$24 USD for shrimp tacos and a beer
Silvie C.

This place probably isn't the spot for daytime fare... I walked in during the afternoon because the street taco shack across the street is only open in the evening. My shrimp taco cravings however were satisfied. $4.50 USD for a Dos Equis ambar followed by $20 USD for three shrimp tacos with slaw and tamarind sauce... Overpriced.

Very lively place with loud music and great food . It's the kind of place that is Greta for New Year's Eve.

Want someone to force drinks down your throats in Cancun? This is the place for you. Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. It was a hoot. A young man next to us did 4 or 5 shots and ended with a nice looking, large Mexican man dancing on his lap. A nice young Mexican lady finished it off so no-one was overly disappointed. The food was surprisingly good. We had chicken and carne asada tacos. Both were good. Prices were about average for America and cheap for a resort. Beers were cold. We had a margarita and it was way strong. Not something to order again. Our waiter Rafa was exceptional. All the staff were always dancing around and forcing drinks on people. It was definitely worth checking out, the entertainment was outstanding.

Love this place. Yes it's a bit of a throwback to my younger days and the food isn't what I would classify as "excellent" but good. Service is great. We got here and watched the Coco Bongo people getting ready, definitely good people watching. The atmosphere is festive and the music was on point. MNF was on but the music and festivities were more entertaining. You will get asked to take a shot every 5 minutes and you will wear a balloon hat. There is a sign that says "People having fun serving people here for fun". Definitely true.

OK so, I gave it 3 stars because it was good but could have definitely been way better. They did give us a free round of mixed shots though that was a nice touch. The atmosphere of the place is perfect, the staff is nice even though the language barrier caused ALOT of confusion with orders and drinks they still genuinely tried to get it right so if you don't know any Spanish it will most likely affect you a bit. Jus a bit. I had the pineapple shrimp and coconut rice. I wish the portion of the rice was larger it was very small like tea cup size and the meal itself was wayyyy too overwhelming with the flavor or pineapple. Granted, it was inside a pineapple but they added pineapple sauce to the mashed potatoes inside and it wasn't good. Two of us had this meal and agreed that we did not like it. It was six of us at the table in total and I believe only two actually enjoyed their meal. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going here I just would be on the fence about going again. That's simply because the staff was nice, but the orders, eh. There's plenty around so I'd most likely avoid it. Either way, ultimately, I feel it's a hit or a miss with this place. Try at your own risk! Haha

Make you own guacamole, the humiliation comes free!

Let me start this with saying we will never go to Cancun again, unless flying through on the way to Playa Del Carmen or Tulum. See my review of the Riu Cancun here for more in depth opinions on Cancun and the hotel: http://www.yelp.com/biz/riu-cancun-canc%C3%BAn?hrid=RZIMTjspdLTHVyxmRuQcyg On our last night in Cancun we couldn't stand being sequestered in our all-inclusive resort for one more tired ass buffet so we ventured out into Cancun and stumbled upon Carlos & Charlie's. The place was pretty busy on a Sunday night and loud as a nightclub on crack. We were first seated in a table off to the side but after sitting down I was slapped in the face with a thick wave of vomit. We both smelled it straight up puke from god knows who or where but it was unmistakable and pungent. We were moved to the only other available table which was right in the thick of the craziness coming from the bar area. Don't expect a romantic or calm evening here. It was a meal full of constant whistle blowing and loud music. You won't have time to pick up your menu before some pushy waitress talks you into shots she's carrying around with her. She will then proceed to grab your boobs and your husband's boobs. Oddly enough, neither of us was phased by this ambush of fondling, which maybe says more about us and less about her. Whatever you do, do not order the guacamole I repeat do not order the guacamole. Unless of course you enjoy being the center of what I'm not sure would be considered the right kind of attention or not since I prefer to hide in a den of solitude than be center stage. If you do order the guacamole, you will be forced to make it yourself while wearing a giant chef outfit while whistles are blowing and people are staring like a monkey in a cage. I was scolded for putting in too much salt but clearly Juan didn't know salt is my favorite food. If you're going to make me make my own appetizer, you cannot scold me like my mother does about my salt addiction. We all have our vices and at least I don't snort mine up my nose. All in all, we loosened up after the vomit and the DIY avocado and enjoyed ourselves. Not sure what gave me a bigger headache, the whistles, the Jager or the sodium, but bring the Advil. As I mentioned, I'd rather spend a week in a straight jacket in a basement in Utah than a week in Cancun, but C & C provided a fun place to get away from the prison that was the Riu Cancun. P.S. We split the fajitas and that was plenty of food after all the salsa, chips and guacamole, oh and Jager.

The balloon thingys they made us.. and we felt obligated to tip after.
Grace L.

Atmosphere is fun. They do whatever it takes to make tip: balloon making, tequila shots, pictures, etc. Food is whatevers .. not authentic Mexican food. Portions are huge. The waiters are rowdy and loud. If you go with girls.. the guy waiters will be all over you so it's kind of creepy but funny. Lol. Their coke is super watered down. I wouldn't go back here just cuz the food wasn't worth it. But if you're with a big group of people and especially if they're drunk, it's a fun atmosphere.

First nite here not sure what to do. Was looking to see if there were any clubs worth going to. Everything looked crazy and overwhelming but this place had amazing music and we were hungry. So we decided to go here to eat. Awesome throwback hip hop videos. Waiters were hilarious and nice. We ordered fajitas, fish tacos and ceviche. I ordered a beer and friend ordered a daquiri. Ceviche was not so good. Needed a kick. More citrus, more cilantro, some heat. Fish tacos were great though. But all in all a fun place with great music.

Shannen C.

This bar was pretty fun. I like all the decorations, a good place to just grab a drink before going to the clubs. I ordered a mango drink in a yardstick. They played music videos on a projector.

Live Cuban Salsa band Tuesday & Friday Nights 10 -1am. Excellent music and mojitos.. The DJ is good and the waiters pull the visitors in for dancing. It is an excellent beachy, fun atmosphere. We've enjoyed the nachos, large enough for a table of 4 to share. Some words to serious salsa dancers; the place is casual, the wood floor is uneven or patched, and the place can get hot and humid, even with their large fans and the AC on.

Every time I visit Cozumel I make sure to stop in Carlos'n Charlie's. The staff there have always been friendly and join in the fun. They made us all funny balloon hats that we wore around town the rest of the day.

The famous #HardRock guitar right in the front of this restaurant love it

Right in the middle the hotel zone! It was so live here and a lil expensive for what we got. If you want a good view of everything going on this is the place to visit in cancun

No red wine. No Corona. Bad service. Food was meh. Only plus was the giant screen to watch the games on. We left and went somewhere else.

We had been walking in the area earlier that day and made a plan to come back for dinner. When we arrived there were a lot of people but we were seated immediately. Martin was our waiter and he was great. There were a few large screen TVs playing sports. There was live music. A lot was going on but it really worked. People were enjoying themselves and the wait staff was friendly and talkative. I ordered shrimp fajitas and my husband ordered the mole. He always orders mole. The meals were very good. We ordered a mango margarita and Tecate. The margarita came with a tehine rim. I just wiped it off. That is becoming so popular. I decided to indulge in the banana dessert and I am glad I did. It came with a show. That was fun and the dessert was delicious. We were there earlier in the evening and we saw many couples and families. I'm sure the place gets a little more livelier as the night goes on. If you are in the area, this is a good place to eat and enjoy your time in Cancun.

The wait staff forms a conga line to deliver a margarita, carried atop a sombrero! The play tunes and dance around inviting diners to join them. Service is attentive & excellent! The menu has 90% Mexican specialities, but also has pasta, burgers and vegetarian. I was there with friends who had quesadillas & I had chicken enchiladas. Everything was good & portions were big. I just drank water, so cannot comment on the drinks. I had the flan for dessert, which was generous in size & ok. One of my friends had the flaming bananas & said it was so yummy! Everything is surprisingly (for Cancun) priced affordable. My enchiladas were about $12. I would happily return here! So much fun!

In the past this place has always been a staple for us, but each year we go we like it a little less. This year majority of the group was disappointed in the entire experience from the service to the food. To start, the service was lacking compared to what we get at other local restaurants nearby. Our servers did not frequently come back to ask if we needed anything and we were constantly having to ask to get our waters refilled. The drinks are good, but nothing we can't get elsewhere. Half of our group enjoyed (but not loved) their food and half did not enjoy. My SO and I split the al pastor meal. In the past we have loved this, but this time it felt like they rushed to make it and the flavors we remembered just weren't there. It was still good, but I think it could have been better. I do love the churro cart here, but you can get good churros several other places. Overall, this place has gone downhill in our opinion, and for the price it isn't worth it when there so many better options close by. I'm sure we will be back, but I think we might skip a year stopping here.
