We can't recommend Dr. Ortiz enough! He gives his full attention during every visit and takes the time to thoroughly answer all of our questions. His patience and genuine care for our baby boy are clear in every interaction we've had. When our newborn developed a fever just hours after being discharged from the hospital--around 2 AM--we called the office hoping to get an early appointment. The call must've been forwarded to Dr. Ortiz's personal line, and to our surprise, he picked up immediately and instructed us on what to do. It's rare to get that level of care anywhere. Although our baby's insurance isn't accepted at his practice, we've chosen to pay out of pocket just to keep seeing him. As first-time parents, having Dr. Ortiz's support and reassurance has made all the difference. The waiting area is clean. We never had issues with the front desk staff. We've been to the office numerous times now and haven't had any wait times longer than 20 minutes. *Bonus points because the clinic offers parking spots. Dr Carlos Ortiz has seen me since I was a newborn and I'm now 19 years old. My parents are Colombian, like the doctor, and put their trust in him because he shares our same background and most importantly, can understand my parents' language and communicate with them better than any American doctor could. Ever since I was a kid, he's always belittled and underestimated my pain. It's like he doesn't believe me when I tell him something is bothering me. He'd shrug off my complaints (about varying issues like stomach pain and ankle/calf pain) and tell my parents to feed me chicken soup. When I was 14, I came into his office feeling like I was going to die, unable to keep food down for DAYS, stomach problems, bed-ridden because of a virus and all he did was prescribed ibuprofen. I've come into his office on multiple occasions simply for him to fill out medical clearance forms for sports and he'd ask me very personal questions multiple times. He interrogates me every time. The way he phrases questions just irks me. He always repeats the questions as if my first response wasn't the truth. He would reluctantly sign the form even though I'm physically healthy and able to participate in them. Not to mention, his staff of only women (strange right?) is obnoxious rude and blatantly disgusting. Whenever people ask them questions, they give you this look like your presence is bothering them. They answer in the most vague and ambiguous way possible. The wait time is ridiculous every single time. Honestly if you think of making an appointment after reading all this, know that you will wait AT LEAST an hour and a half before they take you into a room and make you wait even more. You will do all that waiting for him to see you for 5 minutes and tell you you're fine. Today I came in seeking a referral for an orthopedic doctor and a new general doctor (since I'm sick of seeing newborns and toddlers screaming, crying and coughing every time I come in for my yearly check up). His final message to me was, "Luckily, this is the last time we'll ever see each other. Good riddance" I couldn't believe he actually said that. All of this to say, from what I've seen throughout all 19 years of my life, he's a horrible human being and the amount of actual medical knowledge he has is questionable. Do to the unprofessional behavior from its front desk staff I & other parents witnessed countless times by many in a compacted waiting room that I will make a record of the violations in this office including communicating with the fire dept, the NYS health dept to visit this office & the NYS licensing bureau why because the doctor has A catastrophe of how DUNCE this staff is. I have great concern Dr. Ortiz will make mistakes and harm medically it's patients with life long complications and consequences just because he while overseeing is allowing the overbooking of his daily capacity. The DR. Needs time to confirm concerns & establish care for his tiny patients & to record concerns & provide treatment then record for follow up treatment. IT takes time to properly take care of our innocent children coming into this office. His Sister is the office manager and is completely in Dire need of a neurological evaluation "extensively" for The disgusting display of her responsibility to the patients safety. The worst doctor office in Queen !!! I came for a simple letter regarding my child is a patient at this office. I called prior to visit and was told to come in person and they can give it to me. After traveling two hours to the office I was met with the front desk staff who cursed yell and threaten me while I was with my baby. Before attending i had read all reviews on this place and i usually take negative reviews with a grain of salt but this place is an absolute circus. You are packed with about 20 people in a room no bigger than a small bedroom. Only 1 parent is allowed even if you bring 2 children - For "COVID reasons" which is understandable, but COVID is completely disregarded when cramming 20 people in a small room for 3-4 hours proving that money is more important than your health and safety. Your slotted appointment means nothing, you WILL wait 2 hrs minimum with no source of entertainment for your kids, no water dispenser... nothing. Customer Service and Customer Comfort is not a priority. Last but not least, a doctors office is no place for political propaganda which you'll see the moment you sit down. And btw, don't bother ringing the doorbell, a paper sign states that' not even that is working. And parking ? LOL You have to leave your car on the sidewalk while you run inside to pick up a metal stick with a key on it, after retrieving that you can now walk back to your car and then pull in IF there's any parking available. To leave, you must ask for that same stick to open the gate, retrieve your car, leave it on the sidewalk and then go back inside to drop the key off. Nothing but inconvenienced nuances. I hear the doctor is a nice guy for whatever that's worth. Our appointment was at 11:45, 8 people were in front of us when we arrived at 11:40. We were seen at 2:30. You've been warned. read more

Dr carlos Ortiz is a great doctor, friendly and available for any questions or concerns. I used to be a patient of his father and have been taking my 8 year old son since he was born. Unfortunately in the last few years the customer service has declined. The girls in the front desk are dry and always seemed bothered if you ask them a question. The wait time is ridiculous! They claim they dont accept walk-ins but you can call the same day and get an appointment. When you make an appointment in advance you will still wait 2.5 - 3 hrs to be seen. They dont honor the appointment schedule it's a first come first serve basis. Unfortunately I will no longer be going to Dr Ortiz as their agenda is quantity not quality. read more

Dr. Ortiz has great bedside manner with the kids. They respond well to him. He has genuine care for his patients. However, be prepared for long wait times - sometimes as long as 4 hours if you're a walk in. Sometimes the front desk staff is not as courteous but this is a function of being overwhelmed by patients. If you're driving, call in and see if you can park in the outside lot. Sometimes he has spaces available, sometimes he doesn't. Parking outside around here is tough. read more

Dr. Ortiz was recommended by a friend and this is the best doctor I have encountered. He genuinely cares for his patients. The biggest complaint is the waiting time but that is simply due to the time he spends caring for each child. He takes the time to hear all your concerns and address all your questions (no matter how silly the question may be). And the waiting time is reasonable, he is worth the wait. He doesn't just prescribe medication unless it's absolutely necessary. He is available at all times via phone. During an emergency when I was traveling abroad with my infant he was answering my desperate calls at 3am! I have visited many specialists and dr for my childs special needs which he has referred and they are also great. this doctor I consider family because first comes his patients and their families. The staff is also amazing. They provide referrals, medical forms and medications the same day usually and they follow up promptly. I worked in early intervention for years and all the parents we had in the queens area loved Dr.Ortiz. When I had my son I knew who I wanted as his pediatrician. Dr Ortiz is an incredible doctor. He is very patient and reassuring and encourages questions and provides you with a lot of information. I also love that he does a wellness check through a questionnaire for moms after giving birth. I love his office it's very clean and has nice toys for kids to play. I always leave feeling like a great mom because he is so reassuring. read more

Doctor Ortiz is a very nice Doctor but his front desk employees are a nightmare. There used to be one nice person there but now They are very rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. I am thinking of changing my kids pediatrician because I don't know how long I can stand to deal with his rude staff. My husband doesn't even want to take the kids to his office anymore because he doesn't want to lose his head having to deal with his front desk staff. I had a school form that needed the doctor's signature, the front desk employee told me it will take 2-3 or maybe longer. She specifically told me, you don't need to keep calling, we will call you when the form is ready. After 7 days I finally call back to ask and someone on the phone told me, oh its been ready last week. I said, Oh! I thought someone was supposed to call me when it's ready. And she said (with angry tone) oh when we said we'll call you doesn't mean we will call you. Sometimes we get busy!! . I didn't expect an apology and I understand that they can get busy but it was the way she spoke that was rude and unprofessional. This is not an only incident though. I would say he is the best compared to any other pediatricians in the flushing area. He's thorough and never rushes. He's so good with kids and especially crying babies. I love this Doctor. He takes his time and answers all your questions even if you might think they are silly (when you are a first timer you have a lot of those) He makes sure your child has all of his vaccines and all their check ups up to date. Amazing doctor! Very professional and always willing to answer any questions. He explains things in a very colloquial way. My son previously went to a pediatrician who was very friendly but highly unprofessional. She's a pulmonary specialist and didn't even realize that my son's chronic cough was due to a very mild case of asthma. She also didn't know he has a heart murmur. Anyway, the wait is pretty long to see the actual doctor, maybe it was because it was our first time there and had no appointment, but I think it's worth the wait. There are no toys in the waiting room for the kids, only some mirrors and a tv showing cartoons. My autistic teenage son saw Dr. Ortiz for the first time today. My son hadn't seen a doctor in a couple of years and I wasn't sure what to expect. I cried out of sheer happiness at seeing how he was engaging with my son and with me, by asking as much background information possible, by being so courteous and explaining things to us about his medications that my son's own psychiatrist never explained to us. Dr. Ortiz was so thorough and he gave me a game plan for how we would proceed with my son for achieve the goal in obtaining his long-term well-being. I was left speechless when I realized that my son went from rolling his eyes to everything the doctor was saying at the beginning of the visit to fully making eye contact, answering him and even paying attention to what the doctor was saying in the end.
