They take walk in appointments! I walked in and was greeted & told them I wanted a trim & only waited a couple of minutes until being served. Let me add that I'm very picky with my hair & my hair texture is super thick and coarse compared to the norm. Since I was just getting a hair trim, I wasn't super concerned but still it's hard for me to let just anyone touch my hair. The lady who cut my hair (I cant remember her name) took her time and let me know that she was going to cut off a decent amount of hair because I had a lot of dead ends. After getting the cut, I was pleased! She didn't cut too much off, but just enough to excise the dead ends. My hair has been so much easier to manage and comb through since the cut! It's sooo much healthier! Overall, I was pleased with the service! I did have to pay a little extra because my hair is so thick so it took more time for them to cut it. I will definitely be going back the next time I need a trim!

The bathroom definitely needed some attention. The trash needed to be emptied and the entire space could have used a good cleaning. I understand that at the end of a busy day that may be the last thing anyone wants to tackle, but cleanliness still makes a big difference in the overall experience. The staff also felt pretty neutral. At many Madison Reed locations, I'm greeted warmly the second I walk through the door and immediately feel welcomed. I just didn't get that feeling here. The stylist doing my hair seemed a little rushed, and while I was processing, I stepped next door to grab dinner. When I returned, I learned she had an emergency and had to leave quickly, which I completely understand, but overall the experience still felt disconnected. Every Madison Reed location is different, and I've had some really wonderful experiences at others. This one just didn't have that warm, welcoming feeling I normally associate with the brand. I was just really curious on what happens. It wound up taking ~4 hours where I got my hair washed, cut, primed, bathed in solvent, and then curled with the little rollers. I definitely felt cared for, but 4 hours is def a long time. I brought a book and phone charger in case I was bored. The salon inside, however, is extremely cold. I think it was like 62 degrees inside, and I got my perm done in the summer when it was hot (and I still felt that it was freezing). There's a bunch of stylists inside and people who help prepare the clients. For a digital perm, it was ~$200, and if you pay with cash, you can avoid the 3% credit card fee. They also do a traditional booking system where you call them and you get written down for an appointment on a paper book. Overall, I loved how my hair turned out. It was very luscious and soft, but I wish when I made the appointment, maybe there could have been guidelines of what not to do leading up to the appointment, same with post hair care especially for new timers. I wound up using a notes app of how to care for it. I wish I had more curls in my hair, but now I know for next time and how to ask for it to be styled. Great experience generally! This place is located inside of a busy plaza with lots to do, so if you're ever waiting on someone here, you can go to Teso or get boba/food/coffee -- any type of idle shopping!

She kindly scheduled me for her next available appointment, and when the first complimentary touch-up still didn't fully cover a few stubborn grays, she immediately went back in with a darker color and let it process longer to make sure they were covered. The place itself is pretty cool looking (in a grungy kinda way?), but I feel that the place may not be clean as it should be. I could be wrong here, but I've seen dust on their surface and arty structures. Also, I really don't like how they blow dry and comb your hair with their fingers. Not just a little bit while blow drying...but all throughout! It just feels a bit gross. I mean, who knows how clean their fingers are! I also hate the way they wash your hair. They actually have a separate girl that wash your hair (instead of the stylists)...and this girl is just not good! She has zero strength in her fingers...and I hate the way she even touches your hair! Possibly THE worst hair washing experience (experiences) I've ever had in ANY salon. I can't believe someone that's actually hired for this job (hair washing) does such a poor job! Despite liking the location and pricing, service and overall quality is always an issue. I may give it another try...but if my thoughts and feelings are confirmed once again on my next visit, I'll just find another salon in the area.
