    Strawberry Shortcake Slice
    Set R.

We went to Carlo's in NYC last night. Even though the holiday season leads to busier store hours, the staff were still pleasant and efficient. I've been trying to avoid food dye, so I decided to skip the rainbow cake I normally get. The strawberry short cake was phenomenal! The strawberries were actually fresh instead of the jelly strawberries that a lot of supermarkets use. And the icing was so light and fluffy, just like a strawberry shortcake should have. The cake was also really good. Definitely my new favorite!

This was a cute shop but very over priced. The staff is friendly and the shop is clean. My husband and I bought 3 desserts that all averaged around $5 each. There are too many good bakeries around to pay $2 extra on a dessert. Final thought if I was in the shopping center and wanted a treat to go with my Starbucks, I would go back but wouldn't make a special trip.

    Eclair

This place is garbage. Nothing is fresh. Way overpriced because of the "hype" he should have stayed in Hoboken. It's way too commercialized now. Got an eclair and it was stale and not even filled up. A black and white cookie that came in commercialized packaging like it wasn't even made fresh on premises. Terrible.

For $11, I expect it to be full in the container. I feel that they duked me a little. Cake is a little dry and the strawberries aren't fresh. They need to make this better. This is ridiculous.

We were so excited to pass a Carlo's bakery here in South Jersey so we had to stop and grab some sweets The girls working the counter were both very nice and helpful. Everything we got was incredible!!! So glad I could experience this in south Jersey.

    4-pack Lobster Tail Box

The place is always very clean and the staff are always very friendly. I have been going here for a couple years and my family always gets the lobster tails! They are always very crispy on the outside with a wonderful, soft, delicious cream on the inside that is not too sweet. They are always so yummy and a great trip. However, I do feel like they have gotten smaller over time. They still taste just as good but I definitely do think they have gotten smaller. I would still come back though as the lobster tails are a very nice treat every once in a while.

So My Grandson's Mom wanted a Confetti or Cannoli Cake for her Birthday. Not too many places have a good cannoli cake and if they do they're in Philly so I looked up a few bakeries and saw this bakery had confetti cake and cannoli's so it was a 2 for 1 for me. I placed the order online and scheduled the pick up. The 6inch cake and box of 5 cannolis totaled $58, not too bad. When I went to pick up my order, I was impressed with it, it was a cute shop! The display cases were beautifully arranged and I liked how everything was staged Covid19 Guidelines were followed with Directions, Distancing and Masks Customer Service was attentive, quick, informative and friendly I ended up adding to my order. Since the cake and desserts were going home with the birthday girl, I wanted to taste something! I ordered the chocolate slice and also the color striped one (cant remember the name now) I think they were $9 a slice The chocolate cake slice was delicious! Very dense but moist and definitely a great chocolate flavor to it The multi colored striped cake was also dense but moist too. The buttercream was prominent due to so many layers and the frosting in between all the layers but it was still good. I would suggest only eating sections at a time, these cake slices are big!! My Grandson's Mom and Family also loved their Confetti Cake and said it was good so that's 4 items that everyone liked. I would definitely come again!

Carrot Cake and Red Velvet Cup Cakes from Carlo's
    Richard R.

I have to agree with the other reviewers that have written that Carlo's Bake Shop is over hyped. When the place first opened, it was very crowded as people were curious. We went on an afternoon during lunch hours and the line was quite short and also the location had been open for a few weeks at that time. Carlo's for me is 2.5 stars. It is a nice store and clean and bright. The displays are attractive but they are cashing in on their TV fame. We had two cupcakes, Carrot Cake and Red Velvet. They were A-OK, but not great or memorable. On the plus side, they were not overly sweet which I like. On the whole they were just average, almost pretty good. Sweet Box in Philadelphia is so much better and also McMillan's Bakery has a better cup cake and is just a better bakery all around in the area. Sweet Eats Bakery in Vorhees has much better tasting cakes in my opinion. Again, as others have written, if you want to go because of the Cake Boss it is probably worth a trip. If you are just looking for a good bakery, Carlo's is nothing special.

The top of the cake is an inch and a half of buttercream-ugh

Ordered a Piecaken for Thanksgiving/my birthday. It was beautiful but sickeningly sweet. The buttercream was supposed to be cinnamon but just tasted like really sweet buttercream. Thick gross layers of it. The cake was dry and tasteless. The pecan pie again, way too sweet and the pumpkin pie was bland. Overall, not good and no one finished their dessert. We threw out the leftovers and opted for plain apple pie from ShopeRite and ice cream. I had chocolate cake from this locations before and it wasn't great. Wanted to give it another chance but wished I didn't.

    Great stuff

Do they offer any gluten free options?

Some of the cheesecake selection is gluten-free, as well as the chocolate-dipped strawberries!

Do they have any vegan options?

I asked today and they do not but they said maybe in the future.

Just going to stop by since I was in the area. The bakery is in this shopping center and the parking lot was pretty full when I arrived Sunday afternoon. I agree with the reviewers that this place is small. I felt that I wanted to take my time looking at items but the space felt crowded while looking. Overall they had many options to choose some but there were some empty looking shelves in the far back. I managed to get a few items to try and a slice of cake. There are kiosks to also order drinks. The line was long but moved quickly. The items I tried: Cheesy hot dog: pretty good! very sweet bread with a tiny hot dog. White Chocolate strawberry: delicious strawberry filling. The bun was soft and not overly sweet. Berry bun: I got the very last one! DELISH! The bun of milky, soft and berry filled. My favorite probably. Taro bun: HUGE! Love the taro paste but the bread was alittle off since there was seeds in it. Not loving that texture Tiramisu cheesecake: very good fluffy cheesecake. Would have liked more tiramisu/coffee flavor. Chocolate bun: Another favorite. Very good chocolate fudge on the inside. Wish I bought 10 of theses. Egg tarts: I got the two pack. Wish I got the full box (maybe next time). Flaky buttery crust with sweet egg custard. Also a favorite. Overall everything I got was really good. I also loved that the prices were very affordable ($2-5). The only thing I would add is maybe to have more a description and allergens added to the cards so people with allergies could identify what they can and cannot eat. Cant wait to come back and maybe try one of the drinks :)

If you know, you know. The pastries here are absolutely worth the detour--and honestly, wherever I see a Paris Baguette, I do pull over. That includes locations I've visited in Northern California, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Atlanta, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and even the one here in Charlotte down in Pineville. It's a bit of a drive for me, but when I'm in that area, I always make a point to stop in and pick up a couple of their delicious croissant-donut pastries and marzipan or almond croissants. That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself. For me, it's one of those rare places that delivers the same quality every single time, no matter the city--and that kind of consistency is something I truly appreciate as a traveler and lifelong foodie.

The bakery has a really inviting atmosphere, with a wide display of pastries that makes it hard to choose just one thing. Eventually I went with a long cinnamon donut as well as a croissant. Both were incredible. The cinnamon donut was extremely sweet and soft. I thought they did a great job of balancing the sweetness and flavor. The cinnamon donut had all of the characteristics of both a donut and a pastry. The croissant was light, flaky, and buttery, just how you'd want a good croissant to be! Everything tasted fresh, and it was a really nice quick stop whether you're looking for breakfast or just a snack during the day. Paris Baguette is a great spot in the area if you're craving pastries or something sweet, and I'd definitely stop by again next time I'm in Philly.

The service is quick and conducive for to-go orders and they accept credit card. As there is only one register, if there is a line, it may take a while. When I was there, I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I ordered the cheesecake, rainbow cookie, and cinnamon roll. These were all so delicious and I'll be back soon for more! The cheesecake was decadent but had depth to its flavor and the crust was thick and solid. I really enjoyed the slice and it was large enough to be shared, so I felt the price was spot on for the value. The rainbow cookie was one of the best I've ever had, with its rich chocolate flavor, and was an elevated version of ones I've had in the past. Lastly, the cinnamon roll was a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise it was what I'd call "a perfect cinnamon roll." Fluffy, cinnamon-forward, and with lots of icing!
