehicle. read more

Only contact CarMax Beaverton if you enjoy wasting time and experiencing terrible customer service. The unpleasant experience began with a salesperson "Kim" responding to my completely reasonable questions with unacceptable tone and attitude. It did not seem like Kim had any motivation to sell the car. After contacting Kim and being promised a return call multiple times I never received a callback. Not to mention I had to call the CarMax store MULTIPLE times and leave messages to get in touch with another sales associate. Kim took 0 initiative in connecting us with one of his associates. The unpleasant experience continued when Sales associate "Randal" was asked a few general questions by my colleague (who is purchasing the car). When we asked to disclose any damage on the used vehicle Randal said we can come down and check it ourselves. We are very busy and live nearly 25 hours from where the location of the car, we were astonished by Randal and Kims lack of sensitivity to this issue. Randal was attempting to hide damage and refused to send us pictures of the vehicle after hours of us pleading for more information thus preventing a potential deal. Management has been made aware of the situation and hopefully, some changes will be made. Nether the less I will never shop with CarMax again. read more

Had no need for my car so I decided to sell it, Honda Accord. The entire process was smooth and took about 40 min. We worked with Rochelle, Jaime and Becca. read more

I recommend them to anyone that needs to buy a used car. They were friendly and very helpful. No pressure at all.

Jerry and David were fantastic and this was the best car buying experience my wife and I have ever had. Try them! You won't regret it.

Showroom is clean, staff are very friendly and professional. Got a very low offer on my popular make and model car in excellent condition. I'm willing to be lowballed by a couple thousand in exchange for how quick and simple it would have been to sell it to them, but not willing to eat $4000. Since no one in their right mind would sell them their excellent condition car (none of the others there that morning accepted their low offers either), I have to assume they get their cars at auction yards and repossessions and with the quick once-over the "mechanic" gives them, I wouldn't trust a Carmax purchased car to run for long. Therefore, I can't recommend buying or selling at Carmax. Sold my car myself 48 hours later for $4200 more than Carmax offered. Wish I hadn't wasted my time there. read more

It takes a lot for me to write a review about any place because most of the time it is what it is, but I had to leave a review. CarMax does not honor contracts. These people sold me a car, I literally had the car for a week and they called me up explaining that pretty much, they messed up on the numbers, that they were not making enough off the car and wanted me to sign a new contract with shitty options. I told them no and took the car back. I'm still waiting on my cash down deposit to be return. They are very untrustworthy. read more

Went to Carmax in Beaverton on Sunday afternoon. Decided to check them out because of the variety of cars available at their location. The website has many photos posted of each vehicle and has lots of information available. To make a long story short, we drove home in a new (to us) vehicle. The whole experience was awesome! We drove six different cars because we were very specific about what we were looking for in a vehicle. Kal Piimauna was the poor salesman that was stuck with us. He was very patient and grasped what we wanted very quickly. He was very laid back and intent in making sure we were happy and had the opportunity to check out all the vehicles we wanted. They offered us a fair price for our 11 year old vehicle, but we decided to keep it. They offered us a very good interest rate (better than our credit union has), financing on the spot, no hidden charges. Deb Torgerson was the business person and she was very good at explaining everything. They detailed the car and filled it while we were doing paperwork. Oh, yeah, did I mention that we can return the car in 5 days, total refund, no questions asked? Or that they will fix anything that you may find wrong for 30 days? Mechanics and service shop onsite. They do it right. I would recommend Carmax to anyone. Ask for Kal. You'll find what you want! read more

We had the BEST, car buying experience wver! We got into an awesome hybrid with great miles for a great price. Danny was super awesome and easy to work with and no pressure what so ever. I really appreciate that he just walked the lot and answered any questions about the cars we had. He spent a lot of time with us and helped us pick out the best car for us! read more

Worse customer service at a car dealership I ever had. Had a big problem when i got there and asked to see the General manager, the women who greets you when you come in the door, said "no". All I wanted was a car that i had already picked out, thought I had a hold on the car. Had an appointment so i drove 40 miles for the appointment. get there and because i did not go into my email i had none. I made the appointment at the portland carmax at 11 am. So, at 1:30 i has no car, and never saw on and i was at 2 Carmax dealerships in a day read more

I've got to say, I had a unique situation making my new car purchase a little bit of a juggle but the Beaverton CarMAX made it all worthwhile and helped me anyway they could. I specifically want to thank Katherine S. , the Business Office Manager at that location, a 5+ star for going above and beyond for me during this process and helping even the hard parts feel easier! She is the best manager I have ever met! read more

My boyfriend and I made an appointment there yesterday morning and got taken care of promptly. All the cars in the lot were unlocked and we were allowed to look in and around them with no sales guy following us around. Nick was the guy who helped us get appraisal for our vehicle. The amount was lower than we wanted and we ended up getting more elsewhere however the experience in which we had and the interaction with nick was a great one. I have my car that I'm not Inlove with and may end up going back to nick to see if he can help me maybe trade up :). I work in the customer service industry and its really refreshing to deal with others who are just as concerned with taking care of people as I am. read more

Excellent experience, held the car for my test drive - all of it was no pressure and no hassle. Vehicle i was after was priced well, especially given that only a handful were available in the valley. Best part was continuing to hold it for me while i set up my own financing. read more

We bought a car from this carmax location in Beaverton, the car buying experience was not to bad. We worked with Danny he was really nice to work with. However, after getting this car home on a friday night after purchasing it we realized the brakes will not stop squeaking (we were told this was because the vehicle had been sitting) the squeak wasn't too bad so we thought it seemed right to their description. Well the license plate light is out and the heating dash lights are out and the passenger window sounds like metal against glass when you put it down. Also when you are putting the car into first gear and reverse the car grinds. It did not do this on the test drive. Needless to say, within 24 hours we realized there was quite a bit wrong that needed to be fixed. We took the car in on Monday to be serviced. It's now over a week later and they have replaced the battery, the lights in the dash, the steering box, the brake light and tightened the screws in the window. ( some of which they found were under recall ) We were told this was only going to take a couple days. Each day another issue comes up and they have to order a part or they dont know how to repair the new issue. They still claim there is nothing wrong with the brakes. But they have now broke the HVAC system in the car and need a few more days. This has all been handled with Will who is a complete jerk and will make it all seem like it's your fault and your problem. Keep in mind you have 5 days to return this vehicle that was supposed to have already had a 125+ point Certified Quality Inspection by their technicians. If this has been completed, why are we having these issues and you have had our vehicle past the return date. We will never shop with carmax again or recommend them to anyone. This has been a horrible experience and their service manager Will needs to be fired by the way he treats people. Look at the other reviews that should say something about his customer service. We can't wait to get our car back and take it in somewhere else to have it looked at. read more

My wife just retired and we were thinking that we might have to buy a car that we could tow behind our RV. We worked with Andy, who showed us a couple possibilities. We thought about it for a few days and realized that the 1996 Jeep we had was not going to last that us much longer. Our first step was to sell the Jeep! Andy helped us arrange for an appraisal, and Car Max bought it for a very fair price. We then took a few more days for us to narrow down the choices of cars that could be towed. Andy did some research also, and a few days later we came back and did some test drives. We finally decided on a Ford C-Max Energi. We really love it. It is fun to drive and gets really good gas milage. We just had the tow bar installed and our RV has no problem towing it. We are really happy with how Car Max treated us and especially Andy. The whole staff the Beaverton facility was very friendly and easy to work with. read more

As previously satisfied customers of CarMax (we bought two vehicles through them in Las Vegas,) we were more than willing to look for the car we were hoping to buy through their company again. In Las Vegas we paid $900.00 to have a Jeep shipped from MD, bought it, drove it to our home in AZ and realized it was a gutless wonder. We opted to take advantage of the 5-day return and they gave us our check back. In the meantime, another Jeep came into their lot and we bought it and were very happy with it. Back in Oregon, when we were looking for a 2013 Mercedes we put CarMax in Beaverton on our list since we had such a good experience with CarMax in Las Vegas. We identified a car in Sacramento that looked like it would fit the bill and CarMax offered to have it shipped to Beaverton free of charge. Prior to bringing the car to Oregon we asked to have someone in Sacramento walk around the car and advise of any big scratches, dents or dings. We were told an employee in Sacramento did that and there were none; car in great shape we were told. Prior to the car arriving in Beaverton we took our 2006 Mercedes E350 4-Matic in to the CarMax lot for an appraisal on what they would give us for ours. They said it was in "rough" shape and they'd give us $5000.00. It was almost pristine and we were offered $7000.00 at two other dealers and we sold it for $8000.00 to a private party. The 2013 Mercedes arrived at CarMax and the salesman informed us it had been inspected and all was good and they had taken it through DEQ and it passed. We drove to their lot to take it for a test drive and although the car was covered in rain we noticed two significant scratches on it and two dings (they previously told us there were none). We drove the car and it did drive nicely but we asked if we could have the car wiped down and take a look at it under cover out of the rain to see what else might be scratched or dinged. To his credit, the salesman, Jerry Eggers, offered to take it into the service bay and wipe it down so we could see it under bright lights. Upon further inspection in the service bay it was quite evident the back, RH side passenger door had been repainted and there was a slight dimple in the center. The paint job did not match and even the sales manager pointed out the reflection of the yellow floor stripes in the service bay reflected differently (more muted) on that door than it did on the front passenger door (brighter reflection). We had put our car search on hold waiting nearly two weeks for this particular car and were disappointed our time was wasted when either an employee in Sacramento or Beaverton could have really looked at the car and initially advised of the problems with it. We ended up buying a car at Mercedes of Portland and are quite happy with it. I doubt we'll use CarMax again after this last experience. read more

For laughs I had them quote a car I was planning to sell. The people are quite nice, they offered me $4000 less than I got after 3h on CList. I'd have been an idiot to accept their offer, which is possibly what they bank on. If you don't really need the money, leave the car in the woods or contact these guys, your choice. read more

By far the worst experience I've had at a Carmax so far. Been a customer of carmax since '05 and have boasted about them since, but now I'd have to warn others to stay away from the Beaverton location. Got a salesman named Anthony. This guy was so rude and disconnected that I almost left for the day but my girlfriends excitement for her X3 kept me there. We wanted to review the car for a bit before we test drove it and he said either we go for a test drive or he is going back inside. I was appalled! I let him know that he needs to let the customer look at their future 30k future purchase at their pace, not his. After a bit of convincing i got my customer rights back, then came the test drive. He couldn't get off his phone, texting the whole test drive. When we got back to the store we immediately left. We did end up buying the car but now with his help. It's still under warranty with free maintenence but Carmax changed its oil without our consent and now we are screwed out on 10k miles having to drive on faith that carmax used bmw oil. There was more issues but I'm done with my rant for now. Take my advice: drive to the Clackamas Store and get treated the way carmax is known to treat customers. Avoid Beaverton if at all possible and remember, it's free to transfer cars on their lot to Clackamas. read more

I will never go back to CarMax. The one i went to is the Milwaukie location. Everything was going fine through the appraisal and buying process. We told the salesperson David Pick we wanted a 4wd suv type car. We were sold a 2wd Jeep. We didnt notice until we got home that this was not a 4wd. We called him to verify this and he said yes it is an all wheel drive car. We had to run the VIN ourselves to make sure. It was not a 4wd. We were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I went back and got a different car (2017 Santa Fe) and i had to go by myself to get it due to my husband being at work. He told both of us this car had a lift gate and a rear lift gate which is what we wanted. My husband got home that night and realized that was not true either. He also told me that my credit wouldn't be affected much at all well that was a lie also. It went down 26pts!! He said many times it would be a "soft" check. Bullcrap! So due to this person not knowing their product and basically doing a bate and switch on us just to sell a car, i will be contacting the BBB. We called to speak to the management (Dave) and he wasn't willing to do anything but say sorry i will talk to him. THATS ALL!! I shouldnt have to go into a CarMax and double check every single thing YOUR sales person says. So now im stuck with a car that doesn't have everything i was told it did and why i bought it. Do not trust CarMax or David Pick!! read more

i had an excellent experience at carmax. bought a 2013 cmax energie hybrid. it had a problem shortly after purchase. i took it to their shop as it was still in the 90 day warranty and they seemed to fix it. i got a loaner in the meantime. the problem came back. this time, they took it to the manufacturer and a part was replace. all covered by the 90 day warranty and i even got an additional 6000 mile warranty for this particular problem. if it comes back in the next 6000 miles, they will fix it. so far, my car has run like a dream. i love it! i charge it overnight, it takes me to work, i charge at work for 50 cents. all in all, im paced to spend less than 50 bucks a month on all my driving. i give carmax my highest recommendation. read more

This is the 3rd vehicle I've purchased thru Carmax. I've had great experiences at the Albq, N.M. and Clackamas, Or. locations. I needed a never mini-van for business use and found a 2014 Toyota Sienna. I'm happy with the van as it fits my needs. What was disapointing was finding out that 3 of the panels on the passenger side had been repainted. When I brought the issue up to the salesperson, who was great, she asked the sales managers to help out and they just started to spew a company line.... "It's not uncommon for us to spend 12 hrs on average to recondition each vehicle. (mine had 12k miles) We often repaint bumpers or a fender, it could have been just been a key scratch." I did ask for compensation for the diminished value and was politely blown off. After waiting two full weeks for the Honda Mini-van I had paid to have shipped from Calif never showed up. I was in need of a good, safe running vehicle as I had really used up my trade in or I would have walked away. For a vehicle that is/was "Carmax certified" with 12k miles the damage was substantially more than suggested as apon further inspection at a Toyota dealer we found a lot of poorly done body filler and bad paint work around the wheel well and lower body panels. I did get the sales manager to agree to at least clean up the compound and dry flashing that is still evident around the roof, doors and jams, and at this point (3 weeks later) no effort had been made by Carmax to fulfill the agreement made. P.S. The vehicle was listed by "Auto Check" as no accidents reported. read more

I found a vehicle on the website that I was interested in that was located in Arizona. I spoke with a local salesperson to inquire about the transfer process. He explained that he could have a sales person in Arizona do a "walk-around" of the vehicle to answer any questions that I had. I explained that I had reviewed the CarFax report and noticed that the vehicle was originally purchased in Colorado and I was concerned about corrosion. I also wanted them to check for any pet or smoke odors and any excessive interior wear. They assured me that they only had high quality vehicles and very high standards. The salesperson called back and reported that there were no signs of corrosion and that the interior "looked and smelled new". I paid the non-refundable $699.00 to have the vehicle transported to the Beaverton location. The vehicle arrived earlier than expected while I was out of town. A manager called and left a message saying that if I didn't contact the dealership by the end of the day they would offer the vehicle to the public. I was out of town and out of cell phone contact. I made arrangements to drive the hour to the dealership so I could see my new vehicle. I was instantly disappointed. the chrome brush guard was severely pocked with rust and there was obvious corrosion on the tow hooks. I inspected the engine bay and found that there was no coolant in the tank and the radiator cap was so tight I couldn't remove it. The oil had not been changed since 10/6/2015! The navigation system was inoperable and the driver's side seat bolster was torn and cracked. I had traveled an hour to see this vehicle and had paid $699.00 to transport it and I wasn't even able to test drive it. The salesman kept in touch and addressed the oil and coolant issue and got the navigation system functioning. Management refused to address any of the other issues but would not budge on the price. The vehicle was already priced $2,000.00 above KBB retail and that does not include the transfer fee. The only concession that Carmax made was to refund my transport fee. What a disappointment. i was told that my standard was not in line with Carmax's and that I was purchasing a vehicle that was eight years old. There was no offer to find me another vehicle in their vast inventory. I guess I was too difficult of a customer. This company seems too big to offer acceptable customer service. read more
