I am from out of town and was meeting up with locals who recommended this place. I had not heard of this restaurant previously, but it will now definitely be on my list of places to visit when I'm in the area! Parking was easy, there is street parking and also a lot nearby. The service was polite and professional, and the food was excellent! On my friend's recommendation, we asked for a table upstairs which was nice and quiet. But also still lively as the place really filled up. We were very happy with everything we ordered! We had the bread basket which was fantastic, some salads and pasta. The quality of the food is outstanding and we had a very nice time here. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I stopped in for lunch with my coworkers and everything was on point. The deviled eggs and community bread basket were a great start to share. My coworkers, said the short smoked grilled salmon salad was fresh and flavorful, the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and cheeseburger were both satisfying. I had the 6oz grilled filet mignon which was cooked perfectly. Service was friendly, food came out quickly, and the quality was exactly what I expected. I would definitely come back.

My husband's favorite dish! Sautéed gulf shrimp and chicken with crispy andouille sausage and penne pasta in a spicy Creole sauce! The sauce is amazing! Nice little kick to it.

First off I want to say this is the best Salmon i've ever had, seriously. My wife ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. The food came out fast, but after that the server may have got one too many tables. We will definitely be back again.

Key lime pie...OUTSTANDING taste & a generous slice!

My friends & I hadn't seen each other in over a year & since we're scattered throughout the "DMV," Carlyle was the perfect reunion spot as it's centrally located. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with traditional holiday/Christmas decor & was lively but not loud...which made it easy for us to hear as we caught up on each other's lives. We ordered the following perfectly plated dishes which arrived quite fast: -community bread baskets (which included raisin bread...a yummy surprise!) -deviled eggs with spiced pecans & sugar-cured bacon -2 buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches (I ordered one & it was much larger than expected, perfectly crispy & deliciously juicy. Plus the pommery mustard was out of this world!) -penne primavera -chopped salad -Louisiana pasta -bacon cheeseburger (my friend pointed out that this "hit the spot") -2 coastal lobster rolls served with beautifully grilled corn on the cob -key lime pie Everyone cleaned their plates so it's safe to say that the food was thoroughly enjoyed. Furthermore, I'd like to thank our waiter, Hans, & the rest of staff we encountered as every single person was friendly & accommodating. Sadly this is no longer the norm at many establishments, so it's refreshing to experience. I only have one regret: eating too fast :)

Mango Chicken and Spiced Pecan Salad

The Carlyle has been one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV for years, and this visit reminded me why. I was happy to see they brought back the Mango Chicken and Spiced Pecans Salad, a longtime favorite. It is a bright, refreshing mix of greens, grapes, mango topped chicken, spiced pecans, and a zesty ginger vinaigrette that is simple but so flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the Charleston Salad with Spiced Pecans, and he really enjoyed it. The combination of buttermilk fried chicken, mixed greens, avocado, fresh corn, grape tomatoes, and sun dried cranberries made it a standout. The ambiance is another reason I love this place. I prefer to sit upstairs where the high ceilings, artwork, and decor create such a warm and inviting atmosphere. I am also pretty sure the main kitchen is upstairs which adds to the energy. The bread basket, thanks to the bakery right next door, is always warm and fresh, and the customer service is consistently great. Reliable, delicious and always welcoming, Carlyle continues to be one of my top favorites in the DMV.

I've been coming here for years. It's never failed me. Everything is good on the menu. Staff is polite and very attentive. My favorite dish is the 2 noodle pasta. So good.

My wife and I took a detour on our way home from Maryland to try out Carlyle. We have frequented many other restaurants that are part of the Great American Restaurant group, of which Carlyle is a member. I would liken this restaurant to Jackson's in Reston, right down to the French Dip on the menu. Heads up: This is the only restaurant in the Group (I think) that does not serve Ozzie rolls. Parking was easy and free in the nearby garage on weekends. We showed up late Sunday afternoon without calling ahead and had no trouble getting a table. We ordered a Chopped Salad and a French Dip to share, along with a lager each to drink. The salad was super fresh and large enough to split easily. The sandwich was yummy, and the accompanying fries were addictive. The service was friendly and great the entire time. If we are in the area again, we will certainly return.

I'm not much of an American cuisine person, but Carlyle is pretty good at what they do. Their appetizers-- like the lobster bisque and calamari-- are tasty. But where they really shine in my opinion is with the salads! My absolute favorite restaurant salad is the smokehouse salmon nicoise. It is literally divine! The salmon is perfectly cooked and the smoked flavor is the perfect touch. Today I tried the Charleston fried chicken salad and it was equally phenomenal. I do not mind spending $20-$30 on a salad when it's as good as the salads here!

This is part of the great American restaurants chain and has a similar look and feeling in decor (like Jackson's and coastal flats). The food was interesting and tasty, and the service was decent, but needless to say the prices were pretty high.

Welcomed by Byron and Bryan. Very nice first experience. I just happen to stop in on a Friday after work and was impressed with the prime rib that was offered along with the tastings of wine since it was my first time there. I sat at the bar and was quickly assisted by Byron and Bryan. The prime rib that is only offered a few nights a week is off the charts delicious. Would recommend 10 out of 10. The guests were all very friendly and talkative. I will definitely be stopping back in.

Another great meal and service at Grand Carlyle in Sherlington. All the guests had delicious meals. The ambience is very nice. Great for romantic dinners, group get togethers and business meetings. One of our favorite restaurants in Northern Virginia.

Almost 1900 reviews and still sitting at four stars means somethings going right. This was our first time here, and I was hoping we were far enough out in the burbs where we would not have to pay for parking, but that is not the case here. I think there's a parking garage close by that may have been free, but I can't be sure. They do have some wines by the glass, cocktails, but they only have their own brand of beer for a craft choice. We came here with a group of seven and there were two complimentary baskets of bread already on the table. We started with the calamari and spinach/artichoke dip which were excellent. Since we got here on a Friday, we decided to take advantage of their prime rib special offered to only on Friday and Saturday. Three of us got that and the others had different options. Despite the noisy full house, service was very attentive and helpful. Our waiter had no problem with splitting the bill either. I can see why this place has achieved the high rating it has. Some informative photos included.

Great service ... fast, friendly and efficient. The greens, catfish, and grits NEVER disappoint. Hubby got the salmon today and CLEANED his plate! Enough said. Clean environment. Always a vibe before "being a vibe" was a thing. Great soundtrack, artwork, etc. Browsing the shop is always mandatory. Strangely, I only bought one sticker and two magnets ... no books today. Haven't been to the Campbell Road location in years ... definitely worth the drive. Got to indulge my other obsession of looking for renovations in the neighborhoods I drive through to get here. The only bad thing was having to pay over $70 for a lunch that used to be under $40. DANG economy. *Sigh* Why wasn't I rich instead of beautiful? LOL ... convo for another time. It's owned by the same parent company as Mia's Italian Restaurant in Alexandria with the same delicious rectangle pan pizzas. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Granola was another favorite (although I would have opted out of the sweet granola). The crispy Potatoes were very tasty. The Green Papaya Salad had a spicy kick! The restaurant was clean, bright, airy, and vibrant, with a trendy atmosphere that we absolutely loved. We started with the cornbread, which had a lovely texture, somewhere between traditional coarse cornbread and a sweeter version. It was tender, delicately baked, and served with delicious butter. I ordered the three-egg omelet, accompanied by a beautiful, fragrant, and refreshing arugula salad that I thoroughly enjoyed. The eggs tasted farm-fresh. My mate enjoyed a full breakfast of beef sausage, bacon, potatoes, over-easy eggs, and a biscuit. The coffee was hot and delicious, and my hot matcha was equally enjoyable. One small tip: specialty drinks ordered from the drink bar may take a little longer to arrive at your table, so keep that in mind. Our server was excellent, and the overall experience was wonderful. We were happy to leave a 25% tip for the great service. Between the delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive staff, this was an thoroughly enjoyable breakfast. We loved it and would gladly return!

Disappointing First Visit -- Unfortunately, I Won't Be Returning…read more I was genuinely excited to finally visit Ruthie's All-Day in Arlington after hearing so much about the restaurant. Unfortunately, my first experience was disappointing, especially considering how much I was looking forward to it. We started with Harry's Hot Hushpuppies, made with shrimp and jalapeño. They arrived nice and hot, and the batter was crispy, which I appreciated. The flavor was decent, although I think a different dipping sauce would have complemented them better. Overall, they were okay. For my entrée, I ordered Ruthie's Big Plate. I specifically requested my eggs scrambled soft with cheese. Unfortunately, they arrived without the cheese and were not cooked the way I requested. The beef sausage was another disappointment. After taking one bite, I found the texture unusually soft and mushy, almost as though it hadn't been cooked thoroughly. I couldn't enjoy it. The bacon, however, was excellent! The portion was generous, and the flavor was really good. It was honestly one of the highlights of my meal. Unfortunately, the breakfast potatoes were the complete opposite. They were dry, lacked seasoning, and had very little flavor. I did enjoy the grits, which were another positive. My husband ordered the fried chicken biscuit. I tasted his chicken, and it was extremely salty. There was a sweet honey glaze that helped balance the saltiness somewhat, but the salt was still overpowering. The biscuit itself was just okay. I did speak with the manager about my experience, and I want to acknowledge that she was very apologetic and offered to have something else prepared for me. I appreciated her professionalism and willingness to make things right. However, I declined because my husband was already eating, and by the time another meal arrived, he would have been finished. I didn't want him sitting there waiting while I ate. For me, dining out is about more than just the atmosphere or a restaurant's reputation. The food should be flavorful, properly prepared, and served as requested. Unfortunately, too many items fell short during this visit. I really wanted to love Ruthie's All-Day, but based on this experience, I don't see myself returning. I hope management takes this feedback constructively because there is definitely room for improvement in the consistency, seasoning, and preparation of the food. I also want to acknowledge the manager's effort to make things right. She came back over to check on us again, and a server brought us complimentary apple donuts with cookies and cream ice cream. I must say, the cookies and cream ice cream was absolutely delicious! When I spoke with the manager again, she told me, "I didn't want you to leave dissatisfied." I genuinely appreciated her saying that and, more importantly, making the effort to turn our experience around. I even told her that the ice cream was my "happy place" because I enjoyed it that much! Although I was disappointed with several aspects of our meal, I believe in giving credit where credit is due. The manager was attentive, sincere, and genuinely concerned about our experience. Her hospitality did not erase the issues we had with the food, but it certainly made a difference in how we felt leaving the restaurant. I truly appreciate her kindness and willingness to make things right, and I felt it was only fair to acknowledge that in my review. So I changed it to 3 stars for the effort to make things better.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. Can you believe there was a baby sitting at the bar? Yes , a baby no more than 12 months old eating fries drinking a shot of apple juice. I almost took a picture of this phenomenon but their parents would not have approved. The parents were also an interesting couple. An Ethiopian and an Asian woman. I've never seen that combination with a child sitting at the bar. Anyways, this night was having a weird start. We sat at the bar for a drink . I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir by Evolution. This wine has nice legs . I made the mistake of looking for wine on the bottle list and baby they have $600 dollar bottles of poison at this bar ! Very fancy. My friend had a cocktail not sure which one it was but he didn't like it very much. The bartender put a cinnamon stick and dried orange slice in it, not sure if that helps. When our table was available a nice young lady met us at the bar and escorted us to the dining room. It was very noisy like a cafeteria . We felt more comfortable next to the boss baby at the bar. At least she was quiet enough for us to have a conversation. The food took longer than we expected. We ordered 3 appetizers. Brussel sprouts, duck egg roll, and the fried short rib balls. We had 2 rounds of the starting 3 apps. The duck egg roll was the . The Brussel sprouts were the supporting actors. The fried short rib balls reminded me of fried beef stew. I always order the sides when I'm new to a restaurant and I was not impressed by the carrots. They were served in their natural shape but shaved down . Perfect for bugs bunny. I'd rather mine were chopped in little circles so I can eat like a laaaaady. Not to mention they were still Raw at the core. We sent them back and asked for truffle fries. The fries took forever AND were undercooked. Soggy , oily ... WTH. How do you mess up French fries ? An air fryer could have done a better job with the fries and carrots. Those two mistakes made me lose confidence in an entree. Maybe I'll travel for a brunch experience but I dunno . ‍
